We need a country forum... I'm ready to talk some Juice Newton (http://www.juicenewton.com/)! :D

I don't think a country forum would work here. Not enough people like it. (I LOVE it) Juice Newton had enough pop hits that you could talk about her under top 40. I really like a da juice (Obscere wrestling reference to Juventud Guerrero (sp?)).

Yup...got that spelling straight...da juice...LOL :p

Yeah, I don't think there's too many into 80's country music. How's this for a basis...if there's at least 15 members who would like to actively take part in an 80's country music forum, then we should consider adding it...

We have loads of forums as it is, so we gotta be kinda picky when considering adding more ;)

So is this supposed to be everything 80's or just certain things about the 80's?
I mean no offense, but first my jazz forum gets turned down, and now the country.
What's next? If I ask for a 80's Japanese music forum, would that get turned down as well?

Okay Tina, we'll keep it in the metal forum (http://www.80sxchange.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=10).
:) ;) :D :) ;)

Any added forum should be associated with the 80's to a higher degree than not...this is afterall an 80's forum...although some seem to forget that sometimes... :p And to warrant adding another area to this already large community, there has to be a lot of interest in the topic to keep the forum area alive and buzzing...

I don't like country either, but I would want to be fair to everyone. Maybe we should vote on it.

Country music was so "un-popular" in the 80s.. sure, in the late 90s.. it started picking up a fan base.. . but it has absolutly NOTHING to do with the 80s, in my opinion.. sorry Steve.. but we try to make topics that people will participate in and not have "crickets" chirping in... the country Forum would last all of 5 minutes with this group! THANK GOD! er.. I mean THANK SAL!

I tend to disagree with you Tina, there was many crossover hits in the 80's that were country but not enough people here are familiar with it therefore there wouldn't be much activity in the forum.

One other thing, I offered you to use the R&B forum to talk about jazz.

The only people that I knew that listened to country were my Mom and Dad... (pretty sad)

If a country album has an 80's copyright date then it does have something to do with the 80's my friend. :)

Thank you for being fair. :)

Yes, and the other music forums I mentioned above. ;)
Maybe we need a forum titled, "All other music Steve Savicki suggested"! :D

Thanks, but R&B is not the same as jazz.
Jazz is its own music, played on its own type of radio station and is on labels such as these. (http://www.vervemusicgroup.com/grp/)
Sorry, but my dad raised me to really appreciate jazz and thus I take its categorizing seriously (as you can see from the number of posts in this thread! :D)

Urban Cowboy came out in the 80s and it was the biggest thing to happen to country music until the Garth Brooks explosion in the 90s. I HATED country music in the 80s too. My parents listened to it as well. In the 90s I grew to like a lot of different types of music including country. I would participate in a country music forum but I also don't hesitate to mention it in other forums. I think Steve, DjDaffy, maybe Valj and me would be the only ones to participate. :p

I for one, would like to see a Country group. How could it NOT be part of the 80's? The 80's saw the rise of such country superstars as Reba McEntire, Randy Travis, The Judds (Wynonna), George Straight, Lorrie Morgan, and countless others. For some people country music IS their way of life, it may be all they've been subjected to while they were younger, or care to listen to. It has it purpose and place in the 80's and I listened to it, being from Texas and all. There, I've said my peace and I hope I did not offend anyone, it was not intended.

True.. Urban Cowboy was pretty big in the 80s.. (I looooved that movie!) it also had plenty of top 40 NON-COUNTRY songs in the soundtrack as well, though...

Yikes! There are more of you than I thought! Perhaps we need to start a poll!

If enough people would be interested... maybe a forum is in order!

Sal or Roem... could you figure out where you would like to advertise this and start a poll?

I don't know, the only kind of country I ever liked was bluegrass ( no really ! ) ;)
but I don't know, as I dislike keyboards in metal, I don't like electric guitar in country music, it just kills the effect !.
Urban Cowboy sucks, either ya're a cow boy or not, but I'm not one, doesn't bother me, seen some, they're cool. I'll leave it at that !

I got into country music in the very late 80s early 90s. I would not be opposed to a forum and might even post in one. :D

Ok, I'll check with Sal and see if this forum addition could be a possibility pending a majority poll vote

I don't care either way as long as there is enough interest. There are some songs I liked that crossed over.

we know Jazz is a different genre than R&B Steve. DJ was trying to offer you some space to share until enough interest was generated.

This board is all 80s but if the forum isn't going to fly its a waste of space.

Try a few more smileys in your comments if you are indeed trying to be funny because your tone has been totally pissing me off lately. Maybe you don't mean to offend, but man you do push it.

I'm all FOR a Jazz forum AND a Country forum. The only problem is, like Roemello said, we've got a lot of forums and it is definitely overwhelming to new users. It probably scares many people from signing up.

But. If it has to do with the 80's, I'm all for it. We just need to make sure it will get action. I don't like seeing forums with very little or no activity in them...

There is a place for anything and everything 80's here - we just want to make sure people will make use of the extra rooms...

I have a suggestion. I want to start a music forum for red haired performers only. Any style, any genre; as long as they have red hair (natural or colored, it don't matter).

Roemello
12-05-01, 12:24 AM
LOL! Sure Red...while I'm at it, how about one for artists born in March, came out with a hit in July, are 5'9", have blue eyes and single with no tatoos....LOL

*yes, I got the sarcasm and humor...just adding ;)*
