So the search for your favorite 80s artist or song came up empty?
http://80sairwaves.com/request.php

While we are closing in on 6,500 songs in our library, we realize there are many albums and songs we still need to add. Use this thread to let us know what you searched for but didn't find. We still have well over a thousand albums and 45s that can be encoded for on-air use. Posts here will help us prioritize what needs to be added first.

We look forward to seeing what we're missing!

Hi :)

I listen most everyday and love it. Sure wish I had 80's Airwaves in the car!
Wow, I was looking around and saw that y'all have clips from KZEW Dallas. Man I miss that station, all the decent stations here disappeared *sniff, sniff*

I either spelled it wrong or there is no Queensryche, can y'all can get Operation Mindcrime, please o please?

Also:
Fat Boys
Anthrax
Voice of the Beehive
Metallica (or are they being dweebs and not letting y'all play them?)
and Jeffrey Osbornes On the Wings of Love. OMG, I used to sing my heart out to that song when I was like 11!

It's got to be a huge project running this outta your house- Thank You! Yall are doing a great job :)

Voice of the Beehive Monsters & Angels

What a great song!

8-13-04, 01:35 PM
Hi RHCPapa, yeah, they were fun!

I grew up in small town TX; a friend lived in a home for children and kind people donated stuff to them and through that she wound up w a copy of VotB's Let it Bee and I remember the first time we all heard it and screamed in unison "You gotta tape it for me!"

(I'm new here, nice to meet ya)

redhotchilipapa
8-13-04, 01:39 PM
That song got a lot of airplay on KJQ in Salt Lake City in 91 and it never hit the billboard charts as far as I know.

Oh yeah, and good to meet ya'!

You have a pretty good selection of songs there...some that I wouldn't mind seeing added are:

Pat Benetar, Rated X
Nitzer Ebb - Join in the Chant and Murderous
Duran Duran - Wild Boys
Hanoi Rocks - Up Around the Bend
When in Rome - The Promise
Icicle Works - Birds Fly (Whisper to a Scream)
Gred Kihn Band - The BreakUp Song
Barry Manilow - Copacabana (yes, I am serious)
Platinum Blonde (anything)
New Kids on the Block (again, anything, and again, I am serious)
More selection from Motley Crue
More things that were on the cusp (quite a few Hair Bands made it just on the edge of the 80's)

80sAirwaves
8-27-04, 07:42 AM
Wow - Platinum Blonde, I had forgotten about them! I might still have a cassette or an album.

The others are all very valid and we appreciate these suggestions. Altough, I wouldn't hold my breath on either Barry or NKOTB!

Remeber 80s Airwaves is about the music that we listened to during our high school and college years during the 80s. I can't say I knew of anyone listening to either of those during that time period. But we'll see...

=)

Fair enough about Manilow and NKOTB! Copa always gets me dancing though...and the only reason I thought of NKOTB was from that commercial you played.

Anyhow, those were just suggestions, I really would like to see Join in the Chant added, I was quite disapointed when I searched for Nitzer Ebb and it wasn't there :(

What about going a bit away from the usual and (still) overplayed Hits and put some more Underground Music, or B-Sides of old Singles, underrated Albumtracks ?

I miss the huge palette of british Postpunk bands as well as a lot of more minimalistic Synthwave.

I was thinking that you could add some 80s club music and if youre looking for reference please see the Dance music column on the forums especially anything that is refered to as 6400 music(a club that used to exsist in Houston). It seems this subject and music is constantly refered to here on dance forum-and I would love to be able to turn on your station and either hear some of this material and be able to request it.

Just a few artist/track to start with:

Peter Schilling: A Different Story( A World of Lust and Crime)
C.C.C.P: American/Soviets
Cetu Javu: Have In Mind
Vouyou: Houseman/Germany Calling
Sparks: Music That You Can Dance To
Nitzer Ebb: Join In The Chant
Gene Loves Jezabel: Desire (Come and Get It)
The Cult: She Sells Sanctuary and Rain 12" Mixes of both
Front 242: HeadHunter and Welcome to Paradise
Sinead O Connor: (I Want Your Hands) On Me 12" Mix
Vicious Pink: Take Me Now
The Bolshoi: Away

This is just a few for starters.
If you cant readily find this material I can provide you with some.

Great station ,keep it up! Definately makes my day at work go by that much faster.

Thanks

V
