nolanbuc 7-31-04, 08:06 PM In a 4 team, 11th hour, blockbuster trade! Not the shortstop I was hoping for, but I'll take a player like Nomar anyday!

"I can't really picture him playing anywhere else," New York Yankees star Derek Jeter said of Garciaparra. "You think Red Sox, Nomar's the first name you think of." :bigcry: :bigcry:
Imagine his joy, going from the second worst team, luck wise, the WORST team, luck wise.
I still dont understand why everybody was so eager to see him go.
Hey, Boston, we got TWO All Star Short Stops. We got so many, we let one play third! LOL! Need somebody to turn a double play? What you got for trade bait? LOL!
Yankees rule! Just thought I would let you all know! LOL!

Caligula 8-01-04, 09:05 AM Orlando Cabrera is not a bad shortshop, he doesn't get much recognition playing in Montreal, and is having a bad season this year, but he's won a gold glove, while he has some pop in his bat, hit 17 hrs 95 rbi's (in homerun unfriendly Big O) a couple years ago, as well as he can steal 25 bases a year. In addition the Sox got Doug M... it my not be as bad as it looks for the SOX
The last 2 Expos's who have gone to the american League are doing well, Vladamir G and Vasquez (leads Yankee's in wins and strikouts)
nolanbuc 8-01-04, 01:28 PM I agree, Cal. Boston did not come out bad at all. Nomar had bad blood with the Sox organization, and he was gone after this year. With the addition of Doug M. and O. Cabrerra, the Red Sox upgrade their infield defense alot.
The Cubs have added thunder to their already potent lineup, maybe Nomar will wake up the sleeping lumber in the Cubs offense. The Cubs already have great pitching, which is some thing the Yankees don't have (sorry Jasper) :p
The Expos shed salary as usual, the only head-scratcher in this deal was the Twins, not sure what they added to their team and they are in 1st in the AL central.
