Well, this might not be appreciated by everyone (stop making that throwing-up noises, PJ and NotMan! ), but it would be nice to find an own topic board about Synthpop (Wavepop, Gothic) of today here.

Bands like DE/Vision, Wolfsheim, Mesh...they had (and still do) holding the torch to a style which was forgotten at the beginning of the 90s. And they had a great deal to do that the "youngsters" are rediscovering this music again...
I know that the general theme of this board are the 80s, but music didn´t stopped in 1990.

For those who didn´t know it by now...Synthpop is the (musically spoken) love of my life, and I´m always in for discovering new artists of that genre.
If there are any other Synthpop nutters out there...

I don't have a problem with your taste in music wavemaster that is what makes everybody different. I may like a different type of music than you, but that doesn't mean my type is better than yours.

Yeah Not Man, I would have been deceived mighty by myself if you were the kind of person who would judge someone on his/her personal taste of music...

AFAIK, you´re damn okay, Not Man...

A Synthpop of today section would be great. (good idea wavemaster!)

Like wavemaster, i'm totally obsessed with synthpop. this could be a good place where we could talk about new synthpop, concerts, the latest synthpop bands we've gotten into lately, etc, etc. it'd also be a good place for people to find out about these bands.

just my 2 cents. but, i'm a newbie, so i suppose my 2 cents don't really count that much.

i hate being new! *pout*

Thanks Shakey. I belong to another message board, but never post any more because my/your opinion was always wrong. I remember one time things got so out of hand at that board that a major flame war erupted and names were called, very viscious and vulgar names, to whoever voiced there opinion. The Admins and Mods just stood by and did nothing! Many long time memebers including myself left and never returned. I still go there to read, but I haven't posted in well over a year.

So when I say everyone's opinion is treated with respect here I mean it. My opinion isn't always right and neither is yours and I am not going to use abusive language towards you or anyone. I may jokingly say something, but never take it serious.

Okay, okay, since I have been asked...

There´s a lot of good synthpop out there these days, with reverences to the 80s but not sounding dated.

The "underground" features a lot of artists now, and with each month, the number of new releases grows. Hard to update my collection...this would take a second job, if I would have a regular one...

I absolutely love Apoptygma Berzerk and Beborn Beton. Would Funker Vogt be in this category as well or is it more industrial?

Brilliant subject!!

i do too! i think funker vogt may be a bit harsh for the Synthpop of Today category....so we'll just have to start an industrial thread!

Like xistenza said...they are a bit harsh in their sounds, but why not? You can also check out their side project, Ravenous - it´s a liitle bit more on Synthpop/EBM.
By the way...the home of Funker Vogt is just 20 miles from my hometown...just wanted to mention that.

What´s about Gothic?
I miss comments about artists like the Sisters, Deine Lakaien (not you this time, xis...I bet you love ´em ), Joy Division (okay...not quite Goth but close) and others...where are the Darkies here?

Wolfshiem are finally playing the US. Can't believe it. Has anyone heard if they have any new material??

I heard they're kinda bad live, but I'm still going to go. Can't miss this one.

Neuroticfish are also playing. They're synthpop with a bit of industrial. Pretty good in my eyes.

As far as I know, the tour of Wolfsheim in the USA is accompanying the release of "Spectators" which was released in Germany 1999 (!).
A new album release is planned for the first half of 2002, a new single is due for this fall.

About their concerts...saw them live in the mid of the 90s, and although I like Wolfesheim, I have to say it was kinda bad...Peter Heppner acted on stage like he didn´t mind the people there or being drugged (or both... :D ), he had to read the lyrics from the sheets and often missed his parts.
Other visitors of the Wolfsheim concerts told me the same, but maybe he have improved now.

I will see them next weekend on the M´Era Luna Festival... :)
