I'm currently compiling information for a book to be published in 2002 on rock & roll sequels -- songs that are followups, in some sense, to previously existing songs (by the same artist or not). Examples include: Ashes to Ashes, David Bowie's followup to Space Oddity; Sequel, Harry Chapin's followup to Taxi; Little Marie, Chuck Berry's followup to Memphis, etc. Are you aware of any connections along these lines? Any assistance I receive will be credited in the book's acknowledgments.
Many thanks,

Now that I have come a little further here I see you do have it under pop. Good thinking to put it under all catergories. Good luck. Don't forget "Major Tom (Coming home) by Peter Schilling is also a sequel to "Space Oddity"

I thought of another one, "It's my party" and "Judy's turn to cry" by Leslie Gore

Tonight on my 80's show I played "The rain" by Oran "Juice" Jones and backed it up with the answer "Thunder and lightning" by Miss Thang. I can't believe I didn't think of it earlier.

Hmm. How about Metallica with The Unforgiven and The Unforgiven II? Or how about King Diamond? He's got entire ALBUMS that are sequels to albums which were complete stories. If you'd like to know more about this stuff, let me know...

Megadeth's new album has a song called, "Return to Hanger" which is the sequel to a song called, "Hanger 18".
