BattleZone! I lived on that game. Kept high score for months on end. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif What good days they were... http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

I was hooked on Asteroids. The graphics were amazing http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//laugh.gif I have a small executable file on my pc that is an exact replica of that game (along with duplicates of Battlezone, Pac Man, Tetris and Centipede). Let me know if you want me to make them available through email or downloads.

However, my favorite game in the arcades was Chexx Hockey!

Hey, us007ed. I sure wouldn't mind if you mailed me that executable. I would love to relive the glory days of BattleZone. You can get my e-mail address from my profile. Thanks... http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

Am I the only one or has the arcade gone the way of the dinosaur? Remember back in the day? An arcade would have 100 or more machines all waiting to eagerly gobble up my lunch money. Don't really see many of those anymore. I can only thing of one like that in my area of Phoenix. You used to see them everywhere. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//frown.gif

Never was very good with Asteroids though. You would probably tear me up on that one, annual_mayhem. Just kept flying into everything. Oh, well. It was still a fun way to pass the time. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

The trick was to stay right in the middle and turn round and round blowing everything away. If you moved you were a goner for sure. As far as arcades go, there is only one here also. Not only were there arcades all over the place but games were in convenience stores and restaurants too (where ever they could fit one in). What are todays kids to do?

I remember hanging out at an arcade every Friday and Saturday night. We'd go there before we went "cruising" We'd play a couple of games. The rest of the time was used to scope out the guys! Memories!!! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//00hahaha.gif

Same here - hang out in the R-Cade for a while, then go cruizin' Valley Parkway.

There's still an arcade here, which is surprising because I live in a small town. I've never been in there. Heck, I'm 36, I'm not exctly gonna go trollin' for babes in there http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//wink.gif People would probably walk up to me and ask for change for the machines. Anyhow, I've got the classics on my Playstation.

The best game? I suppose Zaxxon was my favorite, but that's not exactly the same thing as "best". Maybe I'll vote for Tron. It had pretty cool graphics, and those light cycles were just awesome.

Yeah! Tron was very cool also. For some reason, that seems to be one game I just cannot get to work on an emulator. Man, I would really love to play that one again. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//frown.gif

I was always hooked on Galaga. I could play for hours on one quarter because I knew how to get them to stop firing at me. Another one that was fun, but expensive at the time was Prince Valiant. I think that was the name of it. It was like an animated cartoon. I spent quite a bit of time playing 1942 also. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//eek2.gifUh Oh! I'm dating myself.

Most of ya probably never heard of it, but I always loved this game, "Black Tiger" I marked out big time when I found this game on emulation after years and years http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif I remember I mastered this one to the point where I could go through the whole thing in one quarter. The first time I beat it, I had a crowd of like 10-15 people all around me watching me take on the final dragon....what a rush back then http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif

Super Pac-man is ULTRA addictive....love turning into huge Pac-man and just clearing house http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//biggrin.gif

So many more to mention, so little time, so I'll leave it at that....for now http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//tongue.gif

Tron was my favorite of all time. I used to love the one level wehre you were surrounded by the spider eggs, and got like 2 seconds to fire your way out before they hatched! THAT was the best! I loved that game, and would play it for hours on end. The thing about Tron that most people couldnt get used to was having to rotate the wheel while shooting/moving with the other hand.
I remember the name ZAXXON, but cant recall what it was.
Moon Patrol was another favorite of mine, along with DONKEY KONG.

There is an arcade at the local mall, but it only has the very new games. The one that I like now, I am not sure the name of it, but you stand in front of the monitor and another peron stands in front of it as well, and you throw punches, or kick, or duck or jump, and the sensors translate it onto the screen where your charector is fighting the other guy. VERY COOL and VERY TIRING!

I also remember where they had BIG arcades, with about 75 to 100 machines. There was one when I lived in New Orleans called the Jolly Ox. That is the first place I ever saw TRON, when I was like 12 or 13. I can remember when every Pizza Hut had the table top DEFENDER and PAC MAN, and a Juke box that always seemed to be playing "MANEATER" by Hall and Oats.

Hello all, Ive been reading down all these posts about peoples favourites games and lots of requests for "where can I find this game". I only saw one reply mentioning MAME ( Multi Arcade Machine Emulator ). Get it at http://www.mameworld.net/ . Its a bit of a "Grey Area" as the Roms for Pole Postion, Pac Man etc etc are Copyrighted. However most of these companies are no longer in business and those that have survived no longer market the Arcade machine. The roms are easy to find on the web, with only a few that are hard to find..Tron, Pac Man, Millipede, Defender etc are very easy to obtain..The later ones (1990 onwards) arent so easy.
If there is game you are looking for ( MAME or RAINE )drop me an email..im sure I can point you to the right web link ...... P.S My faves are two of the oldest Scramble and Phoenix

I remember nearly all the games listed here. Can't explain why, but my favorite arcade game was Bagman. You control a little theif who steals bags of gold from a mine while being chased by a keystone cop or two and dodging mine cars. When your character didn't get away, he collapsed and said "Ummma Mum Wa", whatever that means. You got to listen to 'Turkey In The Straw' while you played too. Oh what fun.

I also liked Pitfall, Pole Position and 1942.

You could also go to the Emulators therad in 80s Videogames (http://80sxchange.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9454)
Ask anything emu related you want, and I'm sure someone will help ya :thumb:

As for finding later games being difficult....Sorry Greenway have to disagree...It's quite easy. If it's emulated you can find it within 5 mins using Google (or go to a certain chinese site, which I won't mention here since, we don't wanna mess with tha man :D )
