Sal, would it be too much trouble to add the mark forum read option on this board? Just wondering http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

Actually, you're really not supposed to need it. That's a thing ezboard uses to get around the problem. But UBB actually has it right. It goes by cookies on your computer. You don't even need to refresh actually. It's automatic. It works on my end. If anybody is having problems, let me know. I'll ask why if that's the case. But you should see the differences in the icons for new messages and old messages..

I'm almost positive that if you refresh, it resets and says "Okay, this stuff isn't new anymore". So don't refresh. Try that and lemme know what happens.

Ok, Sal this is how it's working for me. After reading all the topics in one forum weather I use the back button or exit using the folder icon at the top of the screen the light bulb stays lit, unless I keep track of who posted last or keep count of the posts I have to refresh to see the new ones, is this the way it works? Or am I just an idiot http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Don't answer that http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I'm glad I'm not the only one having this problem, sorry Notman, but now I know It's not my computer.

Could it have somthing to do with the browser?

I think the lightbulb stays lit until you actually leave. Once you leave it should reset the next time you log on. Your cookies will tell the computer what you've read, etc.

Actually, I just checked this theory on another site. When you're logged in, all the light bulbs stay lit. Once you leave, everything resets. If you come right back, you'll see that the last forum you left a message in will be LIT, as well as any other forum where someone might have posted as you were leaving or after...

It'll take a little getting used to...

Maybe it's not as good as ezboard. I suppose you can't keep track as easily because if you don't get to read ALL messages, you wont know what's new according to the light bulbs. Same goes for the folders. Yeah, it'll be a bit to get used too...

I just thought of an easy way to explain it.. Maybe a little primative, but... UBB 'new messages' are messages that have been written after you've been gone. It's not really new messages for YOU, but new messages for the BOARD since you last left...

A bit primative, but... I just got done asking about this with the UBB hacker pros.. Let's see if anyone wants to take up this challenge...
