This is a tuff one because most of us will agree that todays artists can't compare with those of the 80s. This list isn't ONLY about talent though. I am wondering what artists of today are at about the same fame & popularity level of a similar artist of the 80s. For instance if you love System Of A Down, is there any artist of the 80s that you feel was like them in their day. I am hopeing we can all come up with 5. Remember, it doesnt mean you personally think they are equally talented, just a good comparison. Just do what ya can. Here's mine; Now nobody get mad!:lol:

Madonna=Gwen Stefani
Pat Benetar=Sheryl Crowe
Avril Lavigne=Debbie Gibson
Three Doors Down=INXS
The Donnas=The GoGos

Travis kind of remind me of Lloyd Cole & the Commotions
Big Boi of Outkast reminds me of Maestro Fresh Wes
Britney Spears reminds me of Samantha Fox
Kylie Minogue now reminds me of Madonna in her early 80's days
Atomic Kiten remind me big time of Bananarama

I'd say:

Jessica Simpson = Debbie Gibson (virginal blonde)

Jennifer Lopez = Madonna (J.L. can act but not sing; M can sing but not act; doesn't stop either from trying to do both, anyway)

Usher = LL Cool J (songs appeal to women; men use them to get a little)

Christina Aquilera = Cyndi Lauper or Cher (weird hair and barely dressed)

Linkin Park = Faith No More (mix rap with metal)
