SLIDELL, La -- A report that someone was yelling on top of a water tower sent Slidell police scurrying to help early Friday morning.
Authorities said they arrested a couple who told police they wanted to have sex "on top of the world."
The incident began just after 3 a.m. when police arrived at the scene and used a loudspeaker to try to make contact with whomever was on the tower. When police got no response, they started up the ladder.
About the same time, a couple started down. Police met them about 215 feet above ground and escorted them down.
Once on the ground, the man and woman, whom police said was intoxicated, were placed under arrest. John Meyers, 44, of Alexandria, and Brenda Orme, 45, of Slidell, each face one count of criminal trespassing and disturbing the peace. Meyers faces an additional charge of criminal negligence for use of a key he obtained as the tower's painting contractor to gain access to the top of the structure.
