does anyone know the best way to remove wallpaper, do the machines you rent that used steam work, and will it also remove the glue?

Great find Nottie, Dif works great, I painted and did remodleing for over 15 years, DO NOT waste your time and money on a steamer. Hint: the wetter you keep the paper the easier it comes off, trust me on that one.

Thanks Nottie and AMK... I was told the steamer worked great, but when I called the paint store the guy told me not to waste my money, he said to get the paper tiger and some solvents he sold. I then called the rental company who rents the steamer and they said their customers couldn't be happier. Somehow after reading this I'm inclined to believe the paper tiger is the way to go

OK ..anyone what are the advantages and disadvantages of Latex verses oil based paints for interior painting ?

I used Dif last summer to try to remove some wallpaper border from Steff's bedroom walls. It turned the walls blue and I had to paint over it. :( I was very disappointed. I used the steamer when I removed wallpaper in my Louisiana house and it worked like a charm. I'll never use Dif again.

If you use the Dif, make sure you keep it wet, trust me Cal. As far as the paints go, latex is much easier to work with and clean up is easy, just use water. Oil is nice if you are using it as a primer, but cleanup sucks and it smells horrible. The way paint is today latex material is just as durable as oil, cheaper too.

I just got done using DIF and I had no problems. It worked wonderfuly and didn't leace any residue. Maybe you should try a sample are to see how the chemicles work with your wall paper.
