All Conneticut and New York metal fans, make sure you see this show! L'Amour is a great room, and I think LIVESAY will kick some serious ass there! I was real disapointed when we couldn't get to do the show there with LIVESAY on June 3rd since we are trying to get both bands on one bill, but that's O.K.....
Because on June 9th, at the Birch Hill Night Club in Old Bridge NJ, (THE place to see live acts in New Jersey) ATELLO will be opening for Mr. Big! So, if you live in New Jersey or Pennsylvania, or cant make it to the L'Amour show for Mr. Big, try to get down to the Birch Hill.
Before I go, I just want to explain my shameless plugging....If you're not in a band, or are friends with one, you might not be aware that ticket sales are very important to unsigned original bands like ATELLO and LIVESAY. Ticket sales do a couple of things...
Most importantly, they can make or break a band at a certain club and/or clubs - a band that doesn't draw a crowd will not be asked back to play again, no matter how good they are, and more than likely also get a bad name in the business AND fan circuts. Also, for a band, the more tickets they sell, the better gigs they get offered (kind of like opening for Ratt as opposed to opening for the Stephen Pearcy solo project), and they get the better opening band slots...Going on at 9:00 and playing to 50 people as opposed to going on at 11:00 and playing for 500! Get the idea?
Playing out at big clubs for big national acts is not about the money....Very little is taken in, even if a band sells 100 or so tickets, (which is not as easy as it sounds) what is made usually goes right back into band expenses. It's not like a cover band that reaps in $1500 a night for playing someone elses music for 5 hours...I'm not TOO bitter, am I?
Well, thats the scoop. Thanks for listening to me rant and rave.

Playing (and paying) till it hurts,

R.A.

The best chance I have right now is Mulcayes (how do you spell that?). I still have a little while longer before I can make time for myself... http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/frown.gif
