Okay, here's the big question..

What if Metallica were to make their next album with a mix of the sounds from Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and ...And Justice for All?

Would you buy the album? Actually, I'm going to add this into the new Voting section we have as well...

Throw in quite a bit of Kill'em all and maybe just maybe I might consider buying it.

Chances are I probably wouldn't buy it because of the whole Napster deal.

I really doubt if I will buy the next album. I don't think they will ever go back to the pre- "Black album" sound and I have liked anything they have done since. Plus the whole Napster issue hasn't helped my feelings toward the band.

So I guess the concensus would be that we'd simply 'get' the album IF it had a Kill 'em All kinda feel to it.. Not buy it! Just kinda get it... Is that it? /ubb/smilies/smile.gif

I do agree that they would OR COULD never accomplish that task...

I agree also, they will never put out an album like that again. The hunger is gone, the need is gone. Metal isn't just a musical form, it's a lifestyle (boy, did I just sound like Spicoli or what?) Alternica ceased living that lifestyle when they became MTV poster boys.

As Colonel Trautman said to Rambo...."It's OVER Johnny!"

Pagan

On second thought I would steal it from Napster just to piss those sorry ass SOB's off.

No... I would not buy another thing that band put out. Enough talk about Alternica... let's talk about Metal shall we?

Once again I agree with Skyklad. But, just to make a point, there is one extremely important factor different in those first Metallica albums and their later junk: Cliff Burton!! They are NOT capable of putting out material of the same quality as their earlier efforts!!

I agree Cliff Burton was one of the best ever /ubb/smilies/frown.gif

This is true.. Cliff Burton is what made the band kick ass. I really wonder what things would be like if he had never passed away. I'm sure ...And Justice for All would have been very different, if not never made.

What do you think the M would be like if he had never gone away?

I can easily tell you where Metallica would be right now if Cliff were still alive.....exactly where they are, but without Cliff. Lars would have still become intoxicated by being MTV darlings, and Cliff would have gotten fed up enough to quit. Either that, or they would have broken up.

Peace,
Pagan

I have to disagree Sal AJFA is not bad not one of my favorites but it is still far better than anything they released after it. /ubb/smilies/smile.gif

I agree Pagan I think Cliff would have told them to F*ck off and started his own band. Maybe even hooking up with Dave Mustaine....hey I can dream can't I. /ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Now this is the kinda stuff I like to hear! Imagine Cliff Burton and Dave Mustaine got together for a band?! That would be awesome.. I wonder what that would have been like.. I wonder why there are no old M imitation bands running around. I'm sure there must be atleast one somewhere that is atleast pretty good.

Otherwise, AJFA is really good with me. The songs are LONG (unlike most metal) and they make sense. They're powerful... I really did enjoy that album. Kill 'em All seems a bit primative to me, but that's the album with the most energy. Seek and Destroy, the Four Horseman, Hit the Lights, Metal Militia.. Great stuff! Ride the Lightening was like - really thoughtful for a Metal album back then! Actually, even now! Where the ASS did Fade to Black come from?! God? Amazing... Then Master of Puppets.. Wow.. That was such a change for Heavy Metal. Where did THAT one come from? What an amazing album. If it weren't for all of these amazing accomplishments, we wouldn't give an ass what Metallica played these days...

P.S. I'm in Netscape right now and this place looks like Hell!

Cliff and Dave would have made a kickass group!!!!!

Sal I heard something about Netscape, can't remember what it was though. But I wouldn't use it right now, that is if you don't have to /ubb/smilies/smile.gif

OK, I remember now. It was on the news here, because of Java Script it makes it easier for hacks to get into your computer...

Sal...you HAVE to get more Maiden CDs!!! LOL....Maiden writes some LONG ass songs!

I have to disagree with you Not Man, Cliff wouldn't want to hook up with Mustaine. It seems Dave has fallen under the same spell that Lars has, cause Megadeth's last two albums rot.

I'll be seeing Megadeth tonight with Motley Crue at Jones Beach Theater, I'll post a review and let you all know if they still have it.

Peace,
Pagan

Freakin' Hell! Another concert I missed because I didn't know how to get to Jones Beach. I was supposed to go... (Had back stage passes and everything)

Otherwise, Megadeth will be back. They won't be weak like Risk anymore...

Thanks Blaziegirl! I don't like Netscape very much at all...
