Okay I don't know about the rest of North America and the world but the price of Gas in the last 3 months has been sneaking up there. It was 58cents on the Litre in the summer but now in Ontario they are trying to pass off 67 cents. I have a feeling by Christmas it will be 70+ cents. I don't think these prices have anything to do with supply and demand but rather Greed. So I'm wondering if this is happening to everyone else or just little old Ontario : )

I'm not to familair with the metric system but that does sound pretty expensive for gas. Here in NY I'm paying $1.37 a gallon for regular unleaded gas. About a year ago it was a little less than $1 a gallon. But that didn't last to long.

Yes. I remember that short period of time, Not Man. In New York the prices were nice for a few months. Now I pay about $1.70 for premium 93. Imagine that for a gallon of gas self-serve. Unreal. It is about greed. Not supply and demand, in my opinion... It's for this reason there will be so many electric cars in our near future...

WOW!! $1.70 for super?!? Where in NY are you? I'm in Watertown and here it's about $1.50 give or take a few pennies.

Oh, you're upstate.. Right? I'm on the Island. Close to the city and all that - so I guess that's why.. I'm in Suffolk County if that helps..

I've always thought it would be strange to live near the border of Canada. I mean, you can go to another Country in just alittle while. hehe That must be kinda cool... :)

I envy your buying power right now. If you live close to the border take advantage of our low dollar. Take $20 buy some $20 shoes and come home with change lol - and a tax credit LOL

Well its been an interesting week here in Ontario for Gas. Prices shot up to 72 cents a litre for regular vehicles but even diesel that is usually the cheapest shot up to 71.3 Truckers on some of our busiest highways down near toronto just abandoned their trucks right on the highway leaving the 401 and 400 backlogged for miles and miles. Police are really helpless to do anything and nor do they blame the truckers. In my own city, truckers have camped their trucks on our busiest industry linked highway(road) and refuse to move until the pumps go down. I wish motorists would have the same guts to do this. There is no reason for gas being so high. I don't know what it is like in your neck of the woods but my parents are in Florida and are enjoying fairly cheap gas prices. It seems up North as soon as it turns cold the prices go up. The piss off is that Canada produces their own gas and we are pretty much pipelined across Canada so there is no need to rob consumers. I'm very piss off and had to say something. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

Well right now regular unleaded gas is $1.45 a gallon....to damn much if you ask me. Just a few days ago it was $1.41.....why the sudden increase? I agree Zel there is no reason for an increase like that.

Funny you should mention high gas prices......I just received an e-mail today about a 3 day gas out from April 7, 2000 through April 9, 2000. The message is as follows:

Pay Back Time Again

Anytime we can stick it to them it's a good day. Last year on April 30, 1999, a gas out was staged across
Canada and the U.S. to bring the price of gas down, and it worked. It's time to do something about it again. This time, let's make it for three days instead of just one. The oil cartel decided to slow production to drive up gasoline prices. Lets see how many Canadian\American people we can get to ban together for a three day period in April, NOT TO BUY ANY GASOLINE, during those three days.
LETS HAVE A GAS OUT.
Do not buy any gasoline from APRIL 7, 2000, THROUGH APRIL 9, 2000. Buy what you need before the dates listed above, or after, buy try not to buy any during the GAS OUT. If you want to help, just send this to everyone you know and ask them to do the same. We brought the prices down once before, and we can do it again! Come on North America lets stand together.
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even if you receive this 100 times keep passing it around, this way you know everyone is being informed and no one will forget!!!!!!

Gas jumped the other day from 69.3 cents (and we were happy duh!!!) to 78.2cents. we pulled up to put in our $5.00 (my protest) and the gas guy said the truck that just pulled out filled his dual tanks $176 dollars OUCH!!!! Spring is in the air (weatherwise and season now) I'm tuning up our bikes intend to burn off the winter excess instead of loosing weight in my wallet.
What North America should do is open up the reserves and watch the price per barrel drop (which is a load of crap)

Ironically I watch The Lonely Planet alot and in Iran gas is completely subsidized. Freefill, cheap bus tickets and very cheap in country plane tickets. It must be the same in Iraq.

When I went to the gas station this afternoon they told me to wait a minute before I pump so that they could raise the price...

Just kidding. hehe But it's really getting ridiculous. I will participate in the gas thing from April 7-9 but I don't exactly see what it does.. We're buying more gas the day before so nobody is really losing.. Maybe it's just to show how many concerned citizens are out there.. But I'm sure they know everyone is concerned anyway...

Well Sal,
If we sit in apathy and do absolutely nothing - nothing will change. This date falls on a weekend when the gas companies usually hike up their prices anyways and if 15 million expected customers don't fill up it does put a dent in the over all flow chart. It shows that people may eventually get fed up and look for alternative transportation that will cost the cartel down the road. Last year there was a one day protest in North America and prices did remain fairly decent over the spring and summer. Something has to give because it will also affect the truck and suv market. A few of my friends are already putting their trucks up for sale because they can't afford to fill their tanks. That means jobs lost and more Flint Michigans. We have a little 4 cylander that we used to be able fill for $19.00 and get about 1000 highway km's to the tank. Now we put $10.00 in and it only fills the tank 1/4 of the way.
