One of my favourite 80's songs has been a 1984 song called Half A Boy and Half A Man by a british singer by the name of Nick Lowe

He was a rockabilly artist who had all of his MAJOR success in the 70's, as a member of the band Brinsley Schwarz and as a solo artist, most notably with the 1979 song Cruel to Be Kind, which became his only U.S. top 40 hit

But in the 80's, he did put out some excellent work including the WONDERFUL 1984 album Nick Lowe and His Cowboy Outfit

In the 70's, he was also a member of British singer Dave Edmunds touring band Rockpile to which they finally released a song in 1980 called Teacher Teacher which became a minor U.S. hit and a top 20 hit in http://www.webfitz.com/lyrics/canFlag.gif Canada.

The 1980 Rockpile album Seconds of Pleasure was a great release that featured original Edmunds/Lowe songs as well as a short collection of WONDERFUL Everly Brothers covers

In 1982, he also had a popular hit here in http://www.webfitz.com/lyrics/canFlag.gif Canada called Stick it Where the Sun Don't Shine

Throughout the 80's, he also found time to collaborate with many well known artists including Huey Lewis, John Hiatt, Paul Carrack and Elvis Costello

Nick Lowe did a lot of stuff on Stiff records, almost a house producer, for them. Certainly he worked with Elivis Costello in the early 80s as a producer. He was associated with the Pub Rock scene (Ian Dury, Dr Feelgood, Eddie and the Hotrods etc)

His big hit was Breaking Glass

Last heard was the rather wonderful early to mid 90s LP, Party of One

The minor hit being 'All men are Liars'
Included the fabulous Lyric

"do you remeber rick astley
he had a big fat hit
It was ghastly" :thumb:

Ian Dury. Now there was an odd artist. His song 'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick' was a weird song, but pretty cool :thumb:

The "Cruel to be Kind" video showed the marriage to his real life wife, Carlene Carter. One of the famous Carter family, she had a few hits of her own in the country music area. Not sure when they divorced. She was the girlfriend of Howie Epstein, think the name is right, who was Tom Petty's bass player that recently OD'd. She was arrested for drug posession numerous times and was remanded to the custody of her daughter.

I didn't know he was married to Carlene Carter? I really liked her song 'I Couldn't Say No'
