View Full Version : Metallica - Wats ur Joke People?
I havent been here in a while, and was shocked to see what many of you wrote in reply to the Post about Jason leaving the band.
Metallica are not going in the same direction as Limp Bizkit and those Korn type bands- you fools! They have grown with age in too a brilliant rock band no matter what you all say. Oh, for your information the new bass player for Metallica is probably goin to be Mike Inez from Alice in Chains ( oh were Alice in chains a Nu metal band? duh.)
Cya all later!
Sal Collaziano 2-22-01, 07:18 PM hehe Hamish! You're so violent about your passions! http://www.80sxchange.com/ubb/smilies//smile.gif

thoughts of you just memories
no cryin now for what we're missin
time won't forget what you meant to me
Brilliant rock band? Hamish...I have to disagree with you ROYALLY on that one. They have sold out, pure and simple. Maybe the news hasn't hit over there yet, but if you watched Lars on the American show "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire", you'd see what sums up Metallicrap these days.
Peace,
Pagan
"BRILLIANT-ly" said, Pagan...

Black Sabbath sold their souls for rock and roll. Metallica just sold (out). It's not that I have a problem with their music mellowing as they get older, they just knock everything they once stood for. They bash metal, put out of business (soon anyways) a way for new bands to get their music heard before they get a recording contract, and are now doing a lot of things they said they would never do. What is the real story behind Jason Newsted's departure anyways? Metallica stand to make a few million dollars more, why would someone walk away from that for no apparent reason?

certaindeath 3-02-01, 08:40 PM I agree with annual_mayhem. Metallica was the reason I started listening to metal in the first place. I put up with their changes to a degree, but the actions they've taken recently ensure that I will never again buy one of their albums. To do so is to support them, and I only will support musicians that support their fans.
morningmyst 3-02-01, 09:40 PM I remember at one time when Metallica said that they would NEVER do a music video...said that it would be "selling out"....Guess what guys?

What most of you say is indeed true - they did sell out! though there is still no disputing that they are still a great band despite the change.
I dont remember who it was, but sumone said they didnt like the music because of what Metallic ahave done lately! - Oh sorry mate, I thought it was the Music that they played, not the image they portrayed - loser!
Cya all later! - Keep the metal flame alive!
Uh.. Hamish.. I mean no disrespect.. but their sound has gone way downhill.. Hammett's solo's are nowhere near what they used to be...

and who said image wasn't important.... for me to LOVE a band they have to have great music with an awesome original sound, great lyrics that i totally agree with, and an image that just makes me go wild...
For me to HATE a band... they can just fail one of those points miserably.
Metallica has a pretty dull non metallic sound these days, i haven't really read the lyrics but they've never really had deep thoughtful lyrics and their immage.... no commment. They're assholes... nothing more to it.
Time has come to retire guys! You can't really go more pop.

Wow....great article. Oh well...maybe now some REAL metal band will take over as the reiging kings. I think the re-formed Iron Maiden fits the bill quite nicely!
Dawn.. that article was indeed pretty cool!
I especially liked the quote from Hetfield stating that Lars wasn't exactly drummer of the year.. and Jason saying that Hetfield's vocals were limited...
That's hiarious! What did strike me as odd was when they mentioned that Jason is moving to Montana for two years and might not pick up a bass at all... why mention two years? You don't normally say, "I'm moving and going to stay for two years".. maybe they just phrased it wrong...
anyway.. what losers.

Sal Collaziano 3-07-01, 01:03 AM Thank you very much, Dawn, for posting that link. Great article. What a bunch of dopes. They were at one time the greatest Metal band ever. Actually, they still are because nobody has proved better. Yet. I hope someone does soon. I hope Jason Newsted turns out alright...

ALL HAIL TO THE ALMIGHTY CREATOR.. SAL IS GOD!
I haven't been in here for ages. Naughty me! Pagan - would you like Iron Maiden by any chance? Metallica are certainly not what they were in the 80s, that's for sure.
Amy Livin 5-12-01, 12:44 AM Ok, you want my oppinion about the whole Metallica thing? Here goes.
Lars is an ass. He thinks people actualy care what he says. And now he's dragging the rest of the band down. He's using James as his puppet just so that he can get heard. Kirk I always thought was alright. Not a great guy, but I don't really have anything against him. As for Jason, poor sweet Jason. He was the only one that kept his mouth shut. he was the only one I actualy still respected in the band. And now he's quitting. I say good for him!!! It's really a big waist if he doesn't play though. But he is better off without Metallica, especially that little twirp Lars.
Amy Livin 5-12-01, 07:10 AM Thank you Shakey, it's just personal oppinion though
Sal Collaziano 5-14-01, 10:13 AM They're currently working on a new studio album. I don't know who their bassist is going to be - but I know they've begun recording. I suppose they'll add the bass in later - unless they're doing it some other way...
