Felt was the project of Britain's enigmatic Lawrence Hayward, a singer/songwriter who transformed his long-standing obsession with the music of Tom Verlaine and Television into an impressive catalog of minimalist pop gems and, ultimately, cult stardom.

During the 80's Felt released ten albums & ten singles for the Cherry Red, Creation & el labels, including hit songs such as "Trails of Colour Dissolve", "Penelope Tree", and "Primitive Painters".

Liz Frazer, from Cocteau Twins fame, appears as a guest vocalist on "Primitive Painters". The song is hauntingly beautiful.

Does anyone else remember this band?

Hey, I remember Felt. Lawrence went on to form a band called Denim in the early/mid 90s. I also think that a major reissue programme of Felt cds has just started in the UK.

I have a couple of their albums in my collection - Crumbling the Antiseptic Beauty and Ignbite the Seven Cannons - maybe its time I dug them out again and gave them a listen

They are a bit of an acquired taste. Lawrence had some "issues" I think - well, to be honest, he was as mad as Mad Jack McMad, winner of this years Mr Mad contest. But a good band .

Denim were a bit more accesible and their debut album is worth checking out -I also remember a single "Back in Denim" which came out about 92/93 ish.
