Okay, I'm all signed up! Now Nolan, where do we go for the draft, how do we all get there, etc. (I missed last year's draft, remember?)

On the day of the draft (I got in early to get a good time, I hope everyone can make it), go to the yahoo league page and click the draft link at the top.

Try to be logged in at least 10 min before start time, and also test your system with the test on your team's roster page beforehand.

I've never made it to a live draft, how does it work, how long do you have to make you pick, what happens if you don't pickin time?, if you start to get flustered can the computer pick for you? .. How long does it take, can you type messages to the others ?

The others who were at the live draft last year can correct me if I leave something out, but here goes:

The draft is run on a Java script (so be sure to test your system at the yahoo league page beforehand). You'll need to log-in to the draft from the yahoo league page at least 10 min before the start time. From there the each team will go in order, having 90 seconds to make a pick. If you pick before the 90 sec is up, the next owner is on the clock as soon as you pick (so don't get distracted during someone else's turn!)

Also, be sure to prerank your players so that the computer can pick for you in case you: a)can't show for the draft at all. b)suddenly have to go eat/pee/run an errand, and miss your turn, or c) as Cal said, you freeze at the critical moment and can't commit to a pick in 90 seconds. :lol:

The whole draft should take about an hour, hour & a half max, depending upon how many folks show and how long they take to pick. Also, remember the draft order is 1-14 in odd rounds, and 14-1 in even rounds, so some of your picks may come close together if you are near either end of the order.

There is also a chat function so that you can communicate with other players, for example, to ridicule their draft choices. :laugh: There is also a running tally of who you've picked and the players still available.

I am totally excited for this season..the new XFL site look really good Buc, you have done some amazing work. I hope everyone is at the draft it will be much more fun! Then we can see who the draft masters are...

Sorry about the draft time fellas :( , but when you've got owners from California to Ireland it's hard to nail down a time when everyone can be there. If it looks like most of the owners will not be able to make it, I can change the date or time. But I have to do it soon, draft times at yahoo are going fast!

A couple of announcements:

The randomization of the draft will be done by the server this year. I think it will be done just prior to the draft, which will suck since we'll each need to plan a draft stategy.

Also, please note the "Can't Cut List" on the yahoo league page. This is a list of players you cannot cut no matter what. It is to reduce the chance of someone cutting top notch players on purpose to ruin the league. The list will change frequently according to yahoo, based on performance and injuries.

These are both changes made by yahoo and I had no control over them. Sorry. :(
