I have been getting so frustrated with that piece of shit program! Broken songs, hissing & slow downloads.

I highly recommend Limewire. It's incredibly fast, much better quality mp3's & I am finding EVERYTHING I've been searching for. :thumb: It RAWKS.

BearShare ain't bad either.

Except it might load Spyware on your 'puter but you are more than likely used to that with Kazaa already.

Thanks for the tip PG :thumb: I'm sure it will come in REALLY handy over the next few weeks - I'm starting up a new 80s collection (the last one fried :dammit: ) where by hard disc decided to take revenge on me :bigcry:

I've heard great things about bearshare as well.

I have Kazaa Lite (the old version) so I never had to worry about Spyware thank goodness.

Yeah, I noticed Kazaa Lite is pretty crappy these days. :irked: Didn't have much success with LimeWire either. Maybe I'll check out BearShare and WinMX. :)

Messed up songs are a problem on all p2p networks. I dl'ed 99 Ways to die twice yesterday from to different progs. The first one had a skip in it 3 quarters the way through. The second sounded like it was underwater :grrr: :dammit: If your going to make a mp3 do it right with EAC and Lame :)

I've been using e-mule and it's great for full albums, singles, videos, whatever... It takes a little longer, but if you have a broadband connection or an always one modem connection there's a lot to choose from and no fake mp3s.

This is what I use solely now. I had Kazaa Lite for a while and finally dumped it as I was getting frustrated with the BS files and it seemed to slow down my PC. I've never had a corrupt file on WinMX and I've been able to find a lot of songs and remixes I've been searching for for years. :thumb:

WinMX has always been good for me...even on dial up, bleh. Which thank goodness should be replaced by cable by next week...so I am told..

If you've never had broadband before, you'll notice a HUGE difference in speed. And you'll NEVER go back to dialup. You're gonna love it!!

Just a reminder... it's ok to talk about file sharing, but linking to the sites/programs pose possible legal problems for the site (we've had an issue with this in the past).

No harm done this time, just lettin ya know why the links are gone from the thread :)

I mentioned back in early july my frustrations with Kazaa lite and moved to Limewire and am very happy. I never liked Win MX as i can't download most files files. I've tried to use DC + but am too stupid to figure it out

I agree with DJ Midas, i only use WinMX, had no problems whatsoever and it doesn't install spyware or adware.

For some reason, WinMX doesn't work on my system I guess, because everytime I go to download something it's either REALLY slow, or it crashes my Internet connection

Cal~ i do remember you mentioning Limewire, but I wasn't sure what thread that was in.

i don't think this is a kazaa-specific, or limewire-specific issue. what i *do* think happens, is that crapp'd/corrupted versions are intentionally propogated all throughout the peer network.

(again, i think) the reason is to thwart succesful free downloading. as the % of undesirable versions of a song/movie increase, you're less likely to find a "good" version in your searches. over the course of time, more copies of the crapp'd version move to more peer machines, and it only gets worse.

when zeppelin's 'how the west was won' was released, i was eager to get a taste, and scoured immediately. as the hours went on, on release day, you could watch the various versions moving their way around. i renamed 1 or 2 files to something conspicuous, then watched as someone dl'd off of me (with its new name), and hours later, the conspicuously named file is showing up in more/different search's. during these 1st hours, there were some good, usable, non-corrupted versions of mp3 files..... and there were DEFINITELY CRAP versions out there.

i theorize, that in order to protect the interests of whomever stands to profit from retail sales, crap versions are spread, like viruses, on p2p networks, to reduce the possibility that a consumer will find a satisfactory version, for free.

kazaa and limewire (the lite/free versions) aren't difficult to subvert with this method. the technology is easy to learn and easy to exploit. in general, i'd say... wherever there's a will, there's a way... and wherever there's a buck to be made, the guy making the bucks is concerned if the $$$ flow stops. it's just a matter of time before this cat/mouse works its way elsewhere.

again, i don't think it's kazaa or limewire that sucks (they are tremendous, in fact... you can get/have so much, for free)... but, someone else has ruined it (intentionally) by saturating the landscape w/ baloney.

I thought it was just me. It takes forever to DL songs off kazaa. And videos..even longer! ( i have cable internet to) I will check out the other file sharers.

Luckily,I got some AWESOME videos and live concert clips from Kazaa:)
