A couple of days ago, I received this great video collection called, "Divine Madness". I won it off of eBay, and this is the best video collections I've gotten in a LONG time. Madness is one of those bands you can listen to no matter what mood you're in.
I've been a fan of theirs since the early 80s when I first heard the song, "Our House". My favorite song from them is, "It Must Be Love". I'm so glad I got this collection, because "It Must Be Love" is on it, and I haven't seen this video since I first saw it on Friday Night Videos. That was probably close to 20 years ago.
This group IMHO should have gotten more recognition here in the States than they did.

I agree, Madness is a fun group to listen to! My favorite song by them is "Welcome To The House of Fun".

Madness and Suggs kicks ass!! I play the saxophone and we had a band in high school. All we played was Madness tunes. If you go to England they are even more popular there and Suggs is almost to godhood status.

Madness was a really good group! I have two of their albums "Absolutely" and the one titled "Madness". My two favorite songs by them are "House Of Fun" and "It Must Be Love".

I have the "House of Fun" mp3 on computer and often play that song. I'm surprised Madness didn't achieve more that what they did. They were a great group.

How about "Uncle Sam"? That was a cool song too.

The video to "Uncle Sam" is cool. The guys are dressed in sailor's uniforms and there's an American flag in the background. It is a good song.
I was remembering back when I saw Madness on Solid Gold, and they sang, "It Must Be Love". They were wearing caps, and at the end they bowed and on the caps was the word, "Madness". I thought that was totally cool.
I did see one of Suggs' solo albums at a local record store a year or so ago, and I checked yesterday if it was still there, but it wasn't. I'm going to look into his music. I always tended to like Carl Smyth (or "Chas Smash") and Mark Bedford (or "Bedders"). I would have loved to see them in concert.

"House of Fun" is sooo good. Anyone ever see Madness as the musical guests on that British Show, "The Young Ones"?

They did "House of Fun" and "Our House" on two different episodes.

Young Ones is one of my all time favourite UK comedies. In fact that was the first time I ever heard House of Fun.

I remember that episode fondly xistenza, it is one of my favorites!! Thank goodness for MTV, when it was a good channel, or I would never have learned about the 'Young Ones'.

I never missed "The Young Ones" when it aired on MTV. I think Madness was the only group to appear on two different episodes.

Yes, I believe you're right Iluvthe80s.

It's a pity that they only ever made one series, because it was huge. It's still huge now, always getting repeated. On NZ TV at least.

Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmonson went on to do some other cool stuff together though:

Bottom made me cry it was so funny.
They both made appearances in Rowan Atkinson's Black Adder series too.

But this is a Madness thread. It's typical but One Step Beyond is my fave Madness song. :D

One Step Beyond has got to be one of their most famous songs. Great, indeed.

Now back to the Young Ones, my favorite episode is "Nasty" when The Damned were the musical guest. I've got this one on video. In fact, they have 4 videos out with 3 episodes on each one. We should really move this to the TV section, huh?
