View Full Version : The Captain Of Her Heart by Double....
Anyone else out there think that this was an *absolute* classic?
Possibly one of my all-time favourite 'One Hit Wonders' of the 80's...
Anyone know what those guys are up to now?
:D
I have no idea. That was a great song!
Stacey may know or Micheal :)
The Swiss duo has their own site: www.doublecity.com (http://www.doublecity.com)
Although they haven't released anything since 1988, they are apparently still doing solo projects. Nice site too! :)

Mee Mee. I loved, and still love that song. The melody, the voice. Ahhh!!

I went to the Ultimate Band List website to do a search for them. I found this site:
Double website link (http://www.maloo.de/disco.html)
The only new information I could find out was that it said they were working on new material and would be releasing it soon. A date hasn't been set yet for the release.
My husband downloaded this song from Napster several months ago. We listen to it often. I love the song, though don't remember it from the 80s. It was new to me. Don't know how I missed that one.
morningmyst 11-15-01, 04:25 AM I heard that song on the radio at work today, and was singing along with it! I kinda liked it too. :)
Interesting feedback guys - and looks like the verdict is in:
Double, we love ya!! :D

I always liked the song "Captain of Her Heart" by Double. From what I recall, one of the members of Double was a founding member of the group Naked Eyes, who had the hits "Always Something There to Remind Me" and "Promises, Promises".
80sTrivia: Official Stalker of DD86 :D
Double consisted of members Felix Haug and Kurt Maloo from Zurich. Their first single was released in 1983, a second single in 1984, followed by their debut album "Blue" released in the USA in 1986. (Kurt had previously recorded solo and as a member of different bands. He even joined Yello around 1979 for their album "Solid Pleasure.") Complete details can be found on the biography section of their website doublecity (http://www.doublecity.com)
The members of Double were not involved with Naked Eyes, which consisted of Rob Fisher and Pete Burns. Pete still records today, he can be found at PJBmusic (http://www.pjbmusic.com) After Naked Eyes, Rob Fisher had a hit with Simon Climie (the top 20 song "Love Changes (Everything)" under the moniker Climie Fisher). Sadly, Rob died in 1999 after a long period of illness.
By the way, the name Double is pronounced "doo-BLAY" (at least according to a sticker that was applied to early copies of the American LP.) Also, the album artwork for the "Blue" album seems to picture 4 members, but it's really just Felix and Kurt appearing as two different people each!
Thanks for the info, SurlyOne! :D
djdaffy1227 11-16-01, 05:11 PM One thing I can add is that their name is pronounced like Doo-Blay not double. There is an accent mark over the e.
wavemaster 11-16-01, 05:40 PM Another addition...this song was used for a German TV and radio ad for Bahlsen, a cookie and bakery manufacturer.
Soon, this song entered the German Single charts, peaking at #10 in the fall of 1985, staying in the Top 20 for 6 weeks.
The following single 'Your Prayer Takes Me Off' which was also featured as the B-side on the German 12" charted only briefly in the lower ranks, same happened to a rerelease of 'The Captain Of Her Heart' by Kurt Maloo in the 90s.
it's kind of a sad song. but i like it.
:)
80s hair 12-03-01, 01:35 AM This is one of my top 5 favorite songs of the 80s!! Thanks so much for talking about it.
Dancingdoll1986 12-03-01, 06:22 PM Don't all jump on me at once, but when that song came out, one of the local stations played it, I SWEAR, twice an hour, every single day. I know this, because the channel was the only one that would come in at the store I worked at. It drove me up a wall and made me want to bash my skull in with wall fixtures. Sometimes, when it would come on, I'd ram my head against the wall.
"No sir, didn't like it" Ren & Stimpy
I'm sure we all have songs like that. Good songs can be totally ruined by too much airplay. Even though I am huuuge Depeche Mode fan, I can't stand Just Can't Get Enough. I got enough (no pun intended).
Always nice to get a different opinion on things, that's what this forum is all about.
So you'd like a Double CD from Santa for Xmas then, Dancingdoll ? ;) :D Hehee!
Then again, there are songs you can play 1,000,000 times and never get tired of - and 'Captain Of Her Heart' falls into that category for me. I played it again tonight, and love it as much as the first time....
Dancingdoll1986 12-03-01, 08:36 PM Please Steve.....you read my mind!!! I'll be waiting with antici..........PAtion!!!! Will you deliver it personally?!?

On post: "The Captain of Her Heart" by Double is a very nice, romantic synth-pop song from the mid-80s, and I enjoy it very much.
