Okay. I know this isn't 80's related, but I figure we're all gamers (of varying intensity) here. So what games are playing now or have played recently?

I just finished two. Max Payne and Red Faction. Max Payne is incredible. Basically you are a cop in New York out for revenge and can pull stunts of like you were Neo from the Matrix. Very sweet game.

Red Faction is just another shooter (set on Mars this time). It's fun, but not ground breaking. Worth the money though if you are thinking about it.

Well. What about it? Played anything recently you would recommend?

Nothing much for me....my last conquests were the Oracle series. Since then, I've only played a couple MAME roms when I've gotten the chance...Operation Thunderbolt (anti-terrorism game :D) and Forgotten Worlds.

Still enjoying BG II. Third time around. LOL

I am playing the three Gamecube titles, Max Payne on the PC and Madden 2002 on PS2.

Max Payne is awesome. The whole "matrix" bullet-mode is awesome. By far the best game I have played on PC for a loooong time.

Too many to list. :D I'm thinking about buying Max Payne, I've played the demo.

Yes! Yes it is!!! Max Payne is definitely a keeper. I plan on letting that sit just long enough to forget a few things and then playing it again. The "Bullet-Time" mode is so sweet...

I'm replaying Zelda:Orcarania of time, for the 8th time. Also still trying to beat Oracle of Time, which i got at the begging of the year.I feel pathetic stuck at the water temple level. I even bought a strategy guide and couldn't beat it. :( Oh and finishing Majoras Mask which i started around November of last year.I've savored that game.

I guess what I play you can't really say is in the league with gamers. My husband playes all the Tom Clancy games and Unreal tournament on Mplayer. I love the Sims - now I've got to get the hotdate one LOL. I spend most of my time building the houses decorating - cheating on the money and then I play God LOL. My other favorite is Rollercoaster Tycoon I can eat up hours on that game. Bought Grim Fandango - never made it past the first dead guy :(

Has anyone played Messiah? Is it any good? My hubby's friend just gave it to us and I wasn't to sure whether or not I'd like it.

PJ my son is a total FF fan :) He finished 9 in no time flat. 7 was his favorite though.

DanAria
10-24-01, 12:21 PM
Zel, I'm also a fan of roller coaster tycoon.Although I'm not that good usually they are all lost and complain.I also like final fantasy, mainly ff8, and the movie which came out yesterday!Did he like ff8? :D

Shakey
10-25-01, 08:55 AM
I tried FF, but there just wasn't enough action for me. I'm the kind of person that needs to go full-tilt (hyper-active, so they used to tell me). My niece loves The Sims though. She can sit and play that thing for hours just building houses and stuff. It doesn't matter what you play, as long as you play. A "Gamer" isn't defined by any specific set of criteria. If you play games, you're a GAMER. :)

Poison PJ
10-25-01, 10:26 AM
and then there's the hardcore gamers, such as myself who adore everything from the game, including the artwork, fan artwork, music & fan remixes, etc, etc

If you guys are playing MaxPayne you must have a kick ass system. My husband showed me the demo the other day and it was really cool but he said to get the most out of it he'd have to upgrade again (is this a ploy for me to fork out cash for the 2 gig processor LOL).

I finally found the third part of Command&Conquer - Tiberian Sun! Wohooo...*LOL*
Guess that will keep me busy for the next days when I´m not online (and posting...). ;)

And, the C&C mission disk 'Yuris Revenge' is also out... :)

My isn't to shabby. Built it myself with gaming in mind. :D Max Payne is an incredible game though.

I just started playing "Project Eden". It's kind of an actoin/adventure deal. By the same people that gave us "Tomb Raider". Great graphics.

Hey, Pamela. Welcome to the gaming arena. :) How is Giants? Thought about giving it a try, but it looks like it may be a HUGE time killer.

Well I am not a huge gamer or anything.. but it can definitely be a huge time killer, and the graphics are great. I play multiplayer at Gamespy, and that's pretty fun, but I haven't played single player yet.. I've heard it's good though. The storyline is pretty funny in the single player game and the grandfather smartie is awesome (hilarious). You should give it a go. You do have a good system though right? You're gonna need it.

Let me know what you think.

I recently finished Max Payne and echo everyone else in that it is a great game.

Just finished Soldier of Fortune which was a fun but simple first person shooter... quite violent too.

Began playing Kiss: Psycho Circus.... not bad, but nothing great.

Just bought a bunch of games from someone and looking forward to getting my hands on those....

I am playing Silent Hill 2 on the PS2 right now. Great graphics and spooky environment like the first game. Definitely a must buy for the PS2.

I just got the new Grand Theft Auto for PS2 as well. I haven't had time to play it, but it looks great.

With Metal Gear Solid 2 and Soul Reaver 2 coming out for PS2 within the next two weeks - I won't be bored! :)

Not a big gamer either, but when i play, i go fer " god games " or " god sim " or, ..er...well, game where you built a whole world. B&W from lionhead studio is real nice. I always end up being super extra nice and having everybody like me. Not that I'm a nice guy, well I am one, but i got a certain idea of how things should be, sorta it's the leader to listen to the people and make'em prosperous ! Besides, most people find it more fun to be evil, but it's nothing like me ! I like the idea of giving this worls a new chance, If I could do it, I wouldn't miss ! Use to like shoot'em up in space, where your spaceship can have over an hundred different weapons and 16 different energy bars and a lot more option so you can make a super duper 16 hits mega blaster shoot !

LOL..I should have come in this thread first! I just told you in the GTA thread about this game Flix! Doesn't it rule? Tell me the truth...how nervous do you get when that damn radio starts spitting out the static???

I really love racing games, so I've been playing alot of Gran Turismo. There's two games I hope I get for Xmas called "Burnout" and "Test Drive". "Burnout" is a racing game where the object is not only to win the race, but to also cause as much damage as you can!!! They say that the crash physics are the best in any game ever! Kewl!

"Test Drive" is the continuation of the series, but now on PS2 with KILLER graphics! Where else can you drive old muscle cars!!!??

Flix
11-16-01, 11:37 AM
Yeah, Silent Hill 2 is really freaky. I am unfortunately stuck.

I would probably try Burnout before buying. I got it and apart from the crashes...well...it isn't all that. But they are spectacular enough to keep you busy for a while.

Metal Gear Solid 2 is all I am playing now. It is by far the best game I played this year. Although Grand Theft Auto III is up there too.

Checked out the demo for 'Serious Sam', a ego-shooter game.

Not bad - although I had to turn the graphic resolution down (remember I´m on an 'oldtimer' here  ), it´s still amazing to see how they have improved from the good old days of 'Doom'. The scenery is located in ancient Egypt, which is a nice variety from all those hi-tech dungeons.

In the easiest setting ('Tourist'...sheesh), it´s a slaughterfest, but not too easy, as the enemies just don´t hang around there waiting for you but most times appearing from nowhere. And, you have also to watch the skies for unwelcomed surprises.

No brain bender but cool and violent fun to play, recommended for easing stress. ;)

Shakey
11-19-01, 06:32 AM
Yes sir. Serious Sam is great for stress relief. I played that back when it first came out. Awesome graphics. No real story line, just KILL crap. :D

It´s a ELSA Gladiac GeForce 2 MX with the Detonator driver.
It would show some better performance, but it´s slowed down by the vintage mainboard (Tekram) and the processor (PII-350). :(

Boy, do I need a new PC...but for this, I need a job first. ;)

That's the same card that I have. It's a good one. Do you have the Elsa 3D Revelator glasses also? They totally rock for Unreal Tournament.

Borrowed the Revelator glasses from a friend, but found out that my head started to ache after 5 minutes of gaming. :(

Shakey, how'd you get a dual O/S boot working on your computer?

What's the deal with Max Payne? What's it about?

I just got a new Dell system
2Ghz P4, 256 Ram, 40 gig HD, 64mb Geoforce graphics card, Turtle Beach sound card.

Pagan lent me Half Life, I'm just getting used to that now. I think I need to get a joystick, any suggestions? :D

Shakey
11-21-01, 02:31 PM
Taz. Actually, I guess the proper term now for me is Multi-Booting. I have a new system I set up to boot between XP/ME/Linux.

If you want to dual boot your system, you will have to partition your hard drive (you'll lose everything when you do this). If you wanted to dual boot 98/XP, you would create two partitions. You can do this when you boot off of a start up floppy. The first is your primary DOS partition and the other is an extended DOS partition (then set to a logical drive). You then have to re-install 98/ME (Whichever) first to the C: drive and then XP to your D: drive (this will be your logical drive).

Here is a link that goes into a lot more detail on doing this - How to: Dual-Boot (http://www.3dspotlight.com/articles/dualboot/index.shtml)

If you decided to do it and need some help, give me a yell.

As for Max Payne? Your an undercover cop in New York out to avenge your wife's murder. It has this sweeeeet (to quote Cartman) move called "Bullet-Time". Kind of like the slo-mo deal from the Matrix. It's a great game. I've played a lot of games and that is definitely one of the best.

Sounds like your new system is kickin'. I'd say Max Payne would run smoothly on that.

Flix
11-21-01, 03:52 PM
Great system Taz. I would probably add some ram to it if you're gonna mess with Win ME or Win XP. Especially if you are using DSL or Cable with the two.

Flix
11-21-01, 08:06 PM
If you want to get full use out of the rest of your really nice setup - Yes, I do think you need more RAM. Upgrading to 512MB will make a HUGE difference for you. Especially if you run one of the newer operating systems and like to have more things open at once. With RAM being dirt cheap right now it would make a nice difference for very little money. Just a suggestion to get full value for the nice puter you got! :)

Taz

I´ve only seen the advances so far...my friend downloaded the Multiplayer demo, and it looked cool (I´m not so much into online gaming except for strategic games like C&C). Hope we won´t get a censored version here - all politics aside, it´s only a game (the German version of Castle Wolfenstein 3D featured such censorships, as certain symbols and pictures were deleted). The deleted areas looked kinda shabby...and besides, what´s wrong with killing Nazis?

I could always buy it for you here and ship it to you. I'm liking it so far. Just wish they would have kept the supernatural stuff out of it. Takes away from the realism. The graphics are phenominal though. Fun to play and the AI is sweet. If you shoot at people, they actually duck for cover and make you come to them.

I really don't want to give Bill any more money than he deserves, but the trailers of the games on the X-Box Website look awesome. Is it hype? Do these games come for PS2 and look just as good and run better? I heard the X-Box can quickly become the Junkbox and need to go in for warranty repair.

I think I've said it before, but my opinions are pretty biased...lol. I'd go with a PS2 by far. X-Box, I think has some original games...Flix would no better than I on that note, but I wouldn't trust a Microsoft made machine as far as I could throw it :p I heard from PJ (think it was PJ anyway) that he knows someone who had their's break down pretty quick, so there ya go...

Graphics and gameplay wise, you'll get a lot more out of a PS2 than you will an X-Box...plus the selection on PS2 is a lot larger given the fact it plays PS1 and PS2 games

I have just finished Final Fantasy 9. Not up to the standards of 8, but excellent none the less.

Gman, I would definitely go for the PS2 right now. It has far more games and you know what you get with a Sony machine: quality.

Xbox is still a newborn baby so to speak. There are some really good games out for Xbox, but most of them will come out for the PS2 sooner or later.

Since I know you're a gun fanatic - run out and get a PS2 with Time Crisis 2. The light gun that comes with the game is a lot of fun. The reaction you get from the wife/girlfriend/family/friends, when you sit with a red plastic gun, blasting away bad guys on your TV is worth it alone. ;)

I just finished Hitman: Codename 47 and it was pretty good.

Someone else mentioned Serious Sam... fun game, but IMO, near impossible to finish if you don't use an invincible cheat code. I try not to use them but there are moments in the game where I don't see how it's possible to survive the onslaught of monsters coming at you... I'm talking something like 3-4 waves of 30+ creatures.... sheesh!

Another good game I highly recommend to any PC game player is Thief... awesome, awesome game. I haven't played Thief 2 yet though I have it.

Nothing like interactive horror! Silent Hill and the Resident Evil series are brilliant!

No movies scare me much, but playing those games certainly do. The first time I played Resident Evil it was alone with the lights off. After about quarter of an hour I said, "Blow this." And turned the lights back on again.

The great thing about horror on gaming machines like the Playstation is that the fate of the character depends on you. You have to take action to survive. Of course with a movie, all you're doing is sitting there watching it. Nothing you can do will make any difference at all.

Bring on many more sequels for these games!

Dino Crisis! I forgot about that one! Yes, played that too. I particularly liked part two, especially when I got hold of the sub machine guns and went on a Pleseasaurus massacre at the underwater compound.

Same here...I have been forewarned, but nothing could prepare me for this. I´ve enhanced the scary sensation by playing with the sound coming from the surround system of my stereo. Nearly jumped from my bed when I had heard them approaching from behind...although I had my back close to the wall.

Uhm. I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure that "Resident Evil" came out on the PC first. I played this back in '98 on my computer. Love the game though and as I said, can't wait for the Gamecube port so I can see the updated graphics.

As far as I know, it was first released for the PS One. It could have beeen released for the PC before in the US...we´re always lagging behind when it comes to good stuff, be it movies or games.

Yeah, I own both AoE and AoE2. Great strategic game, although I would suggest to skip the first part and head straight for AoE2 since it´s delivering more game fun and more detailed graphics.
Get also the AoE2 Expansion Pack 'The Conquerors' for additonal missions (and bug patches...).
Besides, once you find the cheat for creating some AC Cobras with heavy machine guns... :D

I can never get sick of these games. I'm a big AOE2 fan and I still play it on a regular basis.

I think it's a great strategy game and can be as challenging as you like. But you have to be able to handle dealing with a lot of different things at once. There is so much you need to do and you have to keep track of everything at once. It pays to use shortcut keys if you can.

I believe that AOE is probably the best war strategy game out there. But there will be others that disagree with me.

Recker, I agree with you man, nothing like a good horror videogame! Resident Evil was great, I just recently played Alien Resurrection on playstation, that gave me a few jumps!

I play AOE online, actually the 2nd version AOK but I rarely win, find it hard to keep caught up with everything going on at once. One good thing about playing online is you usually have several people playing so you set up alliances and have enemies. I do better in the deathmatch, when everyone starts with lots of rescources and at the last age, so all you do is set up your military quick and attack

If you like online strategy gaming then you might want to try Merchant Empires. I've been playing it for a while now. It's free and you play in your browser. No action graphics but man it's addictive. Check it out at Merchant Empires (http://advancedpowers.com)

You could try Max Payne for a different (3rd person perspective) style shooter. Kind of "The Matrix" like. If it is an adventure/puzzle solving type of game, "Project Eden" wasn't bad. It is by the same people that made "Tomb Raider" but is team based instead of a single character.

I'm playing Halo (actually, more like watching my b/f play) I don't think he trusts me enough to be his sidekick. The battle mode is totally great, though. I love shooting the hell out of my friends!!

Guess that I have to come back to your offer of sending me the original version one day...yeah, they did it and edited out the symbols and changed some names for the German Version.
But first, I need a powerful system - a friend tested it on an Duron clocked up to 950 MHz with a GeForce2 and 512 MB, and in some situations, you could almost count the frames (I guess that even after clocking up, the older Durons are not the best processors for gameplay ;)).

The Crash game was OK. It was fairly easy compared to Jak & Daxter and the graphics were OK, but not as smooth as J&D. The only thing that bothered me about Crash was the loading times. It could take 45 secs to load sometimes. Very annoying for a platform game.

Especially on a platform with the power of the PS2. I just read an article about a new meter they came up with to test how much of the system the software is using. It was thought that Gran Turismo II was pushing the limits of the PS2, but after running the test with the new meter it was determined that GT II was only using 35% of the PS2's power!!! YIKES!!! Can you imagine what the next generation games will look like on the PS2??? I cannot wait.....:vibrator:

I´m still wondering why this game is running on my PC pretty smooth (although I had to turn down some options), while the demo is running not well on the way more powerful PC of my friend.

Another cool game is Stronghold...played the demo, and it was okay. I´m looking forward to the sequel of Soldiers Of Fortune...oh, and the next part of the C&C series will also be an ego shooter. ;)

Pagan...be prepared for a tough surprise. ;)

I went through it, but I have to admit that I´ve used the cheats pretty often - even in the "wuss level", it´s sometimes impossible to finish a level without constant saving and retrying.

Now I´m going through RTCW again...in the most difficult level. Guess that will take longer than the three days I´ve needed as a 'cheater'. :D

Hey, Pagan. Man are you going to love Medal of Honor! The beach landing and sniper hunt missions are incredible (and incredibly hard). I can't tell you how many times I have been wasted just trying to figure out where a sniper was hiding. Lot of fun to be had in that game.

I'm done with Wolfenstein. Great game and a tough one. Yup! The super soldiers kicked my a$$ a lot! Think I liked the dam level about as good as any in that game. Kind of reminded me of Goldeneye on the N64.

You're gonna love Medal of Honor though. When you are scouting out through a bombed out village, the rain is pouring down, visibility is low and you just know that there is a sniper out there with you in his sights, you get pulled tight.

When I am done playing it normally, I think I am going to go back and play it with my 3D glasses. That should be a hoot. :D

Figured you would like it. The sniper hunt level is intense! Gllomy sky, rain falling down and snipers hidden in places you can't imagine taking pot shots at you. Not a fast level. You have to be patient and move slowly. Really added to the realism for me. I hope there are a lot of maps made for this one. I can see me playing it for a long time. Hey, Pagan. Just found a cool secret for MOA. Whenever you get done playing, add this to the end of your shortvut to the game - "+set ui_console 1 +set cheats 1 +set thereisnomonkey 1". Then, when you have started a game, press the tilde "~" key and it will bring up a command window. Type in "maplist" and look for one titled "m4|0.bsp", click on it and load it. It's a level they left out of the game, but didn't take out. Kind of fun. Lot's of dog's! Just thought you'd get a kick out of it.

Unfortunately, the instructions are only in German, but if you´re interested I can e-mail you a translation. Besides, the controls are quite simple (basically, you only need the arrow keys and the Space bar). Surely a diversion if you have enough from killing all the time...believe me. ;)

It´s freeware, and you can download it here (http://www.bild.de/games/special/sven/download2.html) (about 5,3 MB of size).

Then all sorts of codes come in handy to try some freaky stuff and prolounge the lifespan of a game...However, If I'm thourougly stuck in a game, I'll use a walkthru' in a jiffy, no fun having a game I can't get thru'...I don't consider using FAQs or walkthru's cheating, it's not like I'll sit down and follow it like a recipe (wouldn't work either since I'm a lousy cook) :D

As for people cheating in games, as long as they don't do it on-line I don't mind, it's you're game and your gaming experience, do what you want :p

Oh yeah, cheating after beating a game is all good...I love to do that after I master it. Like Agent Under Fire for instance...I got that game down straight with platinums in all levels, so all the cheats are now unlocked....unlimited ammo is just too fun in any game like that :hammer::D

I like games like that....giving cheats as rewards only if you do well enough to earn them

I agree 100%, actually I like any game that rewards skill :thumb: (like new characters and movies in Tekken), it's such a let-down to beat a game and only get 2mins of credits....."Booooooring, is this what I get for beating this motherflucker ?!"

BTW nuclear boms & paratroopers are a blast in C&C, or stocking heavily up on schocktroopers and go for a killingspree :thumb: :D

No I'm not a psycho....the voice in my head says I'm really not ;) :D

I usually try to beat a game without cheating first. Then when I realize that I suck at it, I'll sometimes use a cheat or two. For certain Soldier of Fortune levels, I use the cheat that gives me the heavy machine gun. I tried the God Mode cheat after completing the game, but it took the fun away from it. It's funnertrying to use stragedy to kill the enemies, rather than run out in the open spraying gunfire everywhere.

Well ever since I've joined up with the 80sxchange I haven't been playing any computer games, which is unheard of for me!

But in the last few weeks I've gotten back into them again. I've been working my way through Might & Magic VIII .

And just last night I finished the last mission in Command & Conquer's Tiberian Sun - Firestorm. Only took me a week to get through that one! :)

Naaah, consulting a gamefaq or walkthu' isn't cheating, it's seeking help, and besides why shouldn't you, this way you get to see everything in the game...as long as you don't follow it step by step, I don't consider it cheating :p

Roemello
4-19-02, 09:51 AM
Just those 3? There's another one in the beginning before the one in the box and yet another just before those gas pumps near one of the pulse powerups. You really gotta scower the entire level just looking for those....once you find 'em all, you'll probably notice there's one easy path to follow where you'll get all of the bond moves and all the bond coins in one route

:p Sorry too spoil your fun, but I found them all last night, without resorting to using an FAQ (Thanks anyway, Roem!). :D I found the first one easily, since I just started hunting in every nook and crannie. The one hidden in that tunnel type of deal under the building took me a while to find though. Finally got them all though and got Platinum on that level.

Now I am off to hunt for easter eggs. Just know there have to be some hidden in a game like this.

Roemello
4-19-02, 05:52 PM
So you got platinums in everything, eh? Not much else to do with it after that...all I did was beat every level again on 00 Agent level to get all my high scores at the very least above 200,000. I was hoping for a better ending, but it's the same cheesy one every time :p Good game though

Actually I've used FAQs to find easter-eggs....Some you figure out, others you find by accident, but just to make sure I get to see 'em all, I've used FAQs....but not untill I've beaten a game in every way possible :)

Shakey
4-21-02, 03:44 PM
Okay, Smurf. I'll tell ya' I may read a FAQ for easter eggs. I never actually considered that cheating though. That's just finding hidden goodies, not cheating to beat the game. Might be wrong in my philosophy though. Been known to happen. :p

I agree, a FF fighter would probably just be boiled down to the fighting scenes from the series, nothing wrong with those, it's just not enough....I just tried the FF X demo, and it's awesome. The gfx are of coz top notch, and the story seems as intruiging as the rest of the FF series. I'm not into RPGs big time (truth be told I've only really played FF 7), but this one looks so damn great I might get it :p

I only tried Renegade. It was good. Lots of detail, good gameplay and they really captured the C&C feel :thumb: It's definitely not for Quake 3 freaks as you can't just go in guns blazing (well you can, but that won't get you far). There's a nice diversity on level missions...If you like Delta Force Land Warrior I can recommend this one :p

Oh, man! This is SO much better than the PC version. The graphics are phenominal. The lighting in the rooms really gives the game that good "creepy" feeling and the way that you can see dust kicking up off of the floor when you run is fantastic. Even seems like they may have added some new stuff. I have also found some things that I don't remember in the PC version (I won't mention them, cause you have played it before Roem. Have you?).

Naah, Smurf. You got it all wrong :teach: "GOAL!" from Dino Dini to the Amiga was and is the best footy ever made - if you don't believe me, visit my site http://imv.au.dk/~jfh/goal.htm :D

And to stay in topic........... I play "Heroes of Might & Magic IV" a lot these days. Great game - but if you're used to the other titles in the series, you quickly become aware that the usual strategy and tactics has to change, due the the new features in the game, one of which is that the Hero is participating actively in combat.

Yeah, it was good....though the PC version is probably better. Looking back at it now though after getting deep into this one, RE2 looks like crap

Man....I don't know if they have it in Jill's version, but there is one sick ass shark attack I got through earlier tonight. Shakey
5-07-02, 09:49 AM
I haven't hit the shark's yet, though I hear that they are there. My play time has been limited this week because of work.

On the PC, the disc's were used for different characters (one for Chris and one for Jill). I don't think that is the case here though. They must have added a lot of stuff to need two disc's. I know the sharks' are new and the zombies coming back to life after you have already whacked them).

The only thing that is in this version, that was in the PC version, that I don't like are the frickin' doors. Wish there was a way to bypass having to sit there and wait for a door to open. Kinda gets on my nerves.

Roemello
5-07-02, 12:27 PM

Just got back off of the vacation, so I am gonna get back into Resident Evil. I just can't seem to find enough time to play it. :(

Yet another FPS for Smurf .... As I said earlier I found a magazine with a full version Unreal on the coverdisc .... I'm only 4 levels from completing it :p

Took a li'l getting used to the slighly inferior graphics (compared to todays standards), but the gameplay is definitley top notch :thumb:

I'll probaly be craving for some SWOS once I'm done, especially so close to the World Cup :D

I am playing "Stuck at the Library of Congress". It's a game where they let people sit and sweat for hours waiting for one single piece of paper. They do however offer a place to hook up a laptop for this game. It's one of the most popular games in the Washington DC area. I can recommend it to anyone who wants to visit the area.

Jokes aside - SMURF!! Have you played Fifa World Cup 2002 yet?? It rocks even though it's easy. I trashed France 22-0 in two times five minutes. I think we have to duke it out against each other next month. :)

Nope, last FIFA I played was 2002, and last one I really got into of the FIFA series must've been 2000 on the Playstation .... I'll look forward to kick your @ss :D (oh boy I have a bad feeling I'm gonna regret this  )

I was playing NASCAR 2002 for awhile but it wasn't doing too much for my road rage. So I switched to Grand Theif Auto 3. OHHH SWEET RAGE! :1pissed: Where's that little punk that was tailgating me today? :1pissed: FEEL THE WRATH OF MY RAGE!!! :1pissed: :dammit:

 For me, it's better for me to get even on the game rather than smashing into them with my Impala. :D At least that's what my therapist told me :wacky:

Just started playing "Soldier of Fortune 2: Double Helix". Great game. The graphics are sweet and the gore is great! Nothing like watching the enemy running around crying after you've blown his arm off.

I am on disc two of FF8(after having all memory earsed from my memory card twice.) and disc one of dragoon.

On ff8 i was on disc three and dragoon i was on disc four. then it all was earsed. I dont know but i was quite ticked off when that happend.

Dan are you using a standard 1mb memcard (I'm assuming you're playing on a Playstation 1) or some of the 2+ mem cards (that uses compression for storing). If you're using a compression memcard, that's your problem .... 90% of those are very unreliable, they will delete you memcard at random. You should always use a 1mb (doesn't have to be the Official Sony one tho') :p

I'm currently playing Dinotopia - The Timestone Pirates on the GameBoy Advance. Decent old-style platform game.

I went on a P2P frenzy and can now look forward to play THPS 3, Matt Hoffmann BMX, TR: Last revelation & Skatepark tycoon :thumb:

I dunno where to start or where to end :p (wow, that's a reeeeaaal big problem huh ? )

If I could drool like Homer Simspson, I would be doing it now! Just bought myself a Geforce4 (128 MB's ram) and began playing Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix. Man, that card makes for incredible graphics!

 [ImpressedWhistlin']Very nice Shakey[/ImpressedWhistlin']
Guess you're not short for cash ;) :D

With a li'l luck I should be able to buy one of these within 2 weeks
VGA 64 MB GFORCE3 TI200 ASUS V8200P
VGA 64 MB GFORCE4 MX440 ASUS V8170

Pretty much what my budget allows me to get ....
Ahh well with a 1.2 ghz processor and an extra chunk of 256mb ram I should be set up for another 18 months :D

Just decided to treat myself, Smurf. :D

I did do some research on this though before I bought it. According to what I read, you might be better off going with the Geforce3 TI than the Geforce4 MX. The reviews stated the the MX was really just a speed bumped Geforce2 and offered none of the technical advances of the Geforce 3 or 4's. Things like Pixel and vertex Shaders.

What are you running right now?

80sSmurf
6-03-02, 04:41 AM
I know Shakey ... TI cards are faster than MX. MX is basiccaly a poor man's Geforce (and I'm a poor man :D)
I'm not sure how big the speed difference is between Geforce3 TI and Geforce4 MX. I'll look around :p

Right now .... don't laugh ;) .... I'm using a RIVA TNT2 model 64 pro .... It's a whopping 32mb.

It has served me well, but I'm getting close to the point where even the newest Detonator drivers don't make much difference

Shakey
6-03-02, 09:19 PM
Nothing to laugh at there. Up until the Geforce4, I was using a Geforce2 with only 32 MB's of RAM. Good card, just not keeping up with the technology.

80sSmurf
6-04-02, 02:51 PM
Well TNT2 is no longer after all, and I think 32mb is pushing it nowadays .... GTA3 for example has a min requirement of a 32 mb gfx card .... with that in mind (and the fact that most emus are very hard on the gfx card), buying a 64mb gfx card might not be such a good idea. If I can pusaude my bank-advisor I'll get the money for a 128mb card, that shopuld tie me over for a li'l while

BTW we're getting waaaaaaaaaaay off topic here ;) :D

Shakey

You're right, we are off topic. Just finished Soldier of Fortune II. It was a good game, but not ground breaking. The graphics sure were sweet though. :D

Since my Thrustmaster's broken, I decided to leave Mat Hoffmann alone for a while (like I have a choice ;) ), and right now I'm on a killing spree in Red Alert 2, when that's done, I'll probably go on another killing spree in Yuri's revenge :D

Red Alert 2? Definitely a Kill Fest. I've played that game to Death on Multiplayer and now any real time combat with resources really freak me out!

Give me the Close Combat series any day.

Just got "Grand Theft Auto 3" for the PC. What a fun game. Definitely not for the kiddies though. Don't think that I have ever played a game where I was the bad guy before. What a hoot! :D

6-14-02, 01:49 AM
You haven't Shakey? You must not have made it too far on Rogue Squadron....if you get enough medals, you can unlock levels where you get to be Darth Vader and blast away the rebel scum...

80sSmurf
6-14-02, 11:51 AM
In Syndicate for the Amiga you also play the bad guys. Control up to 4 trenchcoated mafia henchmen in various big cities, killing civilains, cops, security guards and rivalling mafia members, great game :thumb:

Depending on your political preference you take control of the baddies in basically every C6C RTS game :)

Actually, you are correct. I got kind of bored with that game after the first 4 levels. Guess maybe sometime I need to dig it back out and give it a go again.

I did the same exact thing Shakey....I played through it and beat it, but with no medals. Then I just recently went back to try to get some medals and found the game A LOT easier. Same thing with Wave Race...that damn thing drove me up a wall and I quit, then just tried one more time the other day and won gold on the expert circuit :D

Sometimes stepping away for a while makes it easier to win when you go back...weird gaming phenomenon I've noticed

I've finally got myself a Playstation 2 and a copy of Final Fantasy X! What a great game. I've been playing that a lot lately over the last few nights.

Also rented "Max Payne". Now there's a cool game. Gotta get it out again because I only got half way through.

I have the demo of FFx, and all I can say is WOW  If the rest of that game is just half as good as what's shown in the demo, this should proove to be a must-buy

Terrific game. :thumb:

When I first got the game, I spent a whole night playing non-stop; very addictive game.

I'm nearing the end of this FFX and it certainly is an amazing game, especially graphics wise. Some of the characters are so similair to FF8 though, it's not funny! :D Overall it is a very addictive game with some great features.

I got "Jedi Knight II: Outcast" a few days ago - and it's great fun :thumb: Just got my lightsaber, so Im ready to kick some butt :hammer:

My computer can't deliver top notch graphics, but still it looks very nice indeed. The sound is fine and gameplay is great for a FPS.

Also tried it on-line with full Jedi powers, and it's a lot of fun. Still I can't wait untill the user made maps come along, as the ones that ship with the game aren't too well trimmed for multiplayer. Still worth a go, though!

Playing the demo for "Soldier Of Fortune II" right now.....AWESOME!!! I love the fact that it's "wound sensitive"! If you shoot someone in the arm, they keep coming at you, but can't use that arm. Same with any body part!!!

Not really playing .... Testing (like that doesn't involve playing ;) :D ) .... Have tp upgrade a bunch of roms for MAMEv61b :)
