Pliiiizzzz help me...
looking for this song for more than 15 years...urgh...
i recorded the melody of it (well as much as i remember)
it's a song of 85-86
i vaguely remember the video of a guy walking thru some kind of redish empty market (kind of a lot of messy curtains...doo?)
it's definitely a ballad. soft pop. and the singer has a davidsylvianish-voice tone...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGHHHH...m'dying here...plizzzz make it fast!!!
NB: i know the sound sucks and i had to shrink the file...imagine it slower...better...thanks
Doesn't sound very 80's at all to me...could do with a lyric or two to help the identification process.

lyrics...mmm.well my best clue would be that in the chorus (cf recording first part) you have "for" rhyming with "before"...and i'm not sure...great news? doo
thanks for trying...
PS: it doesnt sound 80's at all because it was recorded in 2005 with my 6 strings...urgh..

It would help to know if this song was a big hit at the time. Include instruments you remember in the song etc...
Try this song...
Marillion - Kayleigh

Hello Dan,
i don't know if the song was on a top chart... heard it from the first time on a compilation tape with those " ticket to the tropics", "power of love", "glory of love", "holding back the years"...my guess is that it's definitely not a top 10...but probably a top 40...but from which week of those years...doooo???
thanks for helping. wasn't Marillion. and i checked all the songs from your links...ARGGGGHHH!!!
ok after the replies i had from Chasey and Dan i deceided to gather a "better" pack of info:
- the song probably was released 85-86
- style: kinda like "wonderful life" from black or like a quiet Paul Young song...
- music video: definitely saw it on MTV US in summer of 1988...in the video the singer (blonde) walks thru some kind of an east asian market stuffed with redish curtains
- the attachment is a recording i made with my guitare...basically the chorus...much quicker...and it's not a guitare in the original...
- the guy sounds a bit like David Sylvian (warm voice)
- there seems to be this rhyme in the chorus: "before" and "for"
voila.thanks
I posted your question also on Eighties Euphoria. I also want to know, it all sounds so familair.

Stab in the dark here....which is what I'll probably get if I am wrong and wasting your time :)
But didn't Peter Murphy dye his hair blonde in time for his solo recording of Cuts You Up? He was in a very muslim and Turkish frame of mind at the time and his voice could sure be construed as Sylvian-ish. Seem to remember red curtains from the video too although some landscape.
Anyway, just a thought.
You can watch Peter Murphy's video's here and check if it is what you are looking for:

urgh. thanks for helping. wasn't the right one (the single was released mid 90's...i also checked earlier albums...no'ing...eventhough the voice is close...)
urgh...i am in pain!!!
ps: i remember that in he video the singer has to make his way out of curtains...so less oriental than i thought first...definitely a romantic song...aaaaahhhhh!!!! m'dying here!!!!
