They are Def Leppard and Duran Duran. Is this a sign of an 80s comeback? Sal Collaziano 1-16-01, 01:12 AM Well, TJ.. The 80s having been making a bit of a comeback since the Summer of '99! I don't know why, but it took me until November 19, 1999 to think of putting this place together. Well, here it is - and here we are! And... Here THEY are! Plenty of 80s bands making comebacks. And NEW bands (Livesay, Atello, etc) playing that same rhythmnatic guitar rock sound from the 80s. The 80s are on their way back... http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif ------------------ The loneliness just fades away thoughts of you just memories no cryin now for what we're missin time won't forget what you meant to me Sarg 1-17-01, 01:02 AM Hi TJ, I for one, am glad that the 80's groups are making a comeback. I belong to a lot of different 80's clubs (message boards), and I'm surprised at how many teens and people in their early twenties are waiting for the 80's bands to return, or at least that 80's style of music. It seems that their tired of the "boy bands" and the artists that are performing songs for "shock value". It's time for music to make a comeback, and don't get me wrong, I think there is still good music out there now. I just don't care for the shock em' with four-letter words in the songs and the kids will buy attitude. ------------------ Dfo193731 1-17-01, 09:27 PM Bring back those days I miss so much and let the kids hear the real music...I saw U2 at Stoney Brook college and to hanging out with Billy Idol at the Lime light in NYC. Danceateria,Reds,Maxs,Pepermint Lounge The Ritz,Malibu,Spize and Spit. Live Aid was the concert to be..in the UK, I remember watching the fans in Philly. from the UK,what a site...Proud to be part of the 80's. If you grew up in New York or Long Island you were on the cutting edge. I was there ...Were You..??? ------------------ Don'ttry to live your life in one day... This message has been edited by Dfo193731 on 01-17-2001 at 07:28 PM Sarg 1-18-01, 12:03 AM I'm getting ready to see Pat Benatar in two concerts here in Florida feb. 9th and 10th at the House Of Blues that friday night and then the Florida State Fair the next night. Bring back those 80's. BTW, in the 80's I lived in Chicago. Sarg Red 1-20-01, 03:41 AM DEF LEPPARD!!! That is awesome! They are near the top of my list of favorite bands from the 80's!! I was wondering what had happened to them. Did they release a new album? I haven't heard anything about them at all. I guess I'm going to have to check their website for some news, as well as Van Halen's. ------------------ Red Red 1-20-01, 04:55 AM Okay, this is just a one off show. It is not a part of a tour. They are going to be recording the show, which is why they booked it. The show will be broadcast on tv, they just don't know when or what channel yet. Also, VH1 is making a movie about the Def Leppard, to be released later this year or early next year, no news on who's going to be in it yet. In fact, the only say the band has in the movie is what songs are going to be played in it and probably on the inevitable accompanying soundtrack. No mention of a new album though, damn! Have fun at the show, TJ. maybe we'll see you on tv. ------------------ Red http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//mayhem.gif This message has been edited by annual_mayhem on 01-22-2001 at 07:06 PM EBG 1-20-01, 05:46 AM Some 80's artists I'm going to see soon are U2(if I can get through on Ticketaster), Bryan Adams in April, who by the way is releasing a new album in the summmer, and Janet Jackson, also releasing a new album and she is supposed to have a tour to go along with it. Pagan 1-20-01, 04:22 PM Hey DFO...I was there in NYC also. You left out alot of great clubs from the NY area though! L'Amour, L'Amour East, Hammerheads, My Father's Place, The Soap Factory, Streets, Manhattans....geez, I could go on and on! TJ 1-20-01, 05:16 PM WOW, just a one off show. That is cool, I'll be thinking about all of ya'll. annual_mayhem, Houston is only about, what 4hrs away, you should try to make the show. It is Thursday, March 1, 7:00 p.m. It is during the week though. But you said you have 3 weeks vacation time coming.........just a thought. The good thing about it is the tickets for the rodeo are just $13. The bad thing is the Dome is not the best place to see a concert. This message has been edited by TJ on 01-20-2001 at 06:20 PM Kitlope 1-20-01, 05:44 PM The 80's making a comeback? Lets get realistic. Its all a 20 year cycle. 5 years or so from now the 80's will be back in full swing. Shit, you can even hear some of it in todays music...this pop-punk. Happier music now that Seattle finally died. U2's new album with that 80's feel is no accident. I look forward to more from the band. Lead the way Bono. Great site Sal. thanks for the invite. I'll be hanging around here a lot in the months...years to come. Mike Red 1-21-01, 01:25 AM Thanks TJ! I won't make that concert as much as I want to. I'm taking a week of vacation now and I'll take another week in May to go to Missouri to see my brother graduate from college. Then, I'll save my last week for around Christmas. I know Houston isn't too far from me, it is possible for me make it. Depends on how my days off fall. BTW, I was just in Houston and drove by the Dome. They are pretty far into building the new stadium. What's the name of the new stadium (I forget)? And are they going to tear down the Astodome when the new stadium opens? ------------------ Red http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//mayhem.gif This message has been edited by annual_mayhem on 01-22-2001 at 07:07 PM TJ 1-21-01, 04:04 PM annual_mayhem, it is going to be Reliant Stadium. They have renamed everything in the complex "Reliant," as in Reliant Astrodome, Reliant Astrohall, Reliant Astroarena. What's next ReliantWorld (this is a joke, for those not from the Houston area. We have a theme park called AstroWorld.) The last I heard they were not going to tear down the Dome (it would suck if they did.) Sal Collaziano 1-22-01, 01:48 PM Well, is Shabooh right? Does it work like a 20 year cycle? If so, that means the surge in 80s music we're hearing right now is only a small taste of what's to come! What do ya think? I think it's about time the music changed to our liking! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif ------------------ The loneliness just fades away thoughts of you just memories no cryin now for what we're missin time won't forget what you meant to me Red 1-22-01, 09:14 PM Well, if it works in exactly 20 year cycles then its right on track. Between 1980 and 1982, most of the top bands were laying the groundwork for their landslide albums, tours and videos. They were releasing great music, it just wasn't in the mainstream yet. Then came 1983, that was the breakout year for many awesome bands and musicians, then it was on! If that's what is about to happen, then this place should be so hoppin we won't be able to keep up with all the activity! ------------------ Red http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//mayhem.gif This message has been edited by annual_mayhem on 01-22-2001 at 07:17 PM |
