I was watching 20/20 the other night and they started talking about taxes. Senator Edward Kennedy's son is running for some sort of office and one of his campaign promises is to offer huge tax breaks to wealthy people who buy luxury yachts in the United States. So a few potential buyers were asked how they felt about this one of them replied well its about time she's been supporting the poor and not getting anything from it! there was another similar response from someone else... When I heard this I got so mad, well you don't want to know what I said it wasn't very nice... Those Kennedy's really pi** me off!!!

I must disagree. What was said, I'm sure, was that they would reduce or eliminate the *luxury* tax. There is a tax that equals as much as 30% for boats over a certain size. There are luxury taxes as well as gas guzzler taxes on cars as well.

Many yachts are not available for sale or charter by US residents or in the US at all because of the grossly overbearing taxes levied upon them.

You would not believe the taxes that are paid by the wealthy. It's obscene. They work as hard or harder for their money most of the time and in return get to pay half or more in taxes used to support those that don't even pay taxes. Don't *even* get me started on the socialist bent of our federal monarchy.

And no, I don't make a lot of money and I don't have a lot of money. I just happen to know and have known those that do and the amount the government steals from them to fund the latest socialist pet projects is ridiculous.

Vote Libertarian. It's time for a tea party.

[edited portion] And no, I don't like the Kennedy family. They're as close to Socialist as they get in their leftward tilt. [/edited portion]

Well, I don't wanna get any Democratic, Republican, Liberal wars going on here. So let's not get involved in one! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/tongue.gif But I do understand what you're saying. I have a few friends who make 7 figures in a year and they lose about half of it.. Taxes suck for all of us - period!

I hope what they are talking about is the Luxury taxes for the yachts. That's probably all it is.. Otherwise, yeah cars have a luxury tax too. Anything over $35,000 I believe. Gas guzzlers tax, etc.. The government makes out WAY to well. That's the whole problem either way...

ah, the luxury tax...ok, I'll just leave this one alone. I have my own little thing against the mega rich...many of them have all this wealth and they STILL want more and more and then they have the nerve to be cheap with it....eesh...anyway, don't mean to offend anyone...just don't care much for the way civilization is run. I'll leave it at that.

It's funny how you lose the whole screen when you get kicked off. When I get kicked off I still have the whole screen. If it's a long post I always copy it just in case.

Yeah, that stupid AOL! That's right, it closes. Well, what you COULD do is use Internet Explorer OUTSIDE of AOL. Just LOWER AOL down and re-open Internet Explorer from the Start menu... That would stay opened if AOL closed down. But if you use the Browser that comes with AOL (just like Internet Explorer) it will close down with the program...
