King was energetic group that got a little airplay for their song "Love and Pride" I had that 12" and still crank up that song every time I hear it. While listening to DJLex.com I heard "Won't You Hold My Hand Now", another great King track. Another favorite is "Fish". Anybody remember this group?
Here's the BIO from AMG: After Coventry ska revivalists the Reluctant Stereotypes broke up, lead singer Paul King chose a more commercial dance-rock direction for his new band King, which he formed in 1983. The band King featured guitarist James "Jackel" Lantsbery, keyboardist Mick Roberts, bassist Tony Wall, and former Members drummer Adrian Lillywhite. Dressed in colorful costumes and spray-painted Doc Martens, the group scored a major U.K. hit with "Love and Pride," taken from their 1984 debut Steps in Time. After the 1985 follow-up, Bitter Sweet, King dissolved his band and embarked on a solo career that produced one album, 1987's Joy. He subsequently became a veejay for MTV.
