I'm quite lucky really. We had "Redifusion" when it first came out and my Dad used to record a lot of the songs from "Music Box" & "Powerstation" which (hurray!) I now have my grubby little mitts on! These are a few of the songs that I get all misty eyed to when I see or hear them. I also sing along to them REALLY loudly, much to everyone's annoyance! :D

Big in Japan - ALPHAVILLE
99 Red Balloons - NENA
You Spin me Right Roumd - DEAD OR ALIVE
The Riddle - NIK KERSHAW
When the Rain Begins to Fall - JERMAINE JACKSON & PIA ZADORA
Slow Dancing - LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM
Teardrops - WOMACK & WOMACK
Take on Me - AHA
It's Raining Men - THE WEATHER GIRLS
When Doves Cry - PRINCE
Down Under - MEN AT WORK

Ok, best I stop now, before everyone gets bored! And another thing, doesn't it really annoy you when people take a perfectly good 80's classic, do a cover and spoil it? WHY?

I can't say that I remember that one. It rings a bell though. What do you think of all these covers lately? I mean you've had Geri Halliwell (It's Raining Men), A1 (Take on me) 7 Westlife (Uptown Girl) to name but a few!

Invincible - Pat Benatar ( "The Legend Of Billie Jean" was filmed here in Corpus Christi and I would see the filmcrew all over town.)

Legs - ZZ Top ( I knew girls who dressed exactly like the main girl in the video.)

Walk Like An Egyptian - Bangles ( My friends and I went on a roadtrip and did nothing but listen to this song and did the Egyptian hand gestures.)

That's What Friends Are For - Dionne Warwick
( This was my Graduation song for the class of 1986.)

Everybody - Madonna ( The song that sarted it all!!!)

Well, this will sound weird, but I classify certain songs by what I was involved in when they came out. For example, my girlfriend calls a lot of mid 80's songs "barn songs" because she used to hang out at this barn (stables) with here friends while they listened to the radio. For me, I have "BMX songs" (I use to race in the early 80's), "fireworks songs" (my buddies and I managed to get $500 worth of illegal fireworks sent to us in the mail around '85 or so- I can still smell the gun powder) and "Highschool/ freshman loser with no friends/senior year parties" songs, to name a few classifications. It's very weird, because a few certain songs will trigger very vivid memories that make me REALLY feel like I am there again.

I know what you mean, Jim. I have 'skating rink' songs, and 'Godfather's' songs.
