What (in the Name of Love) was my choice. A popular radio favourite here back in the day :thumb:

I LOVED this group.
A rather funny story about the making of the video to their "Voices in my head" can be found here: Official Band site - FAQ (http://www.pjbmusic.com/main.html)
Q: Why was "Voices in my Head" chosen as the second single and what was the video all about?
A: "Voices in my Head" was a personal favourite, we felt that after "Always," which was a very commercial single, we would release something a little more "left field."
We had already had experience in video with "Always Something There To Remind Me" but nothing had prepared us for the "Voices" production. "Always" was shot in one 18 hour day on 16mm film by a young Director/Producer team. For "Voices" EMI had enlisted the help of an existential Polish director whose one aim in life was to make ours a living hell. Looking back the gruelling schedule of "Always" seems like a vacation in comparison.
We had moved into an hotel called the "Imperial" which had been a very nice place during the Edwardian era. One could say that it had faded charm, but there was nothing charming about the plumbing, it hadn't been touched in seventy years!
It was a freezing cold January morning, (crack of dawn was the usual time for videos) and we were driven to a deserted warehouse in the East End of London, where we spent most of the day hanging around, the boredom being broken only occasionally by running on a treadmill, or being driven at high speed on the back of a lorry up and down a draughty tunnel.
The worst was yet to come however; the director had a brilliant idea, we would throw paint all over each other! It was getting close to midnight and we were freezing to death in a deserted warehouse in the most inhospitable part of London and now, we were to be covered in paint.
By the time we got back to the hotel, misery would have been looking on the bright side of things. Of course getting the paint off was virtually impossible, the aforementioned plumbing only adding to the despair, so the only thing left was a post trauma cocktail in the hotel bar.
Rob and I, and the A&R guy Hugh Stanley-Clark, were bemoaning our dreadful day when a strange man approached us. He threatened us in no uncertain terms, at one point putting his face inches from Rob's (who was studiously avoiding his gaze) and declaring that he was the King of Bavaria and needed a cigarette. He snatched the cigarette from Rob's mouth and carried on ranting for some time before the police came and led him away.
It was a fitting end to an awful day. And people think filming is glamorous! (Pete Byrne)
Roemello 11-15-04, 01:35 AM 'Always Something there to Remind Me'.... with 'Promises, Promises' a close second
Zaragon81 11-15-04, 02:00 AM "A Very Hard Act To Follow", by at least a 100 miles. This was the non-album B-side to "Promises Promise". Very gripping, dramatic song with a choppy, angular melody and some really cool xylophones.

Guess I am with the rest of the pack on this one. "Always something there to remind me" is probably my favorite, but "What (in the name of love)" is definitiely a close second! Man, I miss good music like this. :(
One hit wonders down here. "Always something there to remind me". Loved that song. Even my dad liked it because he remembered the orginal version from when he was younger. He normally doesn't like modern music.
Tanya1976 11-15-04, 08:04 PM I love their cover of Dionne Warwick's song, "Always something there to remind me", so I voted for it. However, "Promises, Promises" is a great one too.

80's Eric 4-02-05, 04:16 PM Oh geez folks, Naked Eyes is my favorite group of all-time! It's hard to vote for one song as my favorite, but I voted for "other" because "Once Is Enough", an album track off their self-titled CD is just quintessential Naked Eyes! I had been without the song for years (I wore out 2 cassettes) until recently when I purchased their "Everything And More" CD. It is a collection of remixes, b-sides and unreleased tracks. It even includes a version of "Promises, Promises" with backing vocals by Madonna! She happened to be at the studio at the same time with Jellybean Benitez and sang along to the track for the heck of it. Hearing Pete Byrne and Madonna singing together just gives me goosebumps. If you're a Naked Eyes fan, you need to pick this one up to complete your collection! Thanks for the poll...
"Always Something There To Remind Me" got my vote.

Always something there to remind me was one of those songs that defined the 80's sound as soon as I heard it. Clean mixing, good sequencing, cool drum machine.
Always Something There To Remind Me with Promises Promises a close second.

Poindexter 5-03-05, 11:38 PM I guess Emotion In Motion. That song should have been released as their follow up to Always Something There To Remind Me instead of Promises Promises ;)
