For those who dont know, Brides of Destruction is the new group featuring Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue and Tracii Guns from Guns N Roses/LA Guns fame.
This album sounds like a hybrid of the best Motley tunes, with a totally newer sounding vocal style. The playing on the album is top notch, and suprisingly fresh sounding. I was expectng more of an 80s pop rock feel from this group, but to be honest, it is pretty killer. Not METALLICA (when they didnt suck) hard, but definately NOT a pop-metal album to say the least.
Track 1: SHUT THE F**K UP: This song is a killer song about how the media distorts the way things are going on in the world. Vocalist London LeGrande (surely his given name) sounds good, in a John Corabi type way, but even better. This song would be getting a lot of airplay if not for the F word in the chorus.
Track 2: I DONT CARE: Sounds like a old school Scorpions song at the start, and is a totally rocking song. The thing with this song is, if it were softened up a bit, it would sound like any random 80s band's song. But, with the newer, updated sound during most of the song, it sets itself apart from that genre.
Track 3: I GOT A GUN, starts off slower, almost Nirvana-ish (oh the irony). But soon turns into a rocker. The song really isnt my cup of tea, but it isnt BAD.
Track 4: TWO TIMES DEAD. Man, this has a nice Alice in Chains vibe to it, and that isnt a bad thing. Even the vocals and lyrics sounds sorta Layne Staley insipred. I like this one best so far on the album!
Track 5: BRACE YOURSELF. Despite the scratchy record sounding begining, this song turns into a song that could be playing on most modern rock stations today. Sorta repetitive, and not really all that original. My least favorite song on the album so far.
Track 6: NATURAL BORN KILLERS. Another song that could be on Modern Rock Radio. Less METAL sound, more of a Modern Rock/pop song. Not a bad tune, but not GREAT either.
Track 7: LIFE. Sung by the drummer I believe, and its a slow starting song. I notice a LOT of backing vocals in all these songs. This is a more pop sounding song, and I wouldnt be lying if I said it could be on radio today as well.
Track 8: REVOLUTION (not a Beatles cover tune) Wild Sounding to start out. But quickly turns into the WORST song on the album. One of those "I am gonna say a string of words, one after the other songs" Sample lyrics:
Revolution, revolution,
Proceed mission bride injection
operation mass detection
disengage government protection
nation
damnation
world domination
See, sucking all the way! Worst song thus far.
Track 9: ONLY GET SO FAR: Is this that band ALL AMERICAN REJECTS? Sounds like them a lot on this tune. Not bad, sorta slow, almost a ballad, but not quite. Not a bad tune.
SUMMARY: Only TWO songs that suck, a few that are "okay" and the rest are above average and rocking.
I RECOMMEND THIS CD! (now go buy it, so the record companies will realise that there is still a market for ROCK music)
