Ok this thread looks like it's just a ''Me, myself & I'' and yeah it is! Sorry! Here's a little story of mine about how I finally found myself in that great decade of the 80s:
1st of all, i'm born in june 1983, so I was young during the 80s but all my memories start there! Ask questions like what is that crap that my sister listen to with her friends (Paula Abdul). And I was a fan of Guns'n'Roses very young. I had all the posters, issues about them without listenning a lot of their songs! Thoses long hairs & look shocked me and I like it. Then, you have the 90s. And the 80s were awesome to one thing, the technology! It was not big boosted computers and games that never end, no at this time it was simple and it was cool that way! I miss that a lot I can't tell you!! I was a huge fan of Ninja Turtles, Duck Tales, Pong, Hit the ballon on a pole (sorry don't know the real name but it was popular here at the end of 80s, you have to hit the ball and she must do 1 turn each time)... I was a huge fan too of my hometown successfull artist like Les B.B., Kashtin, Corey Hart, Richard Séguin, Michel Rivard... also the movie Cruising Bar, that's one of my favorite comedies of all time!!!
Then, in 1993-94 something like that, I go with my friend at his lessons of Ice Skating and yeah, the 80s beat was there!! I like thoses songs a lot... I remember Footloose and The Power of Love!!! Thoses 2 songs stunned me!! And one day... he give me that cassette with a lot of 80s songs also the theme of Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jr.
Also my sister buy the soundtrack of the very cool movie: ''The wedding singer'' only pure 80s in here!! Later, in 1999, I go watch that movie ''Nothing Hill'' and heard the music ''When I see you smile'' by Bad English and become addict of that song, When I found that song I was thinking it was from the 90s!
I can't said it was crap what I was listenning to at the end of 90s, 2000 but I check this again the other day and thank god my tastes change. I found myself in late 2002 slowly with the 80s beat, always listen to some 80s song (specially from movies) but that time I search the big hits from the 80s and wow, awesome songs my god!! In 2003, I dl and buy some 80s CDs. And one day I buy movies at a HMV and found Breakfast Club. I said to myself, what is that movie?? I see this in late 80s but never watch it entirely. At 7-8 years old, it's not a very cool movie for you! ;) But I totally loved it and 2-3 days later search for some decent 80s website and boards if really exist that talk about that great decade. I found 80sXCHANGE!!!!! Awesome place!! And i'm just here since 6 months and that looks like 6 years, oh my god thoses boards kick asses!!! :p
a few minutes ago, my sister told me she work on a publicity (she work design for companies and some big one) for a bar that have thursday 80s... HOLY CRAP that I said in my head, thanks sister!! She make my day like no other time before!!!
So as for now, I will go outside cry: ''ADRIENNE'' and walk like an egyptian!! :D
