What do you think are the best songs from an 80's Movie? Usually I'd say a movie that did well in the 80's also had a hit song and a video on MTV.
Examples...Purple Rain probably wouldn't have done so well had it not had the ENTIRE soundtrack that came with it. All those songs are classic, add a little controversy (anyone know the lyrics to "Darling Nikki"?) equals hit movie and soundtrack.

Disappointing soundtrack, but a great movie "16 Candles"..man, that movie had so many good songs in it, too bad a lot of them weren't on the soundtrack though. You had some Spandau Ballet, Wham, Thompson Twins, and Madness.

Ok, so best Song from an 80's movie...
1-Power of Love from Back to the Future. I'm a huge Huey Lewis+the News fan.

2-Maniac from Flashdance

3-Footloose. I love all the songs on this soundtrack!

I picked up the soundtrack for Subway last week. Anyone remember the Christopher Lambert/Isabelle Adjani styler? I think that was the first movie I saw Jean Reno in.

Anyway, back to the point gobshite, I still love the track "Only Mystery". There's just something haunting about the line: "How can we keep on wathching that f&@#ing tv. We're so bored we don't even care what we see."

Still does something special for me. Especially cause it sounds so strange coming from a relatively mellow song.

Trivia - one of the earlier Eric Serra soundtracks. Same guy that went on to do La Femme Nikita, Fifth Element and many others.

I always liked "I can dream about you (Dan Hartman)" off of the "Streets of Fire" soundtrack. I also liked the movie (think I was the only one...)

I love the entire soundtracks to "Last American Virgin" and "Top Gun". My favorite though would have to be "So Far So Good" by Sheena Easton (from About Last Night)
