So.....I guess nobody really cares after all, huh?
Come on people - There's loads to discuss in that list!! :)
I think the song I like best from your list is Broken Wings.
I'm glad to see another Wham fan out there, as people seem to be ashamed of admitting they like their music these days.
xistenza 11-27-01, 02:22 PM Alphaville as a top 5 album?? Wow, you must really like them, huh? Don't get me wrong, that album is flawless from start to finish. Have you seen the DVD of their performance in Salt Lake City in 2000? I saw this last week. It's amazing. They do a slow version of "Dance with Me" that was incredible.
that pogues song is great too! ;)
I do love Alphaville Xistenza, and I guess a lot of these songs were my favourite going back to my childhood. Lots of other memories attached that make these songs more special than others I guess!
I had heard that Alphaville's live shows are becoming more and more unmissable. I've got 4 or 5 of their CD's including the collectable 'Prostitute'.
I just love them!
I am surprised you didn't have Chicago on your list.
Didn't you like them?
I loved the song Broken Wings.. it still makes me cry.

Very eclectic list, Steve. I enjoy all of your choices.

Dancingdoll1986 11-27-01, 07:01 PM I LOVE WHAM!!!!!
I have their CD Fantastic in my CD changer in my car right now. Aron hates it. Tough! I crank up Wham Rap and sing, (uh...caterwall), at the top of my little lungs!!
Iluvthe80s 11-27-01, 11:05 PM Those are all good choices. :)

A good point re Chicago Milani.
My favorite song by Chicago was 'If You Leave Me Now' by a clear mile, but unfortunately as we all know that was a serious 70's tune.
Broken Wings is still one of the best 80's songs ever I reckon.

Thanks, 80's Trivia!
I too enjoy Wham!, no 80's night is complete without them - my 'The Final' cd is starting to show signs of wear!
There were some songs that I still deliberate long and hard over that could easily have reached the top 20:
Dance Hall Days - Wang Chung
Vienna - Ultravox
Gold - Spandau Ballet
Against All Odds - Phil Collins
Save A Prayer - Duran Duran
Take On Me - A-ha
I'm So Excited - Pointer Sisters
My favorite on that list has to be
Take on Me.
outofplacechild 11-28-01, 03:25 PM I'm a Wham! fan...nothing to be ashamed about there. Everyone calls them "gay", just because George Michael is. I say, so what? I like 'em.
The rest of your picks are great as well.
Sincerely,
John "outofplacechild" Kilduff

I can hear you singing Wham! Rap in my head right now, Gretchen!!! I can also picture Aron wincing!
;) . I actually have the Fantastic album on cassette tape, which I purchased in 1984. My fave song on that album is Club Tropicana! I can still see the video in my mind, with the boys traipsing merrily through Ibiza. ;) ;)

OMG!!!
Wham....Bam....I am....a man.
Job or no job, you can't tell me that I'm not.
Do....you....enjoy....what ya do?
If not, then stop....Don't stay there and rot!!!
I LOVE this song!!!!!!!!!!! :D
Oh, I can't believe I remember that song. and "Bad boys, stick together
never sad boys.
do do do do. woo woo."
haha
seriously, the song,
"Last Christmas
I gave you my heart
but the very next day,
you gave it away." is one of my all-time favorites.
also that one:
"And it's hard to love,
when there's so much to hate.
and there is no hope to speak of.
and the wounded skies above.....
maybe we should all be praying for time."
But Roxy Music is definitely my favorite on your list. I love all of their music. :)

And it gets worse after that Jen, lol!!
"Do you wanna work? - NO!
Do you wanna have fun? - YEAH!!
Do you wanna be a jerk? - NO!
Do you wanna stay young? - YEAH!
Everybody say 'WHAM'...." :D :D
The secret's in the cheeze!

Hear hear! In fact, If I had to choose an all time 80's favorite it would be 'More Than This'. Classic.
What I'm less sure about is the rest of the top 20...
Steve you have a great list. I love Roxy Music I didn't know many people that did so thank-you for posting that.
I have a really hard time makinglists because it always changes depending on the mood or the time of the year :)
As soon as I think I have my list defined I see something or someone posts an artist that I love and I have to rework my list. :)
Prefab Sprouter 3-06-03, 08:05 AM Much Respect to Chopper for putting Roxy Music so high up on your list!!!!!!
I saw this post and just had to comment!!!!!!!!
djdaffy1227 3-06-03, 09:56 AM Am I the only person who thinks Wham rap is a piece of crap  White, English boys shouldn't rap  Neither should the Chicago Bears  or Roland the Rat for that matter  I like Wham's other songs much better. just my opinion :)
It's way to hard for me to narrow down my favorite 20 songs.

Oh and I suppose you don't like Holiday Rap by Miker G and DJ Sven, either
I don't know why DJ gives you such a hard time, Chopper, you've got a great list of favorites!
Prefab Sprouter 3-06-03, 11:05 AM Young Guns having some fun................................. :D
Well I have to agree with Daffy on this one. White men cant Rap!
LOSTNTHE80S 3-06-03, 11:12 AM FROM YOUR LIST:
Every Breath You Take (single)
Soundtracks:
I do have to agree that my favorite soundtrack from the 80's is the Footloose soundtrack.....and, Good Morning Vietnam is a great soundtrack too.

Wait a minute! "Wham rap" isn't on his list. I didn't make fun of any of his songs :D
I liked all the ones he liked (well, all but one, but I won't mention Michael McDonald  )
That Ryan Paris song is great! I heard it for the first time earlier this year. It was never a hit in the US.
