Chasey 9-25-05, 03:59 PM 'Since Yesterday' was a smash hit in the UK charts during 1985. I'll always remember it, because it just came out of nowhere, they were total unknown's and yet they stormed into the top 5 and stayed there for what seemed like an eternity. And it's not a bad song either :thumb: 80sTrivia 9-25-05, 08:04 PM I really like "Since Yesterday". It's such a sweet, soulful 80s pop ditty. And I loved the way those girls looked, with their big hair, eyeliner and outlandish outfits!!! Hurrah Brother 10-22-05, 05:34 AM Ahhh, The Pop Goth-ettes ;) Allegedly the first hit to be recorded at home on computer?!? (Truth? Unknown) Great song, It got into the charts because it got picked up by a daytime Radio 1 DJ (Radio 1 is the national popular music radio station that lacked any serious format constraints). Often it was the case that something fresh and unusual got radio play, became a big hit, but the follow up didn't get day time radio play and sunk without a trace! This help explains the shere number of one off hits in the UK charts. Back to Strawberry Switchblade, I think the follow up was a version of Dolly Partons 'Jolene' which while an undergtound hit, didn't get picked up by a daytime DJ (But late evening/night Alternetive stalwarts John Peel & Annie Nightingale did play) |
