one of my favourite artists from the 80's was Canadian superstar Kim Mitchell :thumb:

From 1976-1980, Kim Mitchell released 6 albums with his band Max Webster, the most successful of which was the platinum selling 1979 release A Million Vacations which featured two hits with Check and Paradise Skies, both of which made the Canadian top 20 in 1980

His self-titled debut album (which was more or less an EP) was released in 1980,

but it was the 1984 follow-up album Akimbo Alogo that put him on the map. The single Go For Soda (http://www.kimmitchell.ca/img/albums/goforsoda.mp3) became his first and only taste of American success on the singles chart, but along with a second single called All We Are, both became top 40 hits in Canada, propelling the album to platinum success in Canada

His third album Shakin' Like A Human Being was released in 1986, and featuring the smash hits Easy to Tame and Patio Lanterns (http://www.kimmitchell.ca/img/albums/patio.mp3), it eventually went Triple Platinum :thumb:

Featuring the hits Rocklandwonderland and Rock and Roll Duty (http://www.kimmitchell.ca/img/albums/rrduty.mp3), his 4th album Rockland which was released in 1989, became a double platinum success

Following the live album I Am A Wild Party in 1990,

Kim released the album Aural Fixations in 1992 that went gold on the strength of the catchy hit America

a 7th album called Itch appeared in 1994 to little notice, but his 1995 Greatest Hits album went platinum. a 9th album Kimosabe followed in 1999

I have the greatest hits collection, plus the one with "Go for soda" on it. "Go for soda" is a gem of a song that is often overlooked.

I saw Max Webster twice, once they were backup for Rush , must hve been 80or 81 and the other time they headlined. The Metro Centre seats 10,000, they probably sold 1500 tickets. Tehy asked everyone to come down front while they put on a great show

They must have been wild on stage. I remember they were a pretty odd bunch. Did Kim Mitchell wear that OPP hat back in those days?
