I used to basically live at this place called the Akron Agora. It was a total glam club in the 80's.It,sadly,is now a country bar called the boot scootin' saloonhttp://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//yucky.gifI almost cried when they changed it.Alot of good memories in that place.

Thats funny.. cause we used to have a bar here in town that was all 80s on certain nights and it is strictly country, too... WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING IN THIS WORLD!!

I hate newer country music but I've developed a respect over the last couple of years for old country(Johnny Cash,Hank Williams Sr.,etc)I started listening to some of it because I like Mike Ness and he covers alot of old country tunes.

I love country music. I worked at WXTA Country 98 here in Erie. I got to meet George Strait in person. There's an 80's country artist who is still standing strong!!!! He is THE MAN when it comes to country!

I'm a closet George Strait girl.....He doesn't sound "whiney" when he sings.....plus, he's easy on the eyes! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//wink.gif

Hitting this post way after the fact, but I ended up here doing a Google search for ...you guessed it "Akron Agora"!
I just had to add to it because the place was such a huge part of everyones life (those who followed music and more importantly, bands, in the 80's).
I started going there in "81" (still in high school...:dgrin:lol) and wound up bouncing there in the 90's.
In the final days of The Agora my life was changing...I had just had a daughter and my 'clubbing' days seemed to be all but over. I had moved to Kent and didn't get out like I did before. My circle of friends was just starting to change and so not one soul got a hold of me to tell me it was closing. I found out weeks later and it was like a part of me died.
Well I won't drag on, but I just wanted to chime in on how great that place was!!!
It has never been the same since the Agora closed.
