View Full Version : Freddy V Jason RULED!
I just got back from seeing this. I dont want to spoil it too much, so I will say this much. Freddy needs Jason to kill people so that they will think that it is Freddy killing and people will fear Freddy again. That is the only way he can come back and kill people himself. But, Freddy gets mad at Jason for killing and getting the "glory". If you like any of the Nightmare on Elm Streets first three movies, you will LOVE this one. It isnt all comedy and crappy like #4-6. Some good kill scenes. and BOOBIES! Cant go wrong with BOOBIES! Plus, we get some classic Freddy footage at the begining and some flashbacks of Jason near the end.
SPeaking of the end, you THINK you know who won out, but at the very last scene, there is a little shot that leaves it in doubt.
GO SEE THIS MOVIE!
Slayergrrl 8-15-03, 04:18 PM I can't wait to see this!!! And now that you've mentioned Boobies it'll be easier to get my boyfriend to go. :)
DC Rebel 8-15-03, 04:19 PM I would have to agree. That movie was an awesome movie.
I have a choice to go see Freddy vs. Jason or Bad Boys II on Sunday. After reading your review, I am definitely choosing this one! :) It sounds pretty cool.
Roemello 8-15-03, 07:31 PM As soon as I log off, my ass is movie bound baby! :D I've been waiting a loooooooooong time for this. Now not only do I have the showdown to look forward to, but boobies!! whoo-hoo!
boobies.
Sounds cool but I will wait to rent it. :)
Roemello 8-16-03, 12:45 AM Ok, premier night is over... if ya haven't seen it yet, SHAME ON YOU!! I won't go too in-depth... nothing about the ending (for now), but a little overview of some of the good stuff...
I loved this movie! The flashbacks in the beginning were pretty cool... and that opening boobie scene... whoo-hoo! Freddy didn't disappoint at all... he played Jason like a fiddle. Suitable for the big brainless oaf :p Intelligence did come into play a little and Freddy used it to an advantage. He kicked the living snot outta Jason when he entered his dream... that first fight was hilarious... Freddy plays a mean game of pinball "Oops... tilt" And then when Freddy was brought out for the end fight, he STILL had the upperhand in a lot of the fight sequences. Freddy a wimp? He beat Jason like a red-headed stepchild! Sure, Jason got his licks in and they were slow, hard and effective, but Freddy's quickness gave him the upperhand most of the time. It was fairly even I guess, but Freddy looked a lot better kickin the snot outta Jason than the other way around :p
On the flipside, all that crap about Jason being a sympathetic character was layed to waste... as I knew it was all bullshit. He butchered well in typical Jason style. The bed scene of his first kill and the rampage scene out in the grassfield was very nice. And the line of the night came from that stoned kid on the way out... "That goalie was seriously pissed off" The whole theater cracked up on that one  Jason was far from sympathetic... just as the reviews I read way in advance said... he certainly was a badass (well, except the part where Freddy finds Jason's fear of water and Jason turns into a little boy after Freddy used that fact to his advantage... that portrayed him as kinda pathetic, but that's who Jason is deep down :p).
Of course the patheticness was all over when Jason woke up and the final battle ensued at Camp Crystal Lake. GREAT battle in the end. Freddy had Jason down until he completely flucked up and Jason started laying into him. I loved it when Freddy chopped off Jason's fingers and stole the machete and just chopped the living hell outta Jason... two fisted machete and glove... man did he slice him up good... but it didn't end there...
I won't go into the ending since that's the big spoiler... maybe we should start that talk Monday... give everyone the weekend to see it :p
As a big fan of the elm street series and a moderate fan of the Friday the 13th series, I thought it was a great show... but then, I'm easily amused and by no means a tough movie critic :p
ElectricYouth 8-16-03, 01:12 AM Oh, I am so there! Freddy and Jason ruled in the 80s. I even watched them at age 4 *hides emotional scars from doing this LOL*
BTW, has anyone with DirecTV or satellite TV noticed how much they've been playing "Nightmare On Elm Street" and "Friday The 13th" movies the last two weeks? Coincidence? Hmmm...
ptblover 8-16-03, 01:47 AM Hi, I just got back also from seeing this movie and it was great! I loved Freddy's one liners and some of them are really funny. All I can say is that I have been waiting a long time for this and it was worth the wait!
Freddy Freddy!!
Ugly Kid Jeff72 8-16-03, 01:58 AM That's bitchen Jasp! Dude I so wanted to go tonight, but my son went to Texas and wont be back till Sat. night. If I see it without him, hell do a Jason on my @ss. Anyway! I'm going Sat. night. I goin in costume. I got my mask and machete ready.
Damn, I wanted to go tonight!!!!! :jason:
Livinthedream 8-17-03, 03:20 AM The first time I felt a girls BOOBIES, was while I was watching a Nightmare on Elm Street:lol: Coincidence? I think not;)
I wonder if I could find anyone to see this with me?
:freddy: RULES!!!
80sTrivia 8-17-03, 08:46 AM From the reviews thus far, I'm definitely lining up to see this one! :thumb:
I heard earlier that it took in $36 million this weekend. Knew it would be the #1 movie. lol
Now that I think about it...I may be interested in seeing this in the theater.
We just got back from this movie.. and it didn't disapoint us. Now the kids want to see all the original movies  the ones I liked as a kid.
Now I could have went with out all of those boobie shots :p
Jefferson Starship 8-24-03, 06:52 PM It's a good flick, i have something to say on one thing I hate about this one ===) JASON!! Damn the guy who played him is BORING as hell!! Where is Kane Hodder, the best jason alive?? That one didn't brings a lot of things. Freddy is more interresting in this movie... that's a great one, don't miss it!!
I HAVE to disagree with you Jefferson....Jason BORING??? The scene where he runs amok at the rave is AWESOME!!! Vintage Jason Vorhees!!!
I agree Kane Hodder is the man...I have to dig up the picture me and my wife took with him...the guy is HUGE!
The movie gets two thumbs up except for the ending. Kind of leaves you up in the air about who really wins.
Kind of liked it when the black chick called Freddy a pussy and joked about the size of his.....well.....
I also liked the fact that they showed alot more of the killings than they normally do. Alot more gore than in the earlier movies....and the killings were seen, not implied. Everything a gore hound like me could ask for!
And the boobies......oh man.....two of the best sets I've seen, especially the girl in the shower. She annoyed the hell out of me with her personality, but man....what a bod!!! :thumb:

It has to be that way. They're both immortal... neither can ever die, thus there'll never be a clear cut winner. And of course they gotta keep the door open for sequels
Ugly Kid Jeff72 8-25-03, 04:05 PM And you thought I ruined it for ya, Pagan! I still seemed sad for Jason at the end of their battle. He almost became the good guy for a moment! I loved it!!!
Jefferson Starship 8-26-03, 03:37 PM I didn't like a lot this Jason, maybe if it haves a sequel, Kane will be back!! :) Anyway the movie is cool, I will go see that movie again probably tonight!! :P

finally rented this last night, and it was well worth it. Kane Hodder did offer to play Jason, but the director felt he was too small in proportion to Freddy, Kane Hodder is 6'3 while the new Jason is 6'6 ...
ooohh and the boobies were all incredible, unfortunately what may have been the best set (on Lori) , remained in her sweater througout the movie :dammit:
Iluvthe80s 1-25-04, 12:12 PM That's funny Cal because I rented it last night as well. It was pretty good. Definately leaves it hanging for a second one possibly.
80sTrivia 1-25-04, 06:50 PM I watched Freddy Vs. Jason again on DVD last weekend and enjoyed it the second time around! :thumb: I'm glad it ended the way it did, as I watched the alternate ending, which would have really sucked!

I am right with ya Cal 100% I was hoping to catch a glimpse, but to no avail  Almost thought it was gonna happen during that alternate ending (which I agree with Triv... SUCKED!), but again... nada :p
Jefferson Starship 1-26-04, 02:59 PM Yeah but it's nothing like the 80s flick of NOES & FT13th, in fact I think FvsJ is very overrated, the murders are most of them off-screen and except the murder with the guy who have his head crack 180 degrees from the front to the back is pretty cool but the others lacks of originality!! Like I said, Jason is terribly boring! The movie is good for Freddy Krueger! Still da man!! period. :thumb: But hey that's my opinion! I am a huge fan of freddy/jason from 81 movies to 89, didn't like a lot Freddy VI and JGTH
Roemello 1-26-04, 03:46 PM Lacks originality?! You tryin to tell me the first kill where Jason folds the guy like an accordion in the bed wasn't good? Or the massacre in the corn field? I think you're expecting too much  While I'm much more of a Freddy fan, one can't deny Jason had the best kills in the movie.

Jefferson, you got me more confused than usual. You say you like the old Friday the 13th I- VI , but in an earlier post you mentioned how the only good Jason was Kane Hodder. Kane was only in Number 7-10 ?
My son said this seemed more funny than scary...he said it was pretty bloody, tho', and worth seeing. Guess I'll have to take a peek. ;)
superdazdj 1-30-04, 07:17 AM they should make a freddy vs jason vs michael myers....that would be interesting too.
the only thing I didn't particualrly like about F vs J, is that it was released after they did Jason X, which is pretty good in it;s own right....but of course Jason X is set in the Future, and Freddy was more more evil than the freddy latter sequels, but not as evil as he was in new nightmare.....they could look at the script, and make it a lot darker...effects were good, and death scenes were average....i have yet to see a film with better death scenes than that of From Dusk til Dawn...that film was manic, and even better as it didn't give too much away at the beginning as to how the film was going to progress..unfortunately all the sequels sucked..big time.
Cheers

New Nightmare and Jason X have no connection to FvsJ. Freddy vs Jason picks up after Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare and Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday. New Nightmare's almost a spinoff of sorts from the rest of that series.... Jason X... I don't know how to explain that silly thing :p

Bon Jovi 1-31-04, 08:38 PM I Loved FVJ I've never seen anyone of the Friday The 13th Movies I've only seen the Nightmare on Elm Street Trilogies & I Love Those!
I Even Love Listening to the Commentary With Ronnie Yu, Ken Kurstinger(sp?) & Robert Englund! I'm Glad They Didn't go with the Alternate Ending cuzz I just couldnt Figure out what that was suposed to mean.
