View Full Version : Duran Duran
RetroMan 5-03-00, 09:10 AM Ok Nikki_99 I hope this cheers you up http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif
What is everyone's favorite Duran Duran song & music clip? There are a multitude of hit songs from Simon and the boys. They kicked some serious butt in the 80's - and what about those unforgetable music videos?
My favorite song is Hungry Like The Wolf - that one get's turned up to excessive levels on my car's system - I like to sing along quite loudly while driving, but..uh..that's a secret ok? http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
My Favorite video is Wild Boys - A big production music video with lots of freaky looking people and a certain person tied to a windmill. They don't make 'em like they used to!

Ooh! I lOOOOOOVE Duran Duran! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I like Save A Prayer and Hungry Like The Wolf songs best. Union Of The Snake and Hungry Like The Wolf are my fav videos. But have any of you yet seen the banned clip of Girls On Film since I last mentioned it? I still have it on video. I have to watch it again, I can't help myself, as shocking and rude as it is! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Oh! And I finally found Careless Memories on Mp3 a few weeks ago! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Yeah!

RetroMan 5-03-00, 12:14 PM EMI and Roadshow re-released a video late last year called `Duran Duran The Greatest Hits -The Videos` it has 21 full length, un-sensored clips. I think it's still available!
I got it before it was even released (I love my job!)
Yeah the rude clips are a bit saucy aren't they! ha ha! when I first saw 'Girls On Film, I was a bit young for that sort of thing! ha ha! I think they were designed to be banned = publicity - it worked http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

Roemello 5-03-00, 03:33 PM yeeeeeeeaaaaaahhhhh....now this is what I'M talkin' about! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I don't know if I can pick a favorite....hmmmm...right now I'd say Hungry Like the Wolf. My other main faves are: Rio, Last Chance on the Stairway, The Reflex, New Moon on Monday, Shadows on Your Side, A View to a Kill, The Chauffer's got a nifty eery beat to it...cool stuff. Their 90's stuff is good too...Ordinary World, Come Undone...ok, I've said enough http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif
They just kick ass! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/cool.gif http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Nikki_91 5-03-00, 11:25 PM AAAAw Riiiight!!!! Now we're on a really good topic! Thanks guys, this cheers me up!
My favorite Duran song..ooh, so many to choose from!
Hmmmm, The Reflex, love the song and the video, just gives out a good vibe when I'm in a downer kind of mood! I just relive all the good concert moments I had when I saw them in 92! That was such a blast! Nikki

Check ya later-I'm outta here!*Nikki*
RetroMan 5-03-00, 11:48 PM The Reflex is great - Duran Duran just kept dishing out hit after hit - There are some great extended versions & dance remixes of that song. Another Video I like is the one for View To A Kill - I think If I ever visit the Eifel Tower, I'll have "Dance Into the Fire' going over and over in my head! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif

Simon loves his difficult film clips. First they all get very sea sick on Rio then Simon's head gets stuck under water when the widmill stops in the Wild Boys film clip! Living dangerously, hey?

RetroMan 5-05-00, 08:58 AM yeah! what a clip though! all that fire! all those freaky costumes and the incredible set - all just for one music video! Duran Duran had it all!
Another song besides Girls On Film that was banned was 'The Chauffer' - it had rude bits in it also - these days there would be no problem, but back then they thought "Ooh that's too saucy for TV" ha ha http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/tongue.gif
------------------
I've never seen The Chauffer nor heard it except for Powderfinger's version on the Australian tribute album. I didn't like Kylie Minogue and Ben Lee's version of The Reflex, it sucked big time and sounded nothing like it. I did like Area 7's version of Careless Memories though, even though I can't stand them.

Roemello 5-06-00, 02:24 AM The Chauffer's got a funky/eery kind of beat to it...not much for lyrics, but it's a cool song anyway.

Sal Collaziano 5-06-00, 02:59 AM Please go to the Dance, Techno, Rave, Progressive section. I have a question about this type of music there... There's only one message in that section - just read the messages towards the end of the thread.

RetroMan 5-06-00, 08:26 AM Oh Sheree! that Kylie and Ben version was terrible wasn't it http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/frown.gif - I wonder what Simon thought of it?? I can't work out why they ended up putting it on the album! the Powerfinger version is great http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smile.gif
------------------
Too true, Retroman! You'd think that Kylie could do better, then maybe not http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/biggrin.gif Powderfinger are just great anyway. Do you know who else was on that album. i know that The Living End, Custard, The Mavis's, and Somethign For kate were also on it but don't know what songs they did. They only played a few on the J Files when they featured Duran Duran. I think The Mavis's did 'Planet Earth', I think Living End would've done 'Wild Boys', Custard would've done 'Girls On Film', but can't remember what Something for Kate did. I did hear it though. I would've liked to heard the whole album though.
