A forum for debating issues of the past and present would be good! Anything controversial or that would normally be moved to Area 51 could go here.

Dont know if i could moderate it on my own though, Ive been running up quite a phone bill lately!

Hamish. I wish you and Mudkicker would have visited my other site, www.masterdebating.com (http://www.masterdebating.com) - it was funny, fun and cool. Maybe I'll have to start it again just for you guys. I bet you two would make it work... It went a little something like this:

Masterdebation (mass·ter·de·bay·shun) - The process of controlling an argument while discussing opposing points.

Welcome to masterdebating.com,

Masterdebating.com is the place where people bring their disputes for resolution. What we do here is create new, and reply to existing debates about current issues, past issues, or anything that you feel is important to debate about. If you're having a debate, master debate it! Bring it here to masterdebating.com! We have master debaters ready to argue for your point (or in some cases, against it!). Choose your debate carefully! The climax of masterdebation is in your hands!

Are you a master debater? I know I am. I grew up in an environment where people argued constantly. Even now as an adult, I live in an atmosphere where people argue for the sport of it. People love to win, and as long as this remains true, there will always be debate. As long as you feel you're right and someone else is wrong, you will have the desire to be a master debater.

Have you been master debating? Yes? Great! You'll fit right in with our online community. No? Well then maybe it's time you get started. There's no time like the present to start master debating! Come on! Everybody does it! It's nothing to be ashamed of! And now, you can be open about your master debating from work, home, school, on the bus - wherever you have an internet connection. You can master debate with people from everywhere on the globe. People from all walks of life will be here to master debate with you in no time. Have you ever master debated over the phone? Soon we'll be WAP compatible! So your internet connected cell phone or PDA (personal digital assistant) will be master debatable!

If it seems a little slow at first, it's because we've just begun master debating. I think this is a fairly new and original concept - you'll understand once things get going. It's never been this easy to master debate! Our message forum is State of the Art! This website is still in beta form (master beta, if you will) so we'll have something more appealing for you in the coming days...

Plus! Stay tuned for group master debation and master debate teams!

Would you like to sign up to master debate with us? Debate signup!

Or would you just like to watch other people master debate? Debate watch...

Would anyone be interested in doing this? I'm sooo passive, that I couldn't. But, I'm sure there's someone out there that would love to debate.

Nah, debating is good if you can do it without being offensive http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif It could be a good idea, but it's one forum that would have to be watched and regulated very closely....we know how these things can get out of hand http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//tongue.gif

Have to agree. Debate's are alright, but they can quickly deteriorate into nastiness, People start slinging things like:

Get a life!!!
You suck (or a derivative thereof)...
That's ignorant!

I try to avoid confrontations like that. This is my HAPPY place! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

That's pretty good, Morningmyst. Kind of reminds me of the scene from Cheech and Chong "Up in Smoke".

Chong to Cheech - "Mello... Mello... Mello... - RARRGH!!!" Hehe. Thought Cheech was going to crap himself. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//eek2.gif

Ahh, the Cheech and Chong movies! Such classics!
As for the debate, the mudslinging could easily get out of hand. Personally, I'd rather leave that to those "other" message boards.

I second that, Tinajo. While it could server a purpose - I'd rather live without it. I'll start another website like masterdebating.com if I have to. But not here. This is too much of a happy place. I don't want anyone to ever get angry at eachother. In this life, it's so easy to disagree, and it's only natural to develop hard feelings when that happens. It takes a lot of discipline in order NOT to - and not everyone has time to develop that much discipline. There's nothing wrong with that, either - time is hard to come by.
