I heard it last week. It's a pretty good tune :thumb:
But then again, there's no such thing as a bad U2 song :)
Been listening to their recent dance remix hit 'Take Me to the Clouds Above' for the last month now. It's so addictive

Well, I tried listening to it objectively. I pretended that I didn't know it was U2 and tried to listen to it saying if this was a new group and I am hearing it for the first time would I like it? I gotta say it was just okay. U2's talent vocaly, musicianship wise are the only things that are making it just okay.Lyrically it is lacking and had this been performed by a group that doesn't posess the vocal ability and/or musicianship that U2 does it would in my opinion be pretty unlistenable! While there are still elements of the "U2 sound" they are progressively moving farther away from it. Yes, they are adding more of "today's sound" to their music and while financially it may prove to be a smart move I don't believe it is necessarily a good thing from their long time fans point of view? Most diehard fans will say "They don't make bad songs" but as with ANY artist/group if your truly honest with yourself, there are always a few songs, even with your absolute favorites that just don't cut it. Sure this and other tunes from the new release may "grow on you" but what you must ask yourself is "Am I SO devoted as a fan that I am forcing the "growth factor?" In other words "Am I MAKING myself like it just becuse it's them? This must be asked of ANY new release by ANY older established group/artist. Do ANY of these songs have what it takes to become future classics ? To stand the test of time? Or will they fall by the wayside, forgotten in a year or less? Unfortunately, I have to say for this particular song it will be the latter.

Well,I have to disagree on that one...Everytime I hear the first notes of "I Still haven't found what I am looking for" I don't know how quick to change the channel...

great thoughts... i'm reading whilst waitin for the d/l. before listening to it (it just finished), i will say that the sentiment you convey is exactly how i felt about 'the fly' when i heard it as a pre-release single. exactly how i felt about 'pride' as a pre-release single. and about 75% of what i felt for 'beautiful day'.
ok, i'll post again in a couple of mins, after listening.
(after listening): as with so many of their songs, time tells. of the dozens of U2 tunes that are in favored status.... maybe only 3 or 4 did i lock right into from the 1st listen. and certainly, there are others (mostly from pre 85) that i kind of went reverse on.
