View Full Version : 80's Artists Tours this year
Trixter 12-03-01, 12:54 AM I am curious to know what shows you caught this year by 80's artists that are still kickin' it?
I saw:
Depeche Mode - Exciter Tour - San Antonio
Stevie Nicks - Trouble In Shangri-La Tour - Houston
Both were excellent shows! Stevie Rocks!!
I had tickets to Olivia Newton-John but was unable to make it to Dallas.
Iluvthe80s 12-03-01, 01:02 AM The only two concerts I have went to this year are these:
First was Ronnie James Dio at The Backroom here in Austin. Really cool show.
Second, was Endfest sponsored by our local 80's station 107.7 The End. Artists included: A Flock Of Seagulls, The Fixx, The Outfield, and Warsaw ( a Joy Division tribute band). Gene Loves Jezebel was supposed to play but could not make it. The best band was The Fixx. Flock Of Seagulls sucked. The only original member was the lead singer.
ImSoooSure 12-06-01, 04:59 AM Elton John was the last concert I saw. Which was excellent!!!
If Duran Duran tours I will make it a point to try to see them.
I was also going to see Olivia in Vegas but her last concert date there was the day before I arrived. I was so disappointed! :(
If The Offspring comes here again next year I will see them. I hear that is a fun concert!
Trixter 12-07-01, 09:21 AM Forgot to mention that I tried to get tickets to Madonna this summer, a friend got two, but we needed four. He went with another friend. That is a regret this year! I've been burned!
90's note:
I wanted so desperately to see Tori Amos for the fourth time, but after the events of 9/11 a friend was feeling anxious about travelling, I guess I can understand that. I'll catch her next time!
I went to three Pat Benatar concerts this year. Two of those shows were here in Florida (Tampa & Orlando), but they weren't part of her summer tour. I also went to see her in Atlantic City in August where the Pat Benatar Fanclub held its annual Patfest at this year.
I'm a big fan...what can I say? :D

Sarg, I would LOVE to see Pat Benatar in concert!!! Pat rocks! She was a major influence on the 80's! I hope to get her 3 cd set this Christmas!!! She is a true artist.
The summer of 2002 would be a good chance for you to see her in concert, Trixter. She's already planning on a big tour next year for her new studio CD called "GIRL" which will be out by April. It was supposed to be released this year, but the tour took up studio time to do the final editing for the CD.
In the meantime she has just released a new Christmas single called "Christmas In America".

I would love to see her too! She was always one of my most favorite female vocalist. :)
Sarg, tell me if she ever has anymore Texas dates.
I'll be sure to let you guys know her tour schedule as soon as I know it. So far the only thing I know about next year's tour is that Pat Benatar & co are setting things up to do some tour dates in Canada.
In the meantime, Pat will debut the new Christmas music video for "Christmas In America" on WE: Women's Entertainment channel tomorrow night at 8pm ET.
She also has the new live concert DVD or VHS of "Summer Vacation Tour 2001" which was taped on May 8, 2001 in Anahiem, CA.
It's a great concert DVD with four brand new songs on it that will be on "GIRL".
The DVD & VHS tape are not available in stores till 2002, but they are available through her website below.
Trixter 12-15-01, 01:17 AM Thanks for the additional information Sarg! I'll keep on the lookout for the new DVD and album, as well as your announcement of tour dates. I hope to see Pat Benatar & Fleetwood Mac next year!! :)

Sonny Burnett 1-12-02, 10:54 AM I saw two 80s artist concerts last year, The Tubes and Gary Numan.
Nikki_91 2-21-02, 08:38 AM Ok, so we're talking about major concerts. I was fortunate enough to win tickets to 3 80's concerts over the summer. (Don't be jealous Stacy!!) The all of them were sponsored by 80's radio stations in Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio.
I won tickets to an 80's concert in June that took place in Dallas, with the Motels (Suddenly, Last Summer), the Outfield, The Fixx, and Berlin. This concert totally rocked!!!
The second show was here in Austin, by our local 80's station. The Endfest, same one that Iluv80's went to. Anyway, that lineup was Flock of Seagulls, The Fixx, and The Outfield. I loved the Fixx!!
The third concert was in San Antonio, once again by yet another radio station. This was by far, the best concert for me!!!!
It had Berlin, Terri Nunn rocks!!!!!! Taylor Dayne, and my ultimate fave, Rick Springfield. Ladies, he is still HOT!!!! OMG, I was just in total awe of this man, he puts on such a cool live show!
He's still gorgeous!!!
Then in November, I went to see him in Vegas. Oh yeah, I also got to go see U2 in November. They played in Austin, I had such a good seat, right in front of the stage..Bono rocks!!!!
I think that's about it...I wanted to go see Stevie Nicks, but I didn't make it...
Oh, I forgot to add..I can't believe I forgot this one..geez! Here in Austin, right after 9/11..a hard rock station had a concert with Joan Jett and the Black Crowes. Joan Jett is soo incredibly cool and she totally rocks!!
By the way Trixter..I've seen Olivia in concert! I love her voice..she was my fave back in the 80's.
