My least favorite 80's songs:

Keep Your Hands To Yourself- Georgia Sattelites
Queen Of Hearts- Juice Newton

"We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off" was by Jermaine Stewart.

I hated every single song by Bon Jovi. "Bad Medicine" has the worst lyrics. In fact, I hate every single hair band ever.

Journey were also terrible.

The Eurythmics and The Pretenders.

Almost all of their songs sounded similar.

And as someone posted below, the Talking Heads.

Wow, Surly One, I know quite a few people who don't like the hair band era of the 80's, but I think you're the first who has said thay hate Journey. They may be guilty of helping to bring on that era, but they predate nearly all of those bands. Some of the best ballads and love songs come from Journey. I'm not putting you down for your taste in music, I'm just shocked. What type of music do you like?

I know I will get lynched around here, BUT here's my list:

Any songs by Van Halen, Bon Jovi, Poison or any other band with either a lot of hair or a lot of guitars. I was fortunate enough to live in Europe during the 80's, so I never really got into the guitar-rock. One 'non-hair' track that makes me sick is Talking Head's Road to Nowhere.

Oh my goodness!
Yes you will get lynched, just as you got when you came to Sweden in -88 with only Dance and House! You had it coming! My gosh... HAIR ROCKS!!!

VAN HALEN and POISON certainly ROCK, especially in this 80's forum... lots of fans here...

it's Tiffany and Debbie Gibson that got on my nerves!

Tiffany and Debbie Gibson - hehe Ahh, I liked them too. They were okay. Actually, I liked them more AFTER they were popular - not at the time..

As for Flixfan, well. We all have our likes and dislikes.. Let's not Lynch 'em off the face of the Earth now! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//tongue.gif I bet most everyone here would lynch me off of the planet for some of the stuff I listen to! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//redface.gif

I myself like practically every song that came out of the 80s. The only one I can really say that I'm not particularly fond of is "Kokomo" by The Beach Boys. I mean, it's a pretty good song, but you can only hear it so many times. I like Tiffany and Debbie Gibson, The Jets and the Fabulous Thunderbirds, hair-metal bands, Richard Marx, The Talking Heads, Jermaine Stewart, The Fixx, Dire Straits...They may seem bad at first sight to most people, but compare them to the swill that's out there today, and they suddenly become a lot more appealing.

See you on the B-Side!

Sincerely,

John "outofplacechild" Kilduff

I couldn't stand bands like The Cure and Depeche Mode. They were too depressing.Their sound was more suited for the 90s.They fit right in with depressing 90s music. The 80s were about having fun! Shouldn't that always be the case.Let's hope it will be again in the 00s.

You know me so well Bogie. I am not a fan of "Hair metal" I like "Real metal". I do LOVE synth and New Wave from the 80's. I agree with the fact that Bad Medicine is one of the worst songs ever. I'll tell you my least favorite songs of the 80's
1 Pour some sugar on me-Def Leppard
2 Love bites-Def Leppard (Pyromania was their last good album)
3 Don't worry be happy-Bobby McFerrin

other artists I don't care for include

Steve Winwood
Robert Palmer (I like Power Station, go figure?)
Poison
New Kids on the Block

I like so much it's hard to think of the ones I don't like.

BTW, Nelson and "Personal Jesus" are 90's

Please don't bombard me with hate posts! These are my opinions

How can it have gotten so far without someone noting extreme disgust for Toni Basil and the infamous "Mickey"?
And I LOVE the hair bands!!!!

*LOL* Bogie...you´re crying for help again? :D

Okay...need to make a few more enemies, here I go:

In the 80´s nearly everything which includes hair in the size of a 4-digit bill, stripey Spandex trousers and "rock" guitars were an absolute no-no for me. Europe, Bon Jovi, G´n´R...you named them, I despised them.
Was that good enough? :D

Of course, there was some pop which made me turning off the radio immediately, if not more drastic action came to my mind...

Katrina and the Waves - Walking on Sunshine
Tracey Ullman - Breakaway (she´d better stucked to her porno career... :D )
Kajagoogoo - one of the few 'hair synth' bands...
Everything from Paul Young, Modern Talking and all artists produced by Dieter Bohlen, most of the S/A/W stuff (with general exception of Rick Astley ;) ), MJ, Madonna (still can´t get very warm with her music today)...and hair metal, but I think I´ve mentioned that somewhere else. ;)

Good thing I´ve learned something called "tolerance" over the years... :D

With all due respect, I don't like the syntho pop stuff or anything like that :) I would never say I hate it because I really haven't heard a variety of this style, only what they played on the radio. :)

I don't understand how anyone can say they hate a certain group/singer by what they have heard on the radio. :) Most artists have so much more to offer than what is viewed as a hit. :)

I don't think I said anything to make someone mad, If so {{{Hugs}}} to you ;)

I can't believe that some of the posts are against Richard Marx. He has talent and I enjoy all of his work. To each his own though, the question was for you to answer in your own opinion. But just for the record....I love the hair bands!! I love Richard Marx!! I love Journey!!

Some of the songs that I always turn off when they come on are:

ONLY THE LONELY.....Motels
GLORIA...........Laura Branigan
KEEP YOUR HAND TO YOURSELF....Georgia Sattelites (I should add that I used to like this song a little until some Karaoke dude ruined it for me.
