So i check my partner and we run down courtland back to the WTC,one of the towers are missing, was gonne, and i couldnt believed. The radio was going crazy with calls for help, lot people on the port authority was trap(sub-solo of south tower) We got call to regroup on B'way.By then i could hear cracking noises and a lot flying glass and then another big rumble lot dust and smoke...I stay there for 3 days straight, couldnt eat because the terrible smell of death and burned aviation fuel. I left the force in 2003 and did go back home but i will never forget the friends i lost that day.

I was at home messing about with the computer when the phone rang and a buddy of mine told me to turn on the TV because America had been attacked. I was like, "wtf?!?" That was after the 2 plane hit - until then I didn't know.....

I was getting ready for work when the first one hit. I was living at home with my parents after my divorce, and my mom came in and told me something happened. So we were watching the Today show with Katie Couric while they were trying to figure out what happened when the second plane hit, I watched it live on television. My jaw dropped a mile, it felt like the beginning of the end of the world. Even though I didn't know anyone involved in either of the attacks, it was truly devestating to me. I watch for awhile then had to go to work (this was before the towers even fell.) I didn't find out about *that* until lunch time. For some reason, it didn't occur to me that they would fall down. I just thought, well they'll rescue the people and it will all be ok. Even after the towers fell, I kept thinking, well...they'll find somebody alive, they'll be able to save *somebody*. I guess I was naive and the eternal optimist.

I was amazed at the outpouring of grief from people in other countries. I had just considered it to be an American problem, and that when terrorist attacks happen in other countries, we don't really hear much about them from our news media. I was very honored and felt rejoice that our "world" neighbors could understand and support us in our grief and recovery. This event certainally opened my eyes and heart.

I was at work on the phone with someone from Chicago, my boss came over and told me a plane had just hit the World Trade Center. I told the woman on the phone and we all assumed it was an accident. Minutes later I was told of a second plane hitting and I went into the boardroom to turn on the TV, I called local Customs (as I'm in the international transportation industy) to find out Customs were in a state of emergency. Alot of Planes destined to the US were diverted here as they could not land in the US. It wasan errie feeling looking up at the sky and seeing plane after plane in holding patterns waiting to land.

Going home that night I had to drive by the Colesium (hockey rink) where thousands of air plane travellers ended up staying for several days after the attack

I was in Surgery on an operating table having an endoscopy to establish the presence of stomach ulcers :irked: When I came out of theater the first aircraft had just hit the WTC and it seemed like I was in the middle of a Tom Clancy novel.

I had just walked in the front door of my office & the receptionist was listening to the radio... she said that a bomb had gone off in the WTC. We all ran into the boss' office & turned the TV on just in time to watch the 2nd plane come into view. It was all like slow motion when it crashed into the tower. We all stood there with our jaws on the ground. Then ALL of us burst into tears and just held onto each other. The mothers in the bunch were the first to REALLY freak out. A couple of us went and yanked our kids RIGHT out of school so we could make sure they were safe and were WITH us. At that point, we had no idea what was next. More and more crap kept happening. I know I'LL never forget...

I was at work, having just heard that the 1st plane flew straight into the tower, and thinking, no way that was an accident, and then after the 2nd, well, everyone pretty much knew what was up, but it was the Pentagon hit that drove it all home...I also remember where I was when Kennedy was killed, and for the 1st moon landing...I'll NEVER forget 9/11...

Guys,

It was a terrible day and although their target was the U.S. they managed to hit all of the free world with those events. Believe me, 95% of the planet felt for the US that day

I was at work, and angrier than I ever imagined I could be. We saw the smoke on the horizon, and then watched them fall on TV. My guitarist Gregg was working construction about a mile away and the second plane flew right over their heads. He watched the people jump from the flames.

I know I'll never forget. Too many people have already.

I was on my way to work & caught the second crash on TV when I walked in the door. It was so surreal for me. Then when they hit DC, I completly lost it.

I will never forget that day for the rest of my life.

I was at work and had my radio on, and it was announced on the radio station I was listening to, and I ended up breaking the news to the people in my office. Then, one of my co-workers who was off that day called in, and while she called, she had said another plane had flown into the other building and she watched it. Since I work in law enforcement, our place was surrounded by officers and blocked off to anyone entering the rest of the day.

This past Saturday I was in New York City for the day, and the first place I wanted to go to was Ground Zero. This is the first time I had been down there since the attacks. That sadness that I felt back on 9/11 and after, came right back. I ended up stopping in the Stage Door Deli to eat which had pictures of some of the firemen in there on the wall.

I know I will never forget that day, EVER!

I was in my classroom preparing for my new students since it was a day before the first day of school. I heard about it first from a parent who came to another classroom, then I heard it on the radio. I didn't see it until they let us go home!

I was asleep, it happened during the night here, but when I woke up I couldn't believe what I was seeing on the TV, It was like a movie or something. We saw as the second one hit though - it was horrible and i'll never forget it. I can't imagine what it was like for people to actually see it with their eyes and be there. horrible.

I was home sick from work that day. I turned on the TV and the first plane had just hit, but at that time people figured it was an accident. I was watching when the second plane hit and when both towers fell. Then the reports of the Pentagon being hit and the fourth plane crashing in Pennsylvania. Didn't take long to figure out what was going on. It really was like watching a movie and I'll never forget it. I don't see how anybody can say that people have forgotten that day because I know I never will.

I was at work and had no idea it was happening until someone came in and said something. We were checking pics online and had a small tv here to see the coverage. It was all so surreal and it was almost as if time was standing still for the day.

I was in my car dropping my daughter off at school at 7:45. The morning DJs were talking about it, and I thought it was a joke, so I didnt think anything of it.

Then I got home, and turned on Good Morning America around 8 AM...my son was barely 3 months old...and I saw Diane Sawyer reporting about it, and in the window behind her, I saw the 2nd plane fly past. I called my husband to tell him, and he thought I was kidding, then when I told him that they were replaying the plane flying on TV, he took it serious. I had no idea that what I thought was a replay of footage, was actually the 2nd plane..

My son had a Drs appointment that morning, so I put a tape in the VCR, and left...at the office the TVs were all on CNN, and I saw the collapse, and the entire office went quiet. It was terrible. I still have those tapes...and newspapers...everytime I see the footage of that day, I feel those emotions all over again. I wasnt online at that time, so I relied on TV for my information...it was truely scary.

And then that afternoon I had to explain to my 6 year old why her cartoons werent on, and why she kept seeing those planes, and what were those fires for?

It was the most horrible thing I have ever seen, and something that I never want to have to explain to my children again. I dont think there is anything harder than telling a 6 year old that we are under attack.

In Houston, there were huge problems, because people were speculating that NASA, and the Ship Channel were on the target list...and of course Bushs ranch in Crawford..

I was terrified.

I remember after Bush grounded all air traffic, I looked up in the night sky, and saw all these jets flying around...and all I could think of was Oh my God, we are at war..

I was at home with my kids, BC called me and told me. I thought it was a bad joke. But he was so serious I hung up and ran up the street to my friends and we sat glued to CNN almost all day. It felt like a pile of lead lodged in my gut all day. It made me sick to think of what kind of evil monster could do such a thing to so many innocent people. I cried and had to try to explane to my children why such a thing was happening to innocent people. I called BC about 50 times that day on his cell, updating him, sharing different information and just needing to know he was safe, even though we were thousands of miles away i just had to hear his voice as much as I could that day. I cried for the families who lost so many that day, and Prayed nothing more would add to this devestating day. We bought a huge framed picture of the towers, we hung it in our living room, we will never forget...

I was at work when I heard it. It was shocking to say the least. I know I didn't get anything done that day.

I work on a major approach to St. Louis (Lambert Airport). The most eerie thing was looking up the next day and seeing no airplanes.

I was enjoying my last day of vacation from my job. My husband was getting a remote start put in his truck. I remember walking into Sound Tropics ( where my husband's remote start was put in ) and seeing all kinds of televisions with pictures of the plane crashing into the 1st tower. At first I thought maybe it was a movie or something, but they just kept showing the same things over and over again. I asked the owner what was going on and he told me that America was being attacked. I asked him if he was kidding, and he told me no. I just stood there in shock, paralized in fear. I knew someone, that I went to school with, who lost his 32 yr. old wife when the first plane crashed into the 1st tower. I felt so bad. The experience inspired me to write a poem about the recue efforts. It was published by The International Library of Poetry. If anyone is interested in reading it, please go to my profile and email me. Under subject, please put 80's exchange and I will email you back with the information to read it. It was definately a day that I won't soon forget, and never will.

I was at work listening to 95.5 WPLJ and heard the news. We all went upstairs to the lunchroom and gathered around the tv. :(

Here is one of the few pictures I have with the towers in them. I took this pic in October 2000 a few days after I moved in. The quality isn't that great because it was a disposable camera.

I was overseas at the time of the attacks, which made for scary times for both me and my parents.

I was in an internet cafe in Hangzhou. One of my friends messaged me and gave me a link from the New York Times, telling me that the WTC and the Pentagon had just been attacked. Soon after I saw the footage on TV. The next day we were eating dinner and mulling over what had happened. There was a possibility that the rest of the program could get cancelled if China decided to side with the attackers.

I am grateful that everything went alright in the end, especially since over time I began to feel safer there than in the US, since the hysteria seemed to climb higher and higher every day back home. Both my parents became very worried when our group flew to Tibet in October, and they were practically hysterical when I announced in November that I was going to Japan to visit a friend in Osaka. My mom kept trying to convince me to take a boat instead of a plane and my dad did his best to persuade me not to go altogether. Needless to say, both failed in their attempts.

I think I've rambled long enough...:)

I was driving to the court house to file for my divorce. John Boy and Billy interupt the song that is on to inform everyone listening to the radio station that there has been an accident at the pentagon. They said they would give more information as it came in to the station. I turn off the car, I was in shock. Certainly confused by the fact that there was a problem on the lawn of the pentagon. I get inside the court house and I am waiting for my name to be called and the police at the court house start mumbling to each other. Then this gentleman who was on his cell phone starts saying "What do you mean a plane has landed in the pentagon?" The cops start to hush him, and I get up to leave. They tell me I'm next to see the judge and if I would only wait a minute they will let me go. About five minutes later I am called before the judge. He tells me I need some more stuff for my divorce and I say I have to go. I ask him "HAve you heard what is going on?" He says "No." I tell him I have to go and I will re-file later. The next thing I know as I am leaving they are telling everyone else who is behind me that court is closed. Every body go home. I get to the car and turn John Boy and Billy back on. And everything starts streaming in. My family has military members in it. They are ALL getting called into work. I call my bestfriend (who I am now married to) and he takes me to Chili's to get some coffee and watch everything on t.v. I did not have t.v. at the time because I was hardly ever home. We sit down in a booth and we are stairing at the t.v. Mouths hanging open on everyone who has come in the resteraunt. Then we watch as they show the plane hit the tower, and the explosion! Oh My GOD! Stunned silence. No one is working. The entire kitchen crew and waitress staff are all crammed around the bar with the rest of us patrons watching t.v. AND THEN THE FIRST TOWER FELL!!! We all cried. I had no idea what to do. None of us did. Then THE SECOND TOWER FELL! That was it. We left to go get my daughter from school and starting making phone calls. Trying to find out who was at the pentagon, and who was safe. The phone lines were down. It took about two days to find every body to know if they were okay. I'll never forget that day. When I was a kid I thought danger was so far away. This is my daughter and my sons legacy. That was the day I truely realized my responsibilities. HARSH!!!! :(

I was just logging off the net in the morning. I caught a glimpse of a still photo of the 1st plane's impact and I thought it was a promo for some movie. I had to go to Best Buy, and when I got there, I went over to one of the workers that was watching the TVs. I asked the guy what was happening and as he explained, the tv showed the second plane impacting. We kinda stopped talking for a minute, just trying to comprehend what it all meant.

I had the day off and had been up late the prior night. I was asleep when I heard my roommate calling my name. I woke up and I will never forget it. He was standing at my bedroom doorway and he just looked at me and matter-of-factly said "We've just been attacked." Like everyone else, he thought when the first one hit it was just an accident, so he didn't wake me until the second tower and pentagon were hit.

I had been working in Syracuse NY several years before it happened and Cantor Fitzgerald was one of my accounts. They lost almost everyone. Very sad day.

I was at work. My husband called me and said a plane hit the WTC and I assumed it was an accident...maybe a cessna or something. While we were on the phone he said a second plane hit and I thought it was strange but was still not comprehending what was going on. I hung up and tried to look up information online but you couldn't get to any news sites at all. Alot of coworkers started rushing by heading to the lunch room where a TV had been set up. I heard someone saying as they walked by that the pentagon was hit and I realized what was going on and headed in to see the news. I couldn't believe it when I saw the footage of the planes crashing and then when the first tower went down my heart jumped into my throat. I ran to my desk to call my family since they are pretty close to the city and I couldn't get through to anyone. Several of my coworkers have family there and were already out the door. Our CEO, CFO and VP were there at that time and staying in the hotel that I think was right between the towers or right next to them so everyone was panicing about them but it turned out they were already out of that area when it happened. The whole day was so surreal. It was hard to believe what had happened. It didn't even fully hit me until a couple days later on the way home from work. "God Bless the USA" came on the radio and I just bawled my eyes out thinking of everyone that died...especially the babies that were on those planes...that really got me.

At the time the first plane hit, I was Most likely walking to the kitchen to get my morning coffee. (Remember there is a 3 hour difference between Seattle and New York. 10 AM New York time equals 7 AM Seattle Time). I hadn't turned on the news yet so I had no idea what was going on in NYC. It wasn't until I got in the truck and turned on the radio. News of the WTC was all over the news. I thought the DJ was pulling our legs. I Mean WHO in their right mind would do something so awful? When I got to work we headed to the only place where we had cable TV. One of the conference rooms. We set up shop in there that day so we could keep up with what was going on in New York!. Needless to say we didn't get much done that day.

I remember my wife calling me. She was in tears! One of her best friends lives in Brooklyn. Her friend had called her frantic. Her friend's brother was an officer with the NYPD and she hadn't heard from him all day that day (she didn't hear from him until 9-14) fearing he was dead. 9-11 will NOT be forgotten! Them assholes didn't just attack Manhattan. They didn't just attack New York, They didn't just kill over 3,000 innocent people, They attacked MY HOME...AMERICA! I was and still am very angry about that!

TOTALLY agree! I was actually really surprised about other countries' outpouring of grief and sympathy to that event. I remember seeing this one webpage that had pictures taken all around the world of the various displays of flowers, candles, signs and just people stopping for a moment of prayer/reflection for something that happened a world away. I was really touched by that.

I was supposed to be off work, so I slept in, and was woke up by a phone call from my work. I was working at the US Transportation Command at the time, coordinating medivac flights.
When a national emergency occurs, we activate a system called NDMS ( http://www.ndms.dhhs.gov/ ) and the only two people besides myself trained in its operations and requirements were both on leave, one in Georgia the other in Hawaii. So, I got to go in and make phone calls to the pentagon, the Sect of Defense and a few other offices I cant mention by name. When the building fell, I was at home, and saw it on TV, I was in shock.

I was at work. I remember the sky was bright blue and the clouds were puffy and white. I don't know why I remember that. I went to get coffee at Au Bon Pain and was standing in line when a woman had said a plane had hit the World trade center in NYC.. I don't know why but I thought about the movie King King and had myself convinced that it was a prop plane flying too low. It wasn't until the second plane hit that I realized that they were commercial flights. I ran upstairs and watched the news for a little while. When I got back to my office Lt. Williams was standing in the doorway to my office and he told me about the Pentagon. He was shaking so hard he dropped his coffee cup and it shattered. We cried after the plane crashed in Penn.

They locked the station down after that. They called in all available officers and they worked around the clock watching the nuclear reactor at MIT... I was numb for weeks. I cried the hardest when the lowered the flag to half mast and took out the black bunting to drape the entrances of the police station.

The weirdest thing is that for months after the attack people would just come by the station to thank us.. They held vigals (sp) outside. Random people would just come in and hug the officers. Kids would drop of pictures. It was surreal..

Slayergrrl, I think (At least that the way I thought), most people then saw an police officer and just wanted to thank them for what they do every day. Most of us take cops for granted (Sorry to say), 9-11, and the images of the NYPD and FDNY were Eye openers for the entire nation. The way I see it, Whether you are a cop in New York City, Boston, Cambridge, L.A. or even right here in Seattle, You all always had a common goal before, During and After 9-11.

You can't tell me though that it didn't feel in some way rewarding what those folks did. They KNOW who's got their backs.

I have great respect for police officers in general. They put their lives on the line to make sure all other citizens are safe, and I wil gladly show anyone wh does that the respect they deserve.

I do not, however, have any respect for the police in my hometown. I think the deck they're playing with is all jokers, because that's all I see. How safe are we when if an officer knows your brother, father, or other family member, they'll let you go? In May 1998, this guy was drunk, was swerving all over the road, and was pulled over two times by two different officers. Instead of hauling his a$$ in, they let him go because they knew his dad and didn't want the son to have a police record that would blacken his dad's name. Later that night, that man's car collided head on with another car, killing the two people in the front seat of the other car and killing the passenger in his car. He's now a vegetable. This could have all been prevented if 1) he wasn't drinking and driving and 2) these cops were more concerned about doing their job rather than protecting someone's reputation. I had hoped that someone's a$$ got canned after this happened, but seeing as these two men are stil on the force makes me believe the police in my neighborhood back home are there to do anything but serve and protect.

I was laying down and didn't know anything until my husband called me in the car on the way to work. I had gotten up that morning as usual, made our breakfast and got his lunch ready but for some reason I felt very tired and went to lay down right after he left. When I got the call, all he said to me is, are you ok, do you know what is going on?

He said put the tv on. Just at that point I saw the 2nd tower get hit and was in total shock. Like how can this be happening and hit so close to home  :( I told him to get home ASAP then I called my parents and all family and friends who lived or worked in NYC and thank God after many hours of tracking them all down they all were ok... I will never forget that day or what happened...

Speaking as one resident of the west coast, Let me tell you. In my mind, the minds of my co-workers, neighbors, and family, New York was instantly transformed. Not as a city, but as a huge symbol of what we all called home. It may have happened in NYC, but it still happened in America. I was thinking to myself "You mess with New Yorkers, your still messing with my countrymen."

Kudos to all the firefighters and Cops in NYC. They really worked their asses off.

Bottom line, It happened in New York, but it was still an attack on our home soil. Thousands of my fellow Americans either Died, were injured, or are still missing. That just doesn't go well with me.

If anything good came out of 9-11, it united our country as a whole, and in many respects United the world.

I had a 9-11 tribute site made up on geocities. It was a slide show of pictures from that day and the week following. I wanted to place special emphasis on the police, firefighters, and survivors that day to show just how bad it was. Geocities deleted the site for inactivity, but I think I still have the files backed up on a cd somewhere. I'll look for them and put the site back online on one of my ISP servers so that it won't be deleted.

UPDATE: I found the files on my slave drive. I've uploaded them to one of my Sites. Here's the link (http://home.comcast.net/~acwbbm/911/) if anyone would like to view it. Dial-up users may want to wait a few minutes for it to load. There are a lot of files.

I think the news started to filter through about 3 o clock over here in the UK. (I was at home at the time) We didn't leave our seats for about 3 hours just watching it all unfold live on TV. I was in complete disbelief of what I was seeing!!! I never actually once considered that the towers would fall! Even when they had it didn't feel real!! I just kept thinking that it was one of those vivid dreams you have!!! Then came the Pentagon hit and I wondered how many more!!
I also remember the panic that followed when a plane went down in the Queens(?) area of NY!!!!!!

*edit* In my opinion the Pensylvania plane side of things got overlooked.

I was in my car driving home from a local mall after a shopping spree when I hear the news about the first of the Twin Towers being hit, at first I thought it had engine trouble and crashed accidentally, then I heard about the second plane and realized it was a terrorist attack instead!! How I managed to manouver the car to my house, I don't know as I was in a state of shock! My dad worked in the States at the time and he informed me about the plane which had been taken over by the passengers and landed off target even before that news had reached Dutch TV!

I was in the library, and that particular morning wasn't such a good morning to begin with, mainly because I had found out a friend of mine committed suicide the night before...

We sat there, trying to work, because the day was very tempting. Like Slayergrrl, I remember the sky that day. It was just a clear, pristine cerulean here, with a slight breeze.

One of our teachers came in and had hooked up a television set in the middle of the library. As the bell rang, he turned the tv on, and I saw the smoke billowing out of the towers. I asked if there was a large fire or something, and he shook his head slowly.

Afterwards, I had gone into the art room, where it was announced over the intercom that we were attacked, and that the Pentagon had also been hit. I could not believe what was happening...

That was very well done. I hadn't seen most of those pictures before.

Thanks for sharing your site with us.

I was on the interstate halfway between Washington D.C. and NYC. I was listening to the radio when suddenly the song was interrupted to break the news. My first thought, actually, was that it was a terrorist attack, but quickly tossed that thought aside as I tried to think positively. A few minutes later it broke that it was indeed an attack.

My immediate reaction was to call my father at work. He only worked a few blocks from the Pentagon and I was scared outta my mind.Mom and I tried continuously to get through to his office, but all the lines were down at the time. Once we were able to talk, he assured us that his building was on lockdown and that they were heavily guarded. I got to my job, picked up the children I cared for from school and we went home to watch the developing news for the rest of the day.

I was at work and me and my way cool boss Paul were being lazy drinking coffee. We had a TV upstairs in the break room and the news was on. I walked up there to get something and saw the horror. I called him upstairs and we watched and cried. I'll never forget that day. I'm filled with sorrow and I still cry when I think about it. All those poor innocent people.

I was on my way to work listening to a morning show and they were interviewing Carrot Top of all people! At that time I didn't know what had happened til I got to work. I was working in the tallest building in St. Louis as well. When I got to work one of the secretaries came in and told us the a plane had struck WTC. Then 10 minutes later she cam back in and told us the second plane had hit. Everyone in out building wanted to go home.

I was at work, and my mother called to tell me about the first plane that had crashed into Tower 1. I thought it was just a horrible air plane crash. I was asking her questions as the second plane flew into Tower 2. I knew then it wasn't just another airline disaster. I told my co-workers, and we turned a radio on to listen to what was going on. I had just found out I was pregnant with my son, Danny, and all I could think was that I had to get to my mother. I did not know or understand exactly what was happening, and I wanted to be safe. I didn't want to be out in the general public. If the USA was being attacked, and a nation-wide disaster loomed, I wanted to be with my family when it happened. My #1 thought was that I had to get some where safe to protect myself and the new life I was carrying. Luckily, the company I was working for let all of us leave early, so I got home, safe and sound. However, for many days after the attacks, I did not feel comfortable leaving my house at all. I will NEVER forget that day. It is kind of like asking our parents, "Where were you when JFK got shot?"

I was driving to work. I thought I heard the announcer say that a "train" had hit the WTC. When I got to work I learned what really had happened. I was in shock, I wanted to call everyone I knew to make sure they were ok. It was a dark day for those of us around the globe too!

I had just come home from dropping my kids off at school and was watching ESPN Sports Center. I remembered that there had been a particularly gruesome injury in the Monday Night Football game and since I had a similar experience years ago, I'm kind of squeamish about that kind of stuff. ESPN is on channel 47 on our system, so I dropped down to 46, which is one of the news channels. They were showing the first tower burning, and mentioned that a small plane had hit the building, so I called my wife to tell her about it. As I was calling her, the second plane hit and I realized that it hadn't been an accident after all. I worked cafeteria later that day, and they asked me not to mention what had happened to the kids. All of the adults were walking around looking shell-shocked, and the kids knew something was wrong. The little ones didn't know to ask, but the fifth graders had figured out what was going on when they came through line. They asked me if it was true that we had been attacked, and I told them it was. This earned me a few dirty looks from the faculty, but by that time I had pretty much had my fill of them anyway, and I figured the kids had a right to know. I also had my own credibility to consider. The rest of the day and night were a blur and we left the news stations on all night just to keep track of what was happening, something we usually only did for election returns.

I was at work, one of my coworkers told me that a plane had hit one of the towers.

We turned on the TV in the training room, and before long almost the entire plant was watching.

I remember we were all discussing whether the towers would fall....

Definetly a sad day in our history........

On my way to work. As soon as I heard about it on the radio, I had a gut feeling it was a terrorist attack. Got chills when I heard of the second impact!! :(

I was bringing the empty trash cans back up the driveway when my son came running out handing me the phone. It was my sister who told me to go turn on the TV immediately. I turned it on just in time to see the second plane hit. My first words were "What the heck was that?" Oooh, that was an awful day. My husband could see the smoke from the Pentagon while he was driving for work and called me to ask what else was going on. I had to tell him it was hitting close to home now too and to get his butt home.

I just went through 7 pages and realize I never posted on this thread.

I was working at 102.3 the point (no longer around). I was filling in for the guy who ran the morning show. We had "Bob and Sherry" on at the time. They started talking about the first plane, all of a sudden Sherry says "Another plane just hit". It all started rolling from there. I remember running back and forth from the news room to the studios (we had 2 stations there at the time) I was passing on news to our news director as he was on air and as it was happening. It was a long day, I just remember I didn't want to be doing what I was doing and wanted to be with Wendy and the boys (back when we were still together). I ended up going home around 5 pm. My shift was supposed to be over at 10am.

was in a computer lab at school and someone said check out this pic on CNN.com. it look like a small plane had hit one of the twin towers. at that point no one really knew what was going on. it was about 8:15 central time. when others tried to go to the web page everything was locked up, because everyone who was everyone was on the web checking it out. At first no one thought anything. i went to my next class and next thing we know classes are called off and all the military(reserve and national guard) guys who were in class took off. i live close to ft. hood so they were called on alert quick.

it was a crazy day and watching the second plane hit the second tower was heartbreaking. though i didn't see it live and had to watch the replay. even today when they show anything about that day it just gets me going again.

I was asleep. I woke up to find out from a relative what had happened. Then i had to go in and work that night. It was terrible as the days went by we heard of more and more ppl being dead. We used to have a moment of silence at the beginning of each our and hope they found more ppl alive not dead.

I was in a staff meeting, when one of the accountants came busting through the conference room door to announce the first hit. We all looked at her as if she was on the good stuff. Since we were finishing up our meeting we walked out and the feel of the office was heavy and sad.
The daycare on site was looking for me, my daughter was there and since we worked on the ship channel we were the first to take our children to the debriefing room where the TV was on and the second building was being hit.
It was a day of disbelief, it was surreal; we were all silent, holding our children; waiting for someone to tell us what the next move was.
I will never forget that feeling.

Wow, heavy topic we have here. I was half asleep/ half awake, and my clock radio was on. I heard what i thought was something about bombs going off in America. Half asleep i stumbled into my living room and turned the tv on at 6am. There i was confronted with fotage of CNN showing one plane going into the twin towers, then later on another. Everyone was in a daze that day, kind of somber. I brought the newspaper and the headline was "America Attacked". I still have the newspaper articles. I personally think it is one of the greatest human tragedies ever.

I was at my desk at work, just having returned after a long weekend. I was finishing my first cup of coffee & reading some fluffy news articles before I started working, and the guy across the hall from me said "Some dumb@$$ just flew a plane into the World Trade Center."

Eventually we all ended up in the CEO's office, watching CNN with wide open mouths. People were crying. None of the phones were ringing. We all went home a little early because nobody could think straight and a lot of people were worried about friends & relatives in the cities that were attacked.

I recently found out that a guy I went to high school with (I was never close friends with him, but we sat next to each other in band for six years) escaped from the WTC just before the first tower fell.
