View Full Version : Favorite 80s bands that give you crap nowadays??
Jefferson Starship 9-30-03, 05:33 PM It's been a while since I went to start a thread about this, it's on my nerves and inside my heart! Which bands that give you a lot for you're money in the 80s (maybe 70s & 90s too) that don't interrest you anymore today? I'm talkin' about their new stuff! Mine are Madonna, Cher (that remix voice is simply horrible), Sting (in fact he still did some great things but his last song just annoyed me), Simply Red and I can't think of others... what's yours?? I know some people will probably said when you're a fan of them, you're a fan for life. Ok maybe, I agree with that but when they give cheapo music and make very big bucks, that just shocked me!!
Caligula 9-30-03, 05:55 PM Def Leppard, Elton John
Foreigner 9-30-03, 06:38 PM elton john yesss!
i kinda get fed up with Styx and El debarge...aRgH
Jefferson Starship 9-30-03, 08:02 PM I have to agree with Elton John. In fact I like a lot Circle of Life but the last few things I heard of him... that makes me puke lol!!
Slayergrrl 9-30-03, 10:08 PM Metallica.
Roemello 9-30-03, 11:09 PM I'd agree with Madonna to an extent... she's had a couple decent tunes, but nothing like the 80s. Duran Duran's latest wasn't all too grand, but I'm hopeful the fab five reunion will be a change for the better. Michael Jackson... self explanatory there...
tonepoet 9-30-03, 11:55 PM Elton John. Without his song writing partner (Bernie I-can't-remember-his-last-name), his music is nothing more than garbage anymore. Sappy and without any direction. Madonna, to me she hasn't done much since Vogue (and she looks too manly.........GAKK!). Michael Jackson doesn't even sing anymore, he just gasps and screeches and gulps. His singing has been substited by the noises created by his sleepover guests!
Definitely Madonna! Is there anyone who really wants to hear music from her anymore? (Hope 80sTrivia doesn't get upset with me ;) )
Michael Jackson is definitely another one.
I would also add Prince and Kylie Minogue. (And to think I was a real fan of Kylie back in the 80s)
80s hair 10-01-03, 07:14 AM Metallica: The new album is SO BAD!!
Van Halen: The last album they did, III, with Gary C. from Extreme. It was so bad they had Eddie singing one of the tracks. You know that is bad!!
David Lee Roth: The "Diamond Dave" album, please stop! "Come on Dave give me a break."
Jefferson Starship 10-01-03, 09:09 AM Madonna is on her ''actual'' days with the era of hip hop!! It dosen't look great to her and i'm sure she loss a lot of fans!! In fact, i am one of thoses! She have great philosophy but it's like Celine Dion, her era pop make me think I never see her before when she was very nice with her young voice singing a great song on tv with about 100 million people around the world!!
angeleyes25 10-01-03, 10:54 PM I'm a huge fan of Def Leppard's 80's and early 90's stuff but I can't get into their new stuff.Other people Madonna,Michael Jackson,Poison,Duran Duran.
Madonna, definitely. Add Ministry and Nine Inch Nails to that list.
jillybean 11-13-03, 09:24 AM One word... METALLICA.
Others are definitely Madonna... blech. I used to love her til after Erotica came out. I did buy Ray of Light but for maybe 2 songs on there and that is it. I have always hated Sting so that is just a given. Michael Jackson is so self-explanatory (can't believe I wanted to marry him in 4th grade... what was I thinking?) and there are many others but Metallica is the top of my list. After the black album, they should have quit while they were ahead. And this crap they called getting back to their roots is even worse than Load.
wavemaster 11-13-03, 09:25 AM Pet Shop Boys...used to like their music of the 80's, but now it seems that they have decide to be BEING BORING (pun intended).
And if Depeche Mode will ever release another album, I just hope that it's not that awful as EXCITER was...
Jefferson Starship 11-13-03, 10:53 AM Had to agree with PSB, they were such a great band in the 80s!!
Hey I have to say something, not bad, but hey last night I see a new video of The Cure (2003) and it was so impressive!! They still have that touch and the singer sill sing the same way!! I'm very impress!! The Cure rocks!
