CELE-BRIDES: Nicky Gives Déjà vu All Over Again
Can anyone fail to get a sense of déjà vu from Nicky Hilton’s Las Vegas surprise wedding? She wed Todd Andrew Meister in the middle of the night (2:30 a.m.) Sunday after partying at the Palms Casino Resort. Resort owner George Maloof confirmed the ceremony had taken place and said the couple gave no indication of their plans.
On January 4, Britney Spears wed Jason Allen Alexander at about 5:30 a.m. after partying at the Palms Casino Hotel. George Maloof – yep, him again -- confirmed the ceremony had taken place, and added, “Nobody knew it was coming.”
Hm. Of all the gin joints in the world…Why do you suppose both these glamour girls chose the same rite at the same site in the middle of the night? Does Maloof have a special celebrity wedding cocktail?
There was a slight difference: Nicky became Mrs. Meister at the Las Vegas Wedding Chapel, while Britney became a short-term bride at the Little White Wedding Chapel.
Okay, seriously, there are other differences. Nicky’s been with Todd for awhile. In fact, it was widely stated that she broke up with ex-MTV personality Brian McFayden in March, 2003, in favor of Meister, a New York money manager (also described as a New York scenester and socialite, how perfect).
Then she was linked to L.A. club promoter Hartwell – but obviously, that didn’t stick. A couple of weeks ago, Nicky and Todd and Paris and lawyer Mike Heller were reportedly seen out at the Hamptons’ Jet East, enjoying themselves until someone tried to photograph Paris (she was then still showing those widely-discussed bruises) on a cell phone and she stormed out with the others.
At least it sounds like Nicky and Todd have a lot more in common than did Britney and her childhood friend, Jason -- or Brit and her current fiance, Kevin Federline, for that matter.
