I was curious if anyone else has sampled the new Holiday Spice Pepsi that is out now? I saw a bottle on sale today at the supermarket and thought that I would check it out. Not bad, but it would probably taste better as a spiked-up holiday punch. I've been trying to figure out the flavorings, as they are not listed on the bottle. Maybe cinnamon, cranberry and a touch of all spice?

Spiked Pepsi! ... I'm up for that ... oh wait, it says Spice Pepsi ... DAM!
I could use a stiff drink right about now!

We Canuck are always the last to ever see these new 'fangled' flavors that out, just like the Colonel's Cripy Chicken thing a few years back ... :irked:

Oh well, I'd try it if it came out up here.

Sorry, not me. I've never heard of it, but then again, I try not to drink soda. I was taught at a very early age from dance instructors that it is bad for the muscles.

I would admit though, I've always thought Pepsi had a better flavor than coke, however, I myself don't prefer colas at all. I know, I'm wierd.....people tell me that all the time.....

You were taught wrong dear. I've been weight training for 20 years and always been active in sports, sucking down Diet Pepsi's the entire time. Hasn't done a thing negative to my muscles.

I'll probably try this, because I try any new taste....but somehow it seems wrong to have "Egg Nog Pepsi.

As for muscles and caffeine, it is a known fact, but I won't argue with you, as you are obviously doing somthing right, 20 years eh, that's really awesome. Keep it up. Just try to steer away from too much caffeine. Caffeine gives me headaches....Anyway, as you and I always have major differences in opinion, I'll stop right here. STOP. Smiles and blinks.

from about.com:

A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Georgia has found evidence that caffeine taken prior to exercise can lessen the muscle pain experienced during intense exercise.

The study, published in the Journal of Pain, found that caffeine taken one hour before exercise reduced thigh muscle pain during exercise. Participants took either a placebo or a caffiene pill and then rode an exercycle for thirty minutes at high intensity. Individuals reported substantially less pain in their thigh muscles after taking caffeine compared to the placebo. However, results varied with the individual caffeine habit. Caffeine seemed less effective at reducing pain in heavy caffeine users. This is likely due to a change in the receptors that causes tolerance to caffeine's effects.

In the past much research has shown that caffeine improves endurance during exercise. This study suggests that improved endurance may be related to caffeine's hypoalgesic properties. The next steps are to learn more about the mechanism behind the pain reduction.

Yeah, I had teammates in high school that used to take speed before cross country and track matches. It may have improved their endurance, but I doubt you could call it healthy.

Jilly, I was thinkin' of trying those Jones flavors myself. Who know's, maybe they would end up tasting good afterall.

Pagan, bro, add smoking Nutmeg (yes, some kid told me at 13 that it would make you high. Heck, it was free for the taking from my Mother's spice collection. Didn't work) to my list. Also stole some Cupric Chloride (CuCl2) from Science Class to be cool. Told some other kids it was Opium and they dusted their skunk bud with it. Well, it didn't do anything but make us naseous (I mean it was Copper + Chlorine powder) but produced a cool looking green flame. When my bud found out what it really was he wanted to kick my behind especially when he wasted a good 1/4 (oz., not lb.) on it. Just dumb teeanage crap.

AngelicR, I admit up front I know nothing about Dancing or Weight Traning so there is my disclaimer. But I wonder if they told you that Soda Pop was bad for your muscles because of all of the sugar and corn syrup in it. Pagan drinks Diet so that might account for why that isn't a factor for him. But even in my neophyte (on those subjects) mind I know there is a difference between Weight Training and Professional Dancing. One is pure power and the other more of an art so it would tend to make one believe that some things would affect one more than the other and vice versa. Just my two pennies.

BTW, he is right about you not winning. We both are Paisano's and when we are passionate about something we fight to the death (so to speak) about it. You WON'T win. Give up now. Just ask SI!!! ;)

I'm not trying to say Pagan is wrong. Clearly he is right, but I had just commented early on this thread that I have been told from early years that Muscles are affected by caffeinated sodas. Anyway, the following isn't to prove I'm right, but to give back up to what I said. Now hopefully all will be fine and we can move on from all of this.

Psychological effects of caffeine. Caffeine is a potent drug. Its effects the nervous system ... tinnitus, flashes of light, quivering muscles, tachycardia, extrasystoles ...See the following link:

Sanford Bolton, Ph.D. and Gary Null, M.S. (http://www.garynull.com/Documents/CaffeineEffects.htm)

Carry on and enjoy your caffeine. I know, sometimes I need it. Chocolate baby...Smiles.

Sometimes, yes. But when you notice that the article I quoted was from about two months ago, and the article she posted was from 1981, things get put into a little better perspective.

If I quoted articles from 1933, I could tell you that smoking is good for you! ;)

If you read the entire article, that quack also says "The intake of caffeine (coffee, etc.) has been correlated with the degree of mental illness in psychiatric patients." Uh huh....coffee makes you nuts!

Also look at the references of that article. Almost every one is from the 60's and 70's. A little dated, no?

You might want to read these articles from 1997 & 2004. ;)

As I thought... Pepsi with a little spice that makes up egg nog. First taste was surprising... after that you have to really concentrate on wanting to taste the spice in order to distinguish it.
If Pepsi with egg nog spice in it appeals to you, then by all means by one. If not, don't waste your money on it; you're not missing out on much.
This is a limited edition product- I'd be surprised if it actually came out in 2 liter bottles.

Gentlemen,

I guess Albertson's does not have the best soda selection.
I guess it's no longer the store that goes out of their way for you since teaming up with Osco.
I guess they've eliminated soda shelf space for those 2 liters and cans in order to make room for both Osco and Albertson's generic brand name products. Which company gets the majority of that profit if the merge should end LOL?
