View Full Version : What are you playing now?
Roemello 7-09-02, 04:00 PM Eternal Darkness...that game is the freakiest damn thing. When you lose your sanity in the game, sometimes it mutes the TV, turns it up really loud, tells you the game is over when it's not, puts up a message saying your memory card has failed and everything has been erased, makes your head fall off... Weirdest damn game I've played to date

Yeah, I can remember playing Syndicate...was actually one of the first games I bought for my PC.
The Gauss cannon was a riot...except when one of your own men/women happened to be in the line of blast... :D ...and I have enjoyed to hunt down the civilians with the mini gun (can you say  ? ).

I have been thinking about getting that one. After the way you make it sound, I think I will. Thanks for the review. :thumb:

Playing the demo for "Soldier Of Fortune II" right now.....AWESOME!!! I love the fact that it's "wound sensitive"! If you shoot someone in the arm, they keep coming at you, but can't use that arm. Same with any body part!!!
I played that game. The whole thing is a blast! I liked popping people in the kneecap and watching their leg fall off. Definitely one worth playing.
I am Playing BgII expansion Thone of Baahl.

I would really like to play that one too. Played the original through till the end - and it was great! Sadly it was a borrowed copy, so I don't own it and have uninstalled it since then, so buying the expansion won't do me much good now.
After Roem's review, I rented "Eternal Darkness" this weekend to see if I would like it. Yup! :thumb: That game is pretty cool.
Roemello 7-14-02, 10:18 PM I love it...good storyline...definitely a mindbender and sickly twisted...my kinda deal :4psycho::lol:
Yeah, definitely twisted... Right now, I am playing Karim. I love it when I walk into that one room and his head falls off. Getting kind of addicted to it.
I just got hooked on Frequency for the PS2. Very addictive game!!
I am also playing Max Payne with Kay. She is the brain and I am the firepower. :)

Maaan, you just invite people to write jokes :) But I will refrain from that just now, and go on to tell about........
Warcraft III, which I will be playing tonight ;) Looking forward to it!
80sSmurf 7-15-02, 07:39 AM  Harket; He does that all the time. Visiting Flix is always a certain jokes-overload .... AAAAAAAAAAAAArrrgh !!!!! ;) :D

i picked it up but haven't installed it yet
80sSmurf 7-21-02, 12:35 PM Been playing quite a lot of MAME this last week, also I finally got around to gettin' the latest Gens (v2.00) so right now I'm updating my Genesis/MegaDrive roms .... when I'm done with that, it's back to testing every single one :1offwall: :p
Having a nervous breakdown over Frequency...sooo addictive..and impossible to master on later levels!!!
Kay and I finished Max Payne and are playing Silent Hill 2 on the PS2.
I also started Medal Of Honor: Frontline on the PS2, since I never played any of the MOH games on the PC.

Silent Hill 2 is an incredible game. That was the first one that I bought for my XBOX.
As for the MOH games. The only one I have played is the PC version and from what I have seen, it doesn't look to be the same as the new "Frontline: game out. If it is, it has deifferent levels that weren't on the PC version. I was kind of hoping they would release that to the PC or XBOX soon. Really a great shooter.
Max Payne rules. I played both Silent Hill 2 and that a few weeks back. Max Payne frustrated me on the final few levels though, because I used all my sniper ammunition to shoot out the mines on the elevator shaft and had none left to shoot the wires on the TV/Radio antenna in the last scene. I had to use a cheat to enable me to gain unlimited ammo. There was no way I was going back to repeat those earlier levels again!
I have Max Payne on the PC and one of the things I really like about it are the number of mod's available. I hear they are working on a Matrix mod for it. I can't wait to see that one.

I've only played the first four levels. So far so good! Looking forward to get some serious battles.

I would love to play this. Horror games rule!!!
Well. Just finished off Eternal darkness. What a great game. I would highly suggest that if you like action/adventure games, to give this one a go. If you have a Gamcube, that is.
Roemello 7-26-02, 07:15 PM Shakey, you may wanna beat it a couple more times carrying over the save data from the previous...unlocks stuff if you beat it 2 more times ;)
I'm having another bash as Resident Evil Code Veronica on PS2. I rented a copy from the video shop about a month ago, but couldn't get to the end of Claire's game. This time I'm conserving my amo, and cruising through. :)
Just started "Duke Nukem - The Manhattan Project". It's okay, but I wish they had gone with a first person perspective again, instead of going back to a side scoller. Side scrolling shooters just aren't as much fun.
80sSmurf 7-29-02, 05:31 AM I have to disagree with ya big time Shakey .... The Metal Slug series is a kick @ss side scroll shooter. Filled with details and fast gameplay. This is a game you can play over and over and over ... Damn now I have to go give it anbother go :D
Haven't tried "Duke Nukem - TMP", but you're right ... When I hear Duke Nukem I think FPS, not the old side scrollers :)

How do you like SH2 Flix? I thought it wasn't nearly as good as the first one. All of the creatures become sort of blended together. They never really vary.
MOH for the PC was incredible!!!! I've played it throught twice! LOL

I've never heard of that series. Is it made for the PC or is it a console game?
80sSmurf 8-01-02, 09:14 AM It's an arcade game, games include Metal Slug, MS 2, MS 2X, MS 3 & MS 4 ... You choose from 4 characters and just shoot and stab your way thru 6-8 levels. Gameplay is one of the best ever, and the details are rich to say the least. They can't really be described, they have to be seen :)
AFAIK there're only made ports of MS 1 & 2 to the PS1, but luckily all games (well except MS4) are runnin' perfectly in MAME ;) :D
.... aaaaaaaaaaand we're back on topic. I'm currently going thru Red Alerts 2 & Yuri's Revenge once again, can never get tired of that game
Just finished another session of Civilization 3. It's timeconsuming but a really great strategy game. I played the Americans and bested nations such as the Russians, French and Chinese :flag: Won the Spacerace way.
Just started playing "Command & Conquer: Renegade". Only into the first level, so I'll hold the review for later. The graphics sure are nice though.
Just bought "Neverwinter Nights" - acclaimed rpg that enables you to create your own scenarioes and take the role of gamemaster online.
Think I'll start with the single player campaign though ;)
I don't know if many of you played the FPS "No one lives forever" or not? If you haven't, it is a spy shooter set in the 60's witha definite taste of Austin Powers. Great game.
Anyway. NOLF2 is due out soon and a teaser level has been released. Supposedly, Fileplanet has the exclusives on the download and if you have used them, you know that their system is a nightmare. Either subscribe or wait in a public queue for hours on end.
Well... I found a couple of places where you can get it without the wait. So, if you want to try it, you can download the demo at one of two links.
Here (http://www.bonusweb.cz/dl.html?filename=/dema/nolf2ohioteaser.exe) or here. (http://www.bonusweb.cz/dl3.html?filename=/dema/nolf2ohioteaser.exe).
Happy gaming. :)
80sSmurf 8-24-02, 05:35 PM Thankyouthankyouthankyou Shakey :thumb:
NOLF is one of my all time fave FPS, it's an awesome game .... I'm gettin' that demo 1st thing tomorrow :D
Shortie Blonde 8-24-02, 10:15 PM I just got totally annihilated by my brother in Agent Under Fire. <hides face in shame>
So? Did you get it yet, Smurf? That katana kicks A$$. ;)
80sSmurf 8-25-02, 04:39 PM Nope, this has been a weird day, haven't had much time to sit down and fiddle with my computer .... Luckily I have tomorrow off from work so .... :D
I'll let you kno what I think as soon as I get it
I'm playing Might & Magic VI: Mandate from Heaven. There is just so much to this series of games. Very non-linear and many side quests.
Just wanted to update you on "Neverwinter nights".
I've played through Chapter 1 and is currently a bit through the 2nd. All in all it's like Baldurs Gate in 3D - to me that's great!!!
I play a generalist Wizard (Lv.8), which is cool. There's a few flaws - like only one henchman allowed and you can't give him equipment. But that's nothing in the overall impression. If you like a good long RPG, then your money is certainly well spent on this title.
I could go on and on - but would much rather have you look at the official homepage. (http://nwn.bioware.com/)
I'm trying to play "Mafia" right now, but it seems to be pretty buggy. Guess I'm gonna have to wait for a patch.
I'm playing Kuusou Kagaku Sekai Gulliver Boy (mighty fun RPG on the Sega Saturn, very comical).
I just finished beating part 1 of Heroine Anthem (http://ha.windthunder.com/) by WindThunder. It is one of the best RPGs I ever played. Gorgeous music, a creative storyline and really cool battle system. The graphics in the game look almost as smooth as Disney animation. Too bad install took 3.5GB of hard disk space O_o I can't wait for part 2 to come out. It's supposed to be out in November.
Since that piece of crap, Mafia, doesn't want to play. I started playing "Syberia". I cannot stress this enough! I f you enjoy adventure games, then get this one. It is the best thing I have seen since "The Longest Journey". The graphics are phenominal and the gameplay is great. Definite thumbs up on the ol' Shakey game meter. :thumb:
Poison PJ 9-18-02, 10:24 AM I've been Playing MGS2 on Hard mode & I'm dominating in Madden 2002's francishe mode thanks Largely to the Fact that I have Jim Kelly & Jerome Bettis om my team. And I finally beat Final Fantasy IX last week
80sSmurf 9-18-02, 02:59 PM Tekken 4 was released today, hopefully I can get the cash to buy it on saturday .... In the mean time I'm playing around with Zsnes9x :)
Decided to break out one of my older games. I am now doing a little tomb raiding with Lara Croft. I had forgotten how cool that game was.
Roemello 9-24-02, 01:30 AM I did the older game bit a few weeks ago...beat Majora's Mask again...fun game :) Since then the only games I've been playing are those in the Xchange arcade
80sSmurf 9-24-02, 11:23 AM I'm abandoning the old faves for a li'l while .... The gf decided to surprise me today, and bought me a copy of Tekken 4 .... KICK @SS (literally ;) )
Baah ... it'll probably only last a week, before I get the emulator withdrawal sumpsons again :D

You know, that is the only Zelda game I haven't beaten. Something about that whole switching back after a couple of days bit bothered me. Maybe I'll give it a go again.

I saw coming attractions and screen shots of the newest one for PS2 that'll be out soon.....mindblowing.

I know...weird at first, but once you figure the schedules for everything, it's not too difficult. As long as ya deposit all your loot in the bank in town and slow time down with the inverted Song of Time, you're set :D

Yeah, I saw some screenshots of it. Looks like it will be awesome. Supposedly, Lara has more of a "bad" attitude in this one. Definitely looking forward to it.
Im playing my new Tekken 4 on PS2....
hot!!!
One Love!!!
Still going on in "Neverwinter Nights" - had a break for a while. Looking forward to "Hitman 2" to hit the shelves in the beginning of October :thumb:
Just finished off "Lord of the Rings" on the XBOX. Great game for adventurers/RPG'ers, but very short. The Mines of Moria kinda rocked though!
Roemello 10-04-02, 03:57 AM Just finished Starfox Adventures....probably go through it again and anxiously await Metroid Prime... :D
I'm anxiously awaiting Metroid Prime also. Used to love that game back in the day.
Roemello 10-05-02, 04:22 AM Nov. 18...though the little game shop I go to probably won't get it til the 20th or 21st. I loved the whole series. Since Rare left town, there's not much else to look forward to :p I may have to focus on PS2 after Zelda hits in Feb. :p
Oh, mama! Just read where the new Tomb Raider and the new Bond games are coming out next month. Looks like it is going to be a busy month for me. :D Not sure which I want to play first. The movie for the new Tomb Raider looks awesome. Guess it will be whichever they get on the market first.
Well, I played Pac-Man earlier.
NHRA Drag Racing - Main Event (Top Fuel is my favorite)
*although I am bummed out that the router I got is causing me trouble connecting to multiplayer on Moto1.net. I have not been able to figure out the port that I need to allow in my router settings. *
:thumb:
Just bought "Hitman 2" and played the first real mission. If you loved the first one you won't be dissapointed. It's got everything the first one did - atmosphere and all. You can now save during missions (up to seven times) which is both good and bad => good because you can now leave your PC without starting the mission over again, bad because it makes it easier (if you use saves).
If you don't know what I'm talking about DL the demo from Eidios :)
