View Full Version : TV shows
Ok, so in the 80's, I was the ultimate TV junkie!! I'm not lying..my evenings were planned by the tv guide. So sad, but true. Anyway, I loved watching the usual shows..Cosby, Facts Of Life, Family Ties, Growing Pains, Diff'rent Strokes, etc... I remember when "V" came out. That was like THE show to watch. Remember those corny after-school specials they used to show?
Sal Collaziano 2-15-00, 05:30 PM hah The after school specials. Yeah, I remember those.. My Mother made me watch one, once. hehe Oh, and "V". Yes.. I'm getting the uniform for Halloween this year. :)
Was it one about drugs? I had to watch one on teen pregnancy..ooh, big surprise. Yeah, right like I wanted to go out and get pregnant. It was just hard enough to find a decent guy to date. You've got a "V" costume? That's cool..I don't know what I'm going as..Daisy Duke? Who knows....LOL-Nikki
It is so sad! I spent the 80's in England and missed so many good shows! I can remember coming back to the states in 1985 for my grandfathers funeral and sitting in front of the TV for the whole week! I had never seen cable TV before and had never seen alot of the shows that American kids were raving about! My first veiw of Alex P. Keaton was memorable! I LMAO and loved that show! I made my grandmother record it for me every week. Then I would have to have it converted so I could watch it! She would record that and sometimes she would just tape hours and hours of MTV for me!
Wow Rain your grandmother rocks! : ) I watched those after school specials too but none of them really stood out in my memory. What I was terrible for in the 80s was Days of Our lives - I'd come home everyday after school from grade 4 until I finished university to watch this. We used to go to Florida for 3 weeks every year around Christmas and my father would get so pissed at me because I'd be inside the hotel room at 1pm watching this soap when I should have been outside foraging for seashells or getting sunstroke lol : )
Sal Collaziano 2-18-00, 01:44 PM Wow, yeah.. Your grandmother did some cool stuff! Do you still have the video tapes?
Rain, where in England were you? I was in England in 81 to 84. I missed a lot of stuff too, and went to see every american movie that came out. I remember we did see the 1st "Cheers" episode on british t.v. Anyway, I didn't know who Madonna or Prince were when we came back to the states in 84. I was a major Duran Duran, Wham, and Def Leppard fan when I came back to the states, though.-Nikki
My grandmother was a wonderful woman! She used to go in my room and tell me that all these boys need haircuts, and then go on and on about how cute Willie Nelson is! HEEHEE!
I was in England from 1982-1987. My father was stationed at Upper Heyford RAF base. We lived in Bicester and for a short time, Banbury. Spent all my time in Oxford, though!
Where were you?
Hey, we were at the same place!!!! My dad was stationed at Upper Heyford..we lived in Banbury for our first few years, then we moved to Croughton our last year. I miss England!!! It was such a blast over there. I remember the winters there..man, we used to pray for snow days so we didn't have to go to school. What grades were you in when you were there? I was like in 3rd grade through 6th. My brother and I used to hang out with older kids, like in the 8th grade or something. I remember almost everyone I knew over there. Isn't this so cool..hey, did you know there was an Upper Heyford/Croughton Website? Nikki
Crypes, Nikki! Were you class of '90? If so, you may know my brother, Stephen Heick (pronounced HIKE). I was class of '87. You lived on Croughton? Did you know the Yozwiak's? Kristina was class of '87 and she had 2 older sisters (one named Stephanie, we called her Stevie, I don't remember the other girls name)
Anyhoo, I know of many Croughton/UHHS websites. As a matter of fact, I am founder of a Yahoo club for Croughton/UHHS alumni! Check it out, there a tons of Pics and links. There is also information on the HUGE Y2K reunion in Washington D.C. this year (July, 20-24)
