AtelloBassist 10-18-00, 11:38 PM Hey everyone!
Good to see things are back on line (I was beginning to get worried!)
I guess I'll kick things off here by saying thabks to everyone who showed up to our show last weekens at L'Amour in Brooklyn when we opened for Tyketto, now known as Vaughn. (God only knows why they changed the name - nobody I know thinks or knows of them as Vaughn, at least not here in the NYC area).
We had a special guest guitarist on stage with us, one Mr. Bruce Gatewood, the man who actually played 99% of the guitars on our CD, not Rick Giarmo. Why? That's because Rick decided to just up and leave the band two weeks before the gig. Lucky for us, Bruce was able to rearrange his schedule to play with us. Visit http://www.Atello.com this weekend to see pictures from the show, and http://www.Brucegatewood.com to visit his page and hear sound samples.
SO.......
The whole point of me saying all this is that if you are, or know of, a guitarist between the ages of 25-35, who fits our sound and style,(most of you 80's Xchangers know what were all about, if not, visit the web site)please send them my way at bass1969@juno.com...Obviously, only NYC Metro area people need apply, since if you lived in California or Canada, getting to band practice would be a little tough!
Well, that's it for now, hopefully my buddy Pagan will be back on the board soon too!
Peace,
R.A.
Sal Collaziano 10-19-00, 02:09 AM Heeey! What's up?! Well, I'm glad to see ya back.. I do have someone in mind to fill in your guitarist spot. Let me see if I can get in touch with him. He's from Band Central Station. They haven't really been doing much (not sure what the hold up is) but I think they're along the lines of the same type of music. Maybe not as powerful, but who knows. Maybe he'd fit in. I will see what I can do. Otherwise, I'm sure one way or the other you'll get somebody good in there!
The songs that I downloaded as MP3's - who was on guitar for them?

AtelloBassist 10-19-00, 12:01 PM Hey Sal!
That sounds great...I'll go check out their web site now...As for the MP3's, that was indeed ALL Bruce Gatewood....He was hired to do the CD, as Rick was not in the band when we started recording. All Rick did on the CD was play one small "outro" solo. Everything else is Bruce. It was not a pleasant split with Rick, either, but that's another story in itself.
Peace,
R.A.
Sal Collaziano 10-19-00, 05:52 PM Hmm. Well, it sucks to hear that you had to part ways with a band member. But, for me I wont really realize it - since someone else played on the songs I heard. It would be cool if Bruce could fill in. But, I'm sure Rick must have had some good qualities since you'd had him in there at all...

AtelloBassist 10-22-00, 02:40 AM Hey, Sal.......Yeah, normally it does suck to loose a band member, usualy it's always for a bad reason, almost never is it an amicable "parting of the ways". However, this time the "bad reason" was a blessing in disguise...Rick always was the "weak link in the chain" in the band, and I always knew it was a matter of time before problems came to a head. Seems I was the only one to see the problem until it was too late - too late being that he dropped out right before a gig. Like I stated earlier, Bruce was able to step in - a true professional AND friend.
I guess the only way it was ever an "issue" to you and other fans/friends of the band to not know Rick's playing as opposed to Bruce's, was due to our decision to relase the CD with the appearance that Rick was the guitarist on the CD. That was done to promote the band as a band, not a bunch of studio guys, with a different band to tour in support of the album.
While Bruce didn't write the songs, he wrote the parts, and knew them by heart. Plus, Bruce plays for a living (it helps), while Rick worked as a computer help desk tech, and after what he pulled with us, probably always will...word gets around fast in the business.
For right now, Bruce will be filling in on any gigs we might do, but we've got a couple of guys lined up to be permanent members of the band. Any luck on getting ahold of your friend? I couldn't find a web page for them...do you know what it is?
Thanks for letting me rant and rave,
R.A. http://www.Atello.com
Sal Collaziano 10-23-00, 11:00 PM Hey, thanks for filling me in. Well, I've asked a friend to contact the guitarist. I have a feeling that wont happen - you know how it goes. I was supposed to be building their website since a year ago - hasn't happened yet.. If I hear anything I will let you know. However, I feel it's unlikely. Nonetheless, you'll have someone great in no time. It wouldn't make sense if someone great didn't come your way! Let us know. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

AtelloBassist 10-24-00, 12:27 PM Sal, thank you again for helping, and for the kind words...Actually, we are in contact with a guitarist from Massapequa (out near you on LI?)...He was in a Guns N' Roses tribute band, Appetite For Destruction. Also, have you heard of a band called Surrender? We played with them at L'Amour, and I see that they play alot out in Ronkonkoma, Port Washington, that area. As other bands do, (or should I say do not) I didn't get a chance to check them out since they were on before us and I was busy getting ready. Any board members know them or they're music?
Gotta run and do some work now,
Peace,
R.A. http://www.Atello.com
Sal Collaziano 10-25-00, 10:56 PM Hey, funny you mention Surrender. There is a guy with that name posting messages about the band here. Maybe he's a band member? Cool. http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif I'm sure you've seen his message in this section by now..
Ahh, yes. Massapequa. I lived there for awhile. Very close to me.. My girlfriend lives there, actually.. I don't know many people from there, though. Tell us how he does! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif
