Duran Duran was one of the biggest contributors in the New Romantic genre in the 80's. Which of their 80's albums is your absolute favourite?

I went with Seven And The Ragged Tiger even though Rio comes in with a close second to me.

As I stated in my album review....most definitely Seven and the Ragged Tiger :D Although my favorite song by D2 is 'Hungry Like the Wolf' off of Rio, Seven was just the best overall album :D

New Moon on Monday and Union of the Snake were two of my favourite Duran Duran songs.

Duran Duran's my fav! I had to replace my vinyl once and forget about the cassette tape. I played that thing until it melted!!!

I had to go with Notorious. I love all the songs of the album and The Strange Behaviour tour was awesome. Skin Trade is my fav. track from Notorious. :)

As I said earlier in my reviews of Rio, Duran Duran will always be highly underrated bu the music critics. Shame on them! Duran is one of the greatest band ever! long live to any duranie!

I voted for Rio! It's my favorite of D2's and one of their best from the 80s.

That is the truth! Simon Le Bon's lyrics are some of the greatest along with all the other guys in the group who all have a hand in writing the songs. Like I have said before, Andy Taylor is a great guitarist and he never got the credit he deserved.

Rio was my favorite. That's the one that really got me hooked on them. I love all the others too, but I like Rio bestest. :)

I'm the only one to pick "Arena" so far.. I just loved the live renditions of their songs... I had it on Beta as well ;)

The first Duran Duran album without a doubt!

All their LPs have made a mark on me is some way but the first one....it was when I first got into music and the whole album blew my mind!!!

Guess I didnt see this earlier. My vote was for Rio, but I also liked Duran Duran. They were all good, but it was "Hungry Like the Wolf" that made me get that record, and I also liked that Rio was on it.

Definitely Rio......This album spawned the remix EP's of Rio, Hold Back The Rain, and New Religion, not to mention the great EP for the alternate video version of My Own Way and Like An Angel.

"rio" gets my nod, but they all were pretty good. :)

According to Nick Rhodes, the new album is going to continue where the original 5 left off in 1985, in terms of sound. We'll see....

The very first Duran Duran album I've ever heard is my favorite, and that's Duran Duran. This album has some great songs like: Planet Earth and Girls on Film.

mine is 7 and the ragged tiger as well shadows on your side and the 7th stranger are classics!

I loved the first one, Duran Duran. I have the import version. I love that album!!

My favorite Duran Duran album is Arena. I liked the live sound. Simon Le Bon was so sexy on stage back then.

Notorious for me. Skin trade and the title song still rocks. John Taylor looked great on that cover. The big hair reminded me of Rob Lowe in St. Elmos Fire.

Duran Duran (1981) for me. It was just so New Romantic/New Wave! Despite that that factor, alone, strongly dates the sound now, this album, I feel, was one of the key players in the early Wave (specifically Brit Wave) movement. It accomplished a great deal just in exposing the world -- notably the States -- to this stylish variant of New Wave. Further, it prepared us for the explosion of similar artists (as well as subsequent Duran releases) that would come quickly after and shape the core sound of Wave in the 1980's. Simply, it was a vitally influential album released in the absolute right time and place.

i would have to go with seven and the ragged tiger (small world new moon on monday is what made me a fan too) as well as big thing love that album. new moon on monday and the seventh stranger and palomino and land are among my all time faves.

Hmmm this is a toughie. I enjoy Duran Duran (the first album) quite a bit. Seven and the Ragged Tiger is also good. Ditto Notorious. Big Thing is also good (was that 1989 or 1990)??

My favorite Duran songs are I Don't Want Your Love, Notorious, A View to a Kill, Reflex, New Moon on Monday, Union, etc etc...

Plus in the 90s there were the Wedding Album, Medazzaland, Pop Trash, etc. I love "Playing With Uranium" and "Electric Barbarella". I saw Duran Duran in Montreal December 1997 - great show.

If I had to pick a fave 80s DD album, probably "Seven and the Ragged Tiger", followed very closely by "Duran Duran".

Can't wait for their new album, first in 16 years with the original membership!!
