I don't know if any of you've heard about this yet, but I heard on the news about some new e-mail virus (not a hoax) with the subject line of "I Love You" that wipes out your entire system. People using Outlook and Outlook Express are the ones getting hit the most.

Yes, this is true. A very bad virus! Here is the info:

DESCRIPTION
VBS/LoveLetter.worm arrives via email message with the
subject line "ILOVEYOU". The text reads "kindly check the
attached LOVELETTER coming from me.", and the worm is included
in the attachment, called "LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.TXT.vbs".
This worm attempts to send copies of itself through
mIRC to the IRC channels and through Outlook to all address
book entries.

VBS/LoveLetter.worm also attempts to download and install an
executable file called WIN-BUGSFIX.EXE, a password stealing
program that will email any cached passwords it finds to the
mail address MAILME@SUPER.NET.PH.

Oh, don't worry about it. All you need to do is AVOID opening the File Attachment. Just delete the message and then empty the trash (in your email program).

Here is a virus update:

> Hello.
>
> It has been brought to the attention of MIS that there are variants of the
> Lovebug virus that created trouble yesterday (May 6.) It's a good idea to
> delete any e-mail messages with the following descriptions.
>
> If you get a message with the subject:
>
> fwd: Joke
>
> and it has an attachment:
>
> Very Funny.vbs
>
> You should delete it.
>
> There is also a new strain of Lovebug called the "Mother's Day Order
> Confirmation" with the following attributes:
>
> Subject: Mothers Day Order Confirmation
> Body: We have proceeded to charge your credit card for the
> amount of $326.92 for the mothers day diamond special.
> We have attached a detailed invoice to this email.
> Please print out the attachment and keep it in a safe
> place. Thanks Again and Have a Happy Mothers Day!
> mothersday@subdimension.com
> Attachment: mothersday.vbs
>
> There is no charge made to anyone's credit card...it's a fraud designed to
> entice someone into opening up the attachment to see what's going on.
>
> You should delete any e-mails such as these to avoid being infected.
> Further, you should always be wary of e-mail attachments that look out of
> place. For example, if you received Lovebug and it's coming from someone
you
> barely know (or don't know at all) you should be suspicious. Also, if it
> would be "out of character" for someone to send you Lovebug you should
also
> be suspicious. Actually, you should be suspicious of opening anything that
> seems weird...

Oh, it's just the attachment? I was figuring it to be one of those that infects the second you open the message.
