Not sure where to post this so I'll put it here. I was wondering if anyone knows of any free record price guide websites. I searched on Yahoo and could only find a couple of UK sites. I need a US site because a) Pounds mean nothing to me b) US records are worth more in the UK and vice versa. The Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame contract I am signing needs an estimated value of the records I loaned them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would go to http://www.gemm.com./ and look up some of the LP's I was sending, to get an idea. Then I would email some of the sellers and ask them what they use for prices. Hope this helps. :)

Another advice: ask some insurance companies...I had to ask mine back in 1995 after the break and enter of my apartment. At least in Germany, the insurance companies a refering to a special list for estimating the value of your records (admittedly, they are a) rating the value quite poorly and b) they might not have every record listed).

Daffy, I have a record price guide book that might help you. PM me the info and I can look it up for you. The only bad thing is this book is about 9 years old.

You can actually find a current price guide at your local bookstore. I know when I was looking for a book to price collectibles, there was one with records. Good Luck, Hon.

Having someone appraise the value might be your best bet, but since it's not a free service I'd try that gemm website and the current price guides. If your collection is insured, you may be able to get someone from the insurance co. and estimate the value themselves. I'd think they'd give a low estimate, so I'd up theirs by however much you think they underestimated it.

Thanks for the help. I don't think I'll be asking an insurance company what they are worth since they will really low ball the collection. I like the Gemm idea. The records I have lent them are rare promos and imports which makes it harder to find values. To me they are priceless. I also used my Joel Whitburn Top Pop Book for some prices on 45's. He kinda low ends them as well, like giving "Delirious" with the fold out poster sleeve a value of $10 when I spent $50 on the sleeve alone without the record.
